  1. This kit is absolutely fine excellent piece of kit - you'll love it ;)
  2. hes an agile lil bugger isn't he? Great clip. very reminiscent of the free runners - trying to remember the website.
  3. good point ← sorry guys. but dont make me **** laugh. I remember the fiasco of people cheating to get a picture of their car on a calendar that only 30 people in the world would ever **** see. And now you are proposing the same members be asked to vote for people to run the club?
  4. what LOC needs is for the members to realise that its an internet car club. thats all. nothing more. Its not a democracy. Its not a dictatorship. Its not a company Its not any real life sociatal or business group. You are "members" by virtue of having registered using details that can quite easily be fake - we dont even check if you are a real person. You are not stakeholders. You are not shareholders. You are not investors. If you are a goldmember - you have not purchased anything other than access to a separate area of the club, within which there are a load of discounts which save you money on servicing, maintaining and doing up your car. We appreciate the support of these goldmembers - it is these members that basically keep the club going. But this subscription does not make you in anyway involved in running the club. Its an internet car club. Thats all. If you like it here, please keep visiting - you are welcome. If you are new, or have not posted - please pull up a chair, tell us all about yourself. What Lexus do you drive? Any pics? Any mods? Share with your fellow owners. You dont like it? Click somewhere else. No-one is here because we have captured their browser and its the only site you can visit. No-one is here because of any nefarious internet techniques. Everyone is here of their own free will.
  5. wow - they seem really good prices. whats OEM on a GS430? Is it the Denso ones?
  6. Club Gold Members can get superb prices from here I saved a small fortune this way - over 5 years gold subscriptions in one purchase B)
  7. Anyone get their copy of the new Lexus magazine? Bit of background on the guy who designed the new IS, and some nice shots of individual details of the car, like the start button etc. Quite a nice little piece I thought. Obviously - stuff on the GS and RX400h - but I quite liked the close up shots of bits of the IS.
  8. you are not removing the swirls though are you? you are merely hiding them with polish and wax. a few weeks later, the wax has gone, and the swirls are back. You need to remove the swirls - not just hide them. For the £500 you would have to spend to have this corrected by miracle detail, you could buy a porter cable polisher, and the products needed to remove swirling. Twice. and you would get to keep the equipment you need to keep on top of it. I would look into a PC and the Sonus SFX products - hearing excellent results about these products. I have attached some pictures below of the results on a car similar in colour to yours. If you want to read the first hand experiences of the guy who did this - the thread is on LOCUS here Half the cost - plus you can do this yourself every six months to keep right on top of swirling etc. I'm not putting MD down - they are showing good results. But I think you could achieve them yourself for a lot money. Pity you are so far away - I'd lend you my PC so you could try it out
  9. havent you posted on this subject before? you are about 19, have 0 no claims bonus - and were responsible for an accident? you are NOT going to get insured for £3.50 ANYWHERE. As a young driver, with zero no claims, and a history of causing accidents - you are always going to be reamed by car insurance - sorry bud
  10. soooo - you saw a thread had been closed on this subject - and thought it a good idea to start a new one?
  11. I would say this is about par for the course. lot of people paint them, put stickers on etc. I will just be doing mine in flat black hammerite smooth - nice and clean
  12. nothing contraversial about this - if its giving you results that you are happy with - then thats great :D I'm with Mike though. I used Mer, Autoglym, Megs - Klasse rules all.
  13. why are people so interested in engine braking? You have brakes on the car - push the pedal down - and the car stops. You guys are increasing the wear on your engines, to save some wear on pads? Pads are like £40 (?) to replace? cheaper than engines
  14. looking at your sig - you already have these on? what happened to em bud? (or dont I want to know )
  15. As Aido says - these are the wheels on the MKII GS430 - as you can see on my car below you should be able to get them from a dealer here, although I cant imagine the shipping costs would be very friendly - especially as the dollar / stirling exchange rate is very definitely working against you. One of the members on these boards (Chris S.) works for a dealership - see if he can help you out?
  16. as several people have pointed out - its not a good idea to change to N and coast. There is however a benefit to shifting into N once you are stopped. This shifts out of gear, and on a level surface means may not have to sit holding the car on the brakes, as leaving hot brake pads on your disks is not a good idea. If its not a level surface, then shift into P, or apply the footbrake. so - you increase the wear on the engine to save the wear on the brakes? Which of these items do you think are consumable parts, designed to be replaced? And which do you think is the cheapest to replace? :D
  17. yeah - you should be able to pick up an early SC430 for £30kish. test drive one - see if you like it. It does not get get reviews in terms of the ride and handling - but a lot of people report that changing the awful standard run flat tyres for a decent set of proper tyres works wonders. Its a very different car to the IS. its only really a two seater - the rear seats would hardly hold shopping, never mind kids (dont even think of trying to get an adult in there). Not as much boot space either. It will be more expensive to run. It is insurance group 19, as opposed to the 13 of the IS200 sport (do we know the insurance groups of the new models yet?) It will definitely be thirstier. I have the 4.3 V8 in my GS, and I'm averaging around 17mpg at the moment. I can only recommend you test drive one, and get some insurance quotes. If you like the car, and can afford to run it - then go for it!
  18. yeah! I had to go and wash dirt from under my fingernails too! :P not often that happens :D :D
  19. that was what I did in the end Brett ;) I thought the pins had to come out though - hence my hardship Once Mat pointed out the pins stay with the badge, I just loosened the washers and used a set of pliers to work them off.
  20. bloody hell - good job I asked. I have been trying to get the pins out. cheers Mat ;)
  21. screwdriver just seems to move the washer type thing between the grille and pin. the pin itself does not seem to be moving ideas anyone?
  22. no backing plate I'll go try a screwdriver. I did think of this, but again was worried about breaking the mesh
  23. Has anyone with a sports / mesh grille removed the (L) emblem from the front of the car? Its held on with three clips - and held on damn tight! Dont want to pull too hard, in case I break the mesh. Whats the secret technique to getting this thing off?
  24. thats a stonkingly good price. I got a set of them for £40.
