  1. Yeah your right, thats more like what i was getting at :D
  2. Will be interesting to see how they market it. If it looks good and pack with with kit at a good price, like they did the original IS, i think they could be on to a massive winner. My own personal opinion of Lexus though is that they have somewhat lost there values over the past few years and seem to be just another car manufacturer.
  3. in a years time..............hopefully the production model will resemble the artwork and wont be waaaaaaay off from that picture [ This is the first glimpse of Lexus’s answer to the Audi A3, a premium hatchback that will be coming to the UK late next year. A concept version of the car will make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show next month. Lexus is keen to get a foothold in the C-segment premium market, which has so far been dominated by cars like the A3 and BMW 1-series. “The C-premium segment has been growing and Lexus wants to position a car in that segment,” said the source. Unlike Audi, which showcases new design directions on flagship cars like the forthcoming new A8, Lexus will be presenting a new styling philosophy on the compact concept. A Lexus source told Autocar a production version has now been given the green light. Although Lexus saloons are generally rear-wheel drive, this model is likely to be front-wheel drive, like the Audi. Lexus has previously committed to hybrids and it is highly likely the hatch would get an option of this drivetrain, as at present it would not clash with any Toyota models.
  4. Anyone looking forward to this? looking good
  5. thanks for your replies guys. From what i've heard and it seems to be echoed on here, is that its a bit of a love hate type of place. I can cope with pushy people in the shops, i've been to quite a few places where shop keepers hassle you, but it doesn't really bother me. Montego Bay last year was possible the worst experience i've had as we wondered of the main tourist route! I'll look forward to your report Damer B)
  6. I've posted this on another car forum i frequent, but i thought the more answers the merrier so....... Has anyone been on holiday to Egypt? Were looking at going at the end of August. I've never been before, but i've always wanted to visit the pyramids etc. It seems to be really good value at the moment and was wondering if anyone can recommend places to stay. Ideally we want to go to a nice hotel 4* or above hotel and go all inclusive, but we've no idea on the best 'resort' to stay at, with good amenities, food etc... Any advice welcome. Sharm el Sheikh seems to offer decent value, but is quite away away from the pyramids, although i understand they do day trips there for about £130, which includes a short flight. Cheers
  7. Thank you for the warm welcome boys and girls :D I am quite handy with the soldering iron so I will have a got at it. I have found out that if I push it slightly to the left the green tint goes. I will have a look at the connections. Any ideas how the unit comes off? I don't want to do a trial an error. Nik Mine did the same too, but progressively got worse and worse until the screen practically went off. you'll probs find that in time the screen will go from green to red then purple, then blank! I tried several times just taking the unit apart and giving it a "clean", which worked on a temporary basis, but in the long run the ribbon and/or screen will need to be replaced. I think there is a guide on here somewhere with pictures, but from memory its as follows: 1- You should be able to life up a plastic panel which runs parallel with the width of the screen when closed. Under that there are 2 screws to unscrew 2- Pull unit out towards you (takes a bit of force) 3- Sat Nav Unit then has 2 connections from the dashboard, which you need to unclip (i always found this the hardest part as i have sausage fingers!) 4- Unit should now be free, then its a case of unscrewing various screws to get to the screen.
  8. Hi and welcome mate. The short answer to your question is that basically its fooooked and on its way out. Sorry! I had the same problem! Luckily i managed to get a new screen off eBay. Changing it over is literally a 30 min job and easy to do. It's getting hold of a screen that is the problem. Like Parthiban said, it's the ribbon cable that's damaged. You may be able to source that on its own from an electronics shop perhaps and have a go at a bit of soldering.
  9. That was my thinking too Parthiban. I'm sure all will be revealed in due course. On another not, i hope i get my concert ticket money back! RIP MJ Did you pay on credit card ?? I did indeed, direct from Ticketmaster, the official sellers.

  11. Thanks guys! 24....i can feel my youth passing me by! booo
  12. Don't forget that hes also Ferrari's F1 adviser and it was coincidentally the British GP this weekend. :P I've hear that there's going to be a different Stig revealed in every episode this series.
  13. I'm guessing Schumacher is one a very limited amount of people who is actually allowed to drive that Ferrari FXX. What a car though! It looked savage going round the track
  14. I like the 'ease of driving' that the extra power of a bigger engines brings. The engine in my current car is 1.8 supercharged and i love the extra low down grunt it has over the IS200. I'm by no means one of those drivers hes pedal to the metal all the time, but its good to know you have the power in reserve as and when you need it, without having to drop gears and what not (maybe im just a lazy driver). When i change my car at the end of 2010, ill be 25 and providing i still have all my no claims (touch wood), i can't wait to get an even more powerful car. In the words of Clarkson "POWAAAAAAAAAAAR"
  15. badger them for some deals. Once the football season finishes we usually ring up cancel sky sports. They usually offer you a reduced monthly subscription to keep it over the summer.
  16. LINKY You're in - News: Auto Express News Lexus LF-A exclusive new details Lexus' long-awaited supercar will take the fight to its Italian competitors with a scintillating 220mph top speed Lexus LF-A Auto Express Car Reviews By Peter Lyon 27th May 2009 Lexus has its sights set on joining the supercar elite! We have it on good authority that Toyota has finally succeeded in its bid to find a higher top speed for Japan’s most expensive, and fastest production car ever, the Lexus LF-A. One source close to the company told us over a year ago that the development team was not happy with the car’s top speed of 199mph, and had sent it back to the shop for fine-tuning. And now, after a year of testing in wind tunnels, strategic revisions to the car’s aerodynamics and minor adjustments to its V10 engine, we are the first to reveal that the R&D team has finally found the extra legs. The LF-A’s 550bhp-plus 4.8-litre V10, channeled through a 6-speed semi-auto transmission bolted to a transaxle, is now capable of over 218mph. That’s faster than the production Nissan GT-R and puts the LF-A on hallowed ground with the likes of Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and Pagani Zonda F, that have similar top speeds. Our scoop squad has also learned that the actual production model will look very different to the prototypes seen at the Nurburgring, especially around the headlights and grille, so we can expect a surprise when the car finally surfaces later in 2009. We are now being told that the LF-A will be a limited edition model of 500 cars and that includes a high performance sports package version boasting a wider body and beefed up aeroparts similar to those seen on the race version at Nurburgring (pictured). And if the race car’s lap time of 7 minutes 13 seconds is anything to go by then we can expect blistering pace from the production model too. Prices are expected to range from around £140,000 to £190,000, but whether a traditionally luxurious brand such as Lexus has the kudos to demand such a high sticker price is a hot topic of debate. All the signs point to a Tokyo Motor Show launch in October for the LF-A, especially given that Toyota wants to maximize exposure with the double reveal of its all-new rear-drive, 2.0-litre 3-door sports coupe, co-developed with Subaru.

  18. On my IS i did from south west Sheffield to Leeds with my light on. Petrol station roulette is good fun!
  19. Well today i had a bash of getting rid of the light swirls on my car. See here for info: CLICKY My car was pretty easy as it wasn't all that bad as i thought. Also decided to roll my Dads old LS out of the garage, which is in the need of some much needed TLC. Its not been used in a year and the paint was in a bad state. Used the method as mentioned in the other thread and it looks great now and is all good to go and ready to sell. Just a couple of pics off my iPhone, will upload ones of my camera when i get a chance. Dads LS400 - You can clearly see the difference of the polished side and the 'flat' side. This was before any wax or anything was applied. It looks even better now. Heres my car with swirls mostly gone now.
  20. i was just thinking, im sure ive read this thread somewhere else.i notice you on mb club too lol. its just clicked
  21. Thanks for that PJ S. So just to get my head straight! should i do it in this order? Wash Clay Wash Auto Balm SRP Wax?
  22. I bought some SRP but not had chance to give it a bash yet. Just another question. In the past i have used Should i apply the SRP and then apply Carlack 68 AIO? I'm just wondering, will the Carlack remove the SRP and be left back a square one again?
  23. I really do not get mobile phone companies. Surely they are the perfect model on how not to keep a customer.
  24. Welcomefellow sheffielder. Where abouts in Sheffield are you?
