  1. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Is it just the bulbs that are out on the cluster? If so it would make more sence to replace them rather than the whole cluster plus you could change the colours while you're at it.
  2. But you could also enjoy the drive to Walsall lol
  3. There may be a stored code in the ECU memory even though the EML didn't illuminate but one thing that wouldn't generate a code is a lack of fuel either due to a fuel pump problem, fuel filter or the supply to the injectors. Ignition related problems normally would flag a code.
  4. Hello and welcome to the LOC. What's happened to your old ones? Yes they are 14mm heads but not sure on the thread size, I would think they are also high tensile. A local engineering shop should be able to find something suitable, just take one of the caliper pins with you to match the bolts.
  5. They will be dealer only and I think the part number for the main engine cover fastenings is as below but your dealer should be able to confirm. 90480‑22024 *** STD. PART € 2.79
  6. If the timing belt has been replaced it should be noted in the service records and there should also be a sticker somewhere in the engine bay providing th date of replacement and the mileage. The owner may be genuine in not knowing, if it has a FLSH he may never have lifted the bonnet. Just be aware that it is normally 100,000 or 10 years so either way it will need doing so take the cost of replacement into account when buying, some owners when faced with the upcoming bill will sell the car instead.
  7. I put EBC Ultimate on my rear brakes and regretted it, dust, dust and more dust put it this way I've put 1800 miles on the car since fitting over 6 months ago and the wheels still need weekly cleaning! When creeping they groan like crazy and I cannot creep smoothly. Not sure what the rest of the range is like but mine are coming back off ASAP.

Hello and welcome to the LOC. Loads of information available on the forums,if you can't find an answer with a search just ask and there is normally some one who knows the answer :D
  9. Did you have the car from new? If not how many keys did you get when purchased? There are normally 3 keys so if you didn't get 3 there has always been 1 in somewhere else.
  10. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Did you not notice this problem when you test drove the car before purchase? It could be a number of causes, power steering pump, power steering rack or a suspension problem. Any decent garage should be able to help diagnose the problem. It's not an Active Soarer is it as they have very compicated rear wheel steering? There is a place called the Soarer Sancuary which specializes in them.
  11. Hello and welcome to the LOC. A plug misfire would normally be present across the complete rev range but that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't a plug. It depends on how much you want to spend but I would start with the plugs then the leads. Another possible cause could be the TPS but that would normally flag a fault code up. I would pull the plugs and check their condition first.
  12. I'm afraid LS drivers are all in the same boat, they are a large car and mine only just fits in the garage which was extended originally to accomodate a Merc S Class and it is still bumper to the end wall and the door just closes. One thing I have found is most oncoming traffic will tend to get out of your way when they see an LS approaching. Parking spaces are a joke as others have mentioned, designed for small cars it is difficult to actually fit into them and be able to actually open the doors to get in and out so I find myself parking further away from the supermarket entrance just to gain an isolated spot, having said that there must be an attraction as I often find cars have then parked alongside me. One good thing is with rear wheel drive the lock on the steering is far better than the front wheel drive smaller cars and it is surprising after a while how easy they are to reverse park into a space, this is also helped by excellent all round vision and nice touches like the door mirrors which dip down when in reverse. It is really a matter of getting used to UK roads and driving habits at least you are still on the same side of the road here in the UK. Finally welcome to the LOC and the UK.
  13. From what I understand the AS was only available on the Ultra Luxury package so most models will be on normal spring suspension. It will not be easy if at all possible to see just from pictures if the car has AS the only real way is to look at the top of the suspension mounts, if you don't see springs it's on AS. Premium pack models normally have different wheels but I couldn't tell you what they look like. The link below may help you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_LS
  14. Sorry no one came back with any ideas but thanks for coming back with the results and I am pleased to hear it was nothing major. Body earth points are critical on all cars but more so on modern cars with all the computers involved. It is a good idea when servicing to check all the earth points for security and cleanliness and if in any doubt to remove them, clean them and the body contact area and refit. I may have been caused by the underbody wash, the high pressure water jets may have disturbed the earth point which was already defective.
  15. Hello and welcome to the LOC, From what I can see from your avatar picture it looks a very nice example.
  16. The solar sensor is located on the top of the driver's side dash. I would also have the AC checked at a registered AC specialist. Sometimes a fractured EGR pipe can cause the ticking noise at the rear of the engine. On the LHS of the radiator there should be a sight glass for the AC if there is no activity inside it suspect low/no refridgerant.
  17. I found that when the pads are nearly at their wear limit the warning light came on intermittently but I changed my pads out before the sensors were damaged, at around £50.00 for each sensor they cost more than the pads! Have your pads checked as soon as possible to avoid the extra cost of having the sensors go. Any decent garage will be able to replace the pads so no need to pay dealer prices, I would however buy genuine Lexus/Toyota pads and give them to your garage to fit. Time wise 1.5 hours labour should cover the job.
  18. Walsall would be good for me so I'm in
  19. Sorry guys it's been removed I don't know if this link will still work to see what you could have bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1998-LEXUS-LS400-AUTO-GREEN-/120945645103?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1c28ec162f#ht_720wt_1167
  20. Once a Lexus driver always a Lexus driver! There's one on fleabay at the moment with one owner and only 18,000 miles!
  21. Hello and welcome to the LOC. You would be better off reposting in the GS section as more owners would see it but I think the chances of finding a 2nd hand one for a 2008 model is going to be a problem especially when you will be looking for a specific colour, having said that it is always worth a glance on ebay. The only real option is to buy from a Lexus dealer but at a price unfortunately.
  22. What's happenig here? Maurice wanting spare parts not selling them! If I had one I'd give it to you in return for all the help with parts you given me over the years. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
  23. Electronic gizmos as you say sometimes do strange things and then behave perfectly again, if switching off and restarting has cleared the issue you may be OK. There is a known issue with the GS300 brake system which is unusual in that it uses a pump and accumulator for the power assistance instead of the normal approach of a brake booster/servo unit but keep you fingers crossed it's not that. There should be a stored code in the memory which if you have another episode can be read to assist in diagnosis.
  24. I take it there are no Engine management lights flagging up? As you have cleaned the EGR the fault could be with the variable vane turbocharger, the mechanism can get stuck due to carbon build up, a boost pressure check may provide a better diagnosis.
