  1. Hi guys, i'm needing a replacement flywheel for my nov.2002 1gfe is200. I live in Holland and i'm not having much luck here finding a lightweight SM replacement. Could someone put me onto a distributor for the part i need? It doesn't need to be from Jun, but i am looking for a lighweight SM job which can be used with a std clutch. I'm rapidly losing hair over this... please help.....? Thanks in advance, Daley

  2. Good afternoon everyone :) My name is Neil and i am looking to get a Lexus Is at the weekend which will be a new experience for me as so far i have only had Fords plus i work for a Ford main dealer so that helps but this time i wanted something different and the Lexus ticked the right boxes so after having a Mondeo 2.2 st tdci for nearly 6 fault free years i think it's time for a change, and this seems like a nice friendly club so i thought i would join

  3. I've been a Lexus owner for the past 15months; I must admit to being more and more pi55ed off with Lexus franchise garages. I bought my first Lexus for a number of reasons - I loved the toys but I was aware of something called Lexus customer care/service so I was hooked, what could go wrong. I must admit my experience of the latter is shocking. Within the first 2 months of ownership, I had the dreaded 5th injector issue - Lexus Exeter told me I needed 3 new injectors - £1600 plus. This would solve the problem, but this was only after cleaning the EGR valve and charging me £150 plus. I contacted the garage I bought it from who accepted responsibility and following a conversation they had with Lexus Exeter decided to fix the problem by replacing 1 injector only at a 3rd of the price - I'm pleased to say this fixed the problem but I'm still perplexed as to why they wanted to charge me £1600 for 3 new injectors. Ultimately I'm nothing but disappointed in Lexus alleged customer service, quite frankly its crap! Their objective is to get the most money out of their customers. Where on earth does this 'legendary' customer service come from? I am at a loss as to the benefit of a Lexus service stamp; quite frankly I get better service and quality from Halfords - honestly. Lexus are a bunch of charlatans. Don't get me wrong, I love my car- but Lexus garages? No thanks!!!

  4. I would go to h&s simply because they are very good. No idea on price sadly. Cat back system is 850 all in so back boxes maybe 400/500???

  5. By the way...if you are hankering for the 220d you should read all the posts here relating to it and the problems that can arise. Better to go in with your eyes open. Scroll through the pages of the 220/250 section to find the info you want. Be aware that short journeys and low mileage is not good for the 220d. You will have the potential for EGR and DPF issues that can be extremely expensive to resolve. Sorry to be blunt but you need to be aware and tread carefully. Go here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/forum/127-lexus-is-250-lexus-is-250c-club-lexus-is-220d-is-200d-club/ Don't go to buy one 'this weekend'...you need to try a few and look around for the one you really want. Do your research before you jump in and purchase.

  7. Not needed to do this is mine but try adjusting everything else to the complete opposite and try again. I sometimes have to do this to fix my lumbar adjustment as well as the tilt in my Dad's car.

  8. I've not done much posting here for a while - been too busy driving my 430 :) My thoughts on the 430 - I bought a 2002 new and stiill run it. I looks like hell but rides and drives like a good un. The pre-face lift 2003 seems to have more reliable (rear) ride height sensors. A pal of mine had to have his replaced at 100K miles - I have a 2002 - 430 that has done 220K+ miles and I had a link break in one of my sensors. This was not at all funny because it drops the back end. My local indi made a new link because the replacement part was £400+ - it is fine now. After 13 years I keep having to have the exhaust patched - note if an LPG converted car that has the engine light on it will probably say the cat is running at low efficiency which means a pin hole in the exhaust or a duff lamda sensor. Both are easy to fix - the engine light should never be on. Rust early 430s have door rust probs so pull of the panels and check before you buy. The rust will come through from the inside - the 12 year warranty should cover replacement - check on the forum for other data about this. LPG is awesome I have done 130K trouble free miles in mine - make sure you have somebody who knows what they are doing if you have one converted. If you buy one converted make sure the ECU has the latest firmware - check when you have it serviced and the filters cleaned. The newer models have lower profile tyres which means a harder ride - the best riding Lexus by far is the 400. If you buy a car that was owned by a fat b$gger like me and it has a lot of miles on it the drivers seat may be stuff up so really check this out - I nearly had to scrap my 430 last year because of probs getting it fix. Good luck with buying another Lexus mate. Cheers Bren

  9. Hello DoNotBuyIS300h, You should move to the 'Potential Manufacturing Defect' post as that's where the topic is hottest. There is a 'fix' for the problem which some of us have had done. It hasn't cleared the issue completely but makes it a lot more bearable.

  11. Hi, I have been experiencing the same problem "Noise & vibrations at and above 80 kmph" right from the 1st week I took the delivery of my car. The dealer said Lexus Australia test drove my car and they acknowledge the problem and they are working on an update "to IMPROVE driver cabin noise (slight vibration)". As they can't tell me when it can be fixed, I have spoken to Consumer Affairs in Australia, they have advised me to write to dealer asking for a date when this issue can be fixed and if they don't respond in 7 days, I can then lodge a complaint with Consumer Affairs and they will take it from there. The guy I spoke to from Consumer Affairs said, "apparently, it's a breach of Section 54", would be interesting to see how the dealer is going to respond. I have a colleague who drives Toyota Prius, she doesn't have this problem, I have a friend who drives Honda Hybrid, he doesn't have this problem........ why Lexus IS300h?!!!!

  13. DJP, I've 17,000km on the clock and can confirm it occurs in all modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. So, if you haven't noticed it then you most likely don't have a lemon. If you would like to check, this should work (you might want to set your measurements to km): on a relatively flat - or very slight uphill - smooth road, when in D take the car up to about 80-85km then ease off - you should be at about 1300rpm. Slowly accelerate and you'll hear a slight rumble from the transmission; ease back to where the rumble was and stay at that speed, then the resonance occurs. Now, let it resonate for a while and then paddle down a gear and it disappears. Of course, I hope the above bears no result! John, Maybe you could improve on this "how to" so other members can check their cars. We could put it under a new topic.

  14. Hi, my name is John (from Sydney, Australia), I purchased a Lexus IS300h in August 2013 and have also experienced the transmission "rough spot" in this car. I'm a retired automotive steering/suspension engineer, and drivetrain NVH (indeed any NVH) really, really annoys me!! Yes, there is undoubtedly a drivetrain vibration problem in the IS300h when the engine is operating at low load at about 1200 - 1300 rpm, which corresponds to about 80 - 90 km/hr on an open flat freeway. It is most noticeable in ECO mode where the planetary "CVT" response is designed to be sluggish (on purpose). In Normal or Sports mode the problem is masked somewhat because the rpm advances through the 1200 - 1300 speed range - so you just get a shorter "kick" in the vibration. As one of the other LOC bloggers say, the vibration resembles a "rumble" or interior "boom" and sounds a bit like driving a manual transmission car in top gear at excessively low revs. As an automotive engineer, my guess is that it is caused a drivetrain vibration resonance, which interacts with a fundamental frequency of the air volume in the passenger compartment. (hence the audible "boom"). I wish I had my old spectral analysis equipment, and then I could tell you the exact frequency!! Anyway, "Mr Lexus Drivetrain Engineer in Nagoya", you have clearly missed this problem in your exhaustive testing, and there is a number of Lexus IS300h new owners in the world quite annoyed by it. The local Lexus service guys cannot do anything about it. We need an engineering fix, may be a remapping of the drivetrain ECU or changing of the transmission mount spring-rates to eliminate/attenuate the problem.

  15. Hi, I am going to look at the car tomorrow and if I am happy with it may put a deposit down. Now this is ok for the guy i'm buying it off but where is my Assurance? So I was thinking I would remove the ECU for my assurance. Can anyone tell me where the ECU is located and how big of a job it is to remove. Regards A.Eccles
