  1. double clutching is dipping the clutch, and taking the car out of gear, followed by dipping the clutch (usually with a blip of throttle to match revs to the gear) and engaging the next gear. pointless in modern cars - the syncromesh does this for you.
  2. Tibs, this is not a marketplace for dealers to post stuff pretending to be members - or by posting as multiple users to agree with yourself. If you (or any other) dealers want to offer our members deals - please approach the club first. Posting as multiple users - with the same IP address, which is registered to Toyota - is a dead giveaway
  3. this gold discount gets you EXCELLENT prices
  4. if its foggy - why arent your normal lights on?
  5. this was a problem with the MKII - which I feel was down to the standard tyre choice of Pirelli PZero Assymetrico. I changed to Goodyear Eagles F1 GS-D3's, and its much quieter.
  6. not me average is 19.1 at the moment - mostly urban. Record is 27.6 on a run - nice and easy on the motorway. not being funny Nick - what did you expect mate? You can't have thought it would be cheap to run :D :D
  7. they are no more biased towards BMW than you guys are being towards Lexus. Lookup any post on here where someone comes and asks a similar question - and read EXACTLY the same comments. its a BMW forum, they own BMWs - its a natural bias. this is a Lexus forum - we own Lexus - the same bias exists here
  8. have you reserved the road for your exclusive use?
  9. I do not agree with speed cameras at all. I do not see how having drivers spend more time looking at their speedometers than the road is preventing accidents. However, I have an issue with any idea that involves MY safety relying on the good judgement of others - especially as the majority of the people supporting this are relying on spurious arguments to support their base - but unspoken - requirement. THEY WANT TO DRIVE FASTER. I dont care if it takes 15 men three moths to scrape the decaying remains of YOUR corpse off the road, because you crashed your car into the barrier at 180mph. I do however care that it is not ONLY you who can be involved in these accidents. Why should I, my family, friends and loved ones be put at risk because someone felt that, IN THEIR ASSESMENT, 130 mph was a suitable and safe speed?
  10. Can I post the "suspect" reg with out getting into legal hassles? ← our gold forums are private
  11. no - its not necessarily a scam, rip off site. its simply not secure enough for ME to use them to buy from. They may be 100% legit, never let anyone down, excellent service, top notch guys. but - its not a secure site so you should not use it to give them your credit card details. Ring them up and do it that way?
  12. Bob Carter is the General Manager of Lexus by the way - this is a chance to talk to one of their top guys ;)
  13. that user is banned, and I have taken steps to ensure he cannot post his trojan again as a different user.
  14. the site is not secure as far as I got through it. However, I stopped short of letting them run a credit check on me. This does not mean that the credit card payment is insecure - but you were right to be wary. If when you come to enter your credit card details, you do not see the padlock, and the URL does not begin https:// - then its not secure and you should not enter your credit card data. Doesnt mean its a scam - just means its not secure enough for ME to trust them
  15. Then ask Lexus direct. Lexus Owners Club has been invited by edmunds.com to join their live chat. This is the email I got from Sylvia Marino, a director of edmonds.com
  16. Mat have a private work on here with GazWalker - or Envy Performance on TOC. this thread seems to indicate they had them for the supra
  17. I'm not afraid of anyone - no recorded instances of anyone ever being hurt over the internet. I actually cant read barryboys - my IP is banned, and has been for ages. Dont know why, as I have never been a member, only an occasional reader. I'm certainly not about to register to register to explain anything to any of their members. I am also absolutely positive this is not Steve. The use of his name is someone stirring
  18. hmmm - I've changed my post slightly - I did not mean to infer people cannot respond at all - thats clearly not the case. I meant I will not tolerate the sort of flamewars these things turn into - and the sort of flamewars the BB guys love to see happening. Defintely - keep it on BB.
  19. waaaaaaayyyyyy OTT with that comment i think mr M, and people wonder why there are mass complaints every now and then about the mods being too harsh ;) all it needed was a " ignore this idiot, if you wish to discuss about this please take it to their forums" a lot nicer dont u agree? ← maybe Rob - but I'm speaking from personal experience of this type of situation here. Are you? We had a rash of TOC cars show up on BB, and a handful of BB members on the forums. BB has a large troll base - and they like showing up on boards and having some fun with the members. Thats not happening again on here. I'm making it very clear that the place for fighting with the BB trolls is on the BB forums. Not on here. At all.
  20. Ok - it was only a matter of time before barryboys found our club. I'll say here what I said on TOC when some cars where posted there. You want to fight with the barryboys guys - take it to their forums and do it. This is not barryboys. It will never be barryboys. I see any of our members starting trouble or responding hostiley to barryboys member(s) - I will start handing out bans from here. Keep this on topic - and go register on barryboys if you want to start arguing.
  21. 1) Plan ahead to combine short trips in order to minimize cold starts. 2) Accelerate slowly. 3) Avoid heavy braking. Monitor traffic to minimize braking and coast whenever possible. 4) Avoid speeds in excess of 60 mph; fuel economy suffers at speeds higher than 60 mph and drops significantly above 70 mph. 5) In slow-and-go traffic, accelerate to the desired speed then lift off the accelerator pedal allowing the vehicle to run more on electric power. 6) Check tire pressure and maintain it at the recommended pressure. 7) Avoid carrying unnecessary loads; extra weight reduces fuel economy. 8) Use the air conditioner and defroster only as needed. 9) Use premium fuel to improve fuel economy and performance. 10) Use the "D" gear position rather than the "B" position. During normal driving conditions, always drive in "D" for best fuel economy. Only use "B" gear position if needed to help maintain vehicle speed when going down * This performance capacity figure is for comparison only, and was obtained wn steep grades. 22. D I C K as in Phillip K author of A Scanner Darkly, Ubik etc
  23. used to read 200AD years ago when I was a kid. Judge Dredd rocked - obviously I really liked Rogue Trooper - that was cool.
