  1. Try running the lights in manual mode and see if this eliminates the problem which could be the light control module, there have been isolated cases of the stalk switch playing up on other models.
  2. If you have the standard fork type splitter I had to modify mine as it was too thick to insert ( angle grinder to adjust the taper was needed). Remove the steering rack ball joint with one of the gentle non destructive screw type splitters and finally remove the 2 bolts. Lever down the bottom arm to completely remove.
  3. Yes the mileage will be stored but anywhere that does km to miles speedo conversions should be able to "correct" your display.
  4. Hello and welcome to the LOC and the UK :D Nice buy with the IS it would seem all Lexus models run detuned, my LS400 with a 4 litre 32 valve engine only kicks out 250bhp standard. If you are into increasing engine output have a look at member Ormi's supercharged conversion!
  5. According to Toyodiy.com the parts are the same for the LS430 built between 08/2000 to 06/2003 so they should all fit.
  6. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Sounds like you got a nice well cared for low mileage example there, any pictures?
  7. Try sending a PM to Benfur he sold me a set for my LS when I needed the taper type.
  8. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Could you elaborate a little on the problem you are having, are the lights physically shaking or is there a variation in brightness?. HIDs do take a while to warm up to full output a bit like the low energy bulbs now in domestic use but considering they use less power than conventional halogen bulbs there shouldn't be a problem with battery voltage with the existing wiring loom. Some of the cheaper kits have dubious quality on the connections so it may be worth checking these and modifying them.
  9. I sold my 1999 GS300 I purchased as a temporary replacement to the guy who repaired my LS400 and we pass each other regularly. Seems strange to see my old car coming towards me.
  10. Hello and welcome to the LOC. If you could post up the part number of the grille I will see if I can find the exploded diagram which may help you fit the replacement.
  11. There was the same offer a while ago but is this for the Fully Sythetic Magnatec 5W-30 or Castrol GTX as the two are different types? If it is Magnatec yes it is good for the Lexus engines, I did contact Castrol to confirm it was suitable.
  12. Maybe this part? 73343 GUIDE, REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT, RH 73343‑50020‑A0 IVORY, TRIM0* 1 € 14.02 73343‑50020‑B0 BLUE GRAY, TRIM1* 1 € 12.81 73343‑50020‑C0 BLACK, TRIM2* 1 € 14.02 73343‑50020‑G0 AGATE, TRIM6* 1 € 12.74 73344 GUIDE, REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT, LH 73344‑50010‑A0 IVORY, TRIM0* 1 € 14.02 73344‑50010‑B0 BLUE GRAY, TRIM1* 1 € 12.81 73344‑50010‑C0 BLACK, TRIM2* 1 € 14.02 73344‑50010‑G0 AGATE, TRIM6* 1 € 12.74
  13. Thank you, that is very useful information given in the past there have been members with issues reading the codes even with professional garage readers who have then had to spend £££s at Lexus to get the diagnosis done.
  14. I've just received an invitation from Lexus Derby to the launch of the new GS series early next month, I can't afford one but they always invite me to these functions. I'm still in pursuit of those 6 correct lottery numbers! I'll just take some pictures for the club photo section have a glass of champayne and eat their free food. Any one else invited yet?
  15. Has the GS300 got the same engine as the IS300 or is it something different?
  16. Travelling along the A42 and then onto the M1 northbound last Friday around 5.15pm anyone we know?
  17. After I fitted a new head unit I used the space left behind from removing the CD changer in the boot to fit a neat sub amplifier wired to the original sub woofer, the impedance is only 2 ohms so make sure the amplifier is switchable for this. A single phono lead from the aux out on the head unit supplies the signal.
  18. Hello and welcome to the LOC. The 98 on model known as the series IV is according to general opinion the best of the LS400 series. If you are considering a 98/99 model a common failing is the height sensor links paricularly the one at the rear offside just behind the wheel. A full service history is good to have. Check for knocks on the front suspension going over potholes or speed bumps indicating worn suspension components, alloy wheels will normally be scabby ( common Lexus problem). Check the exhaust system for blowing especially at the front end where gasket and flange failure is common. Mileage is not such an issue if there is a service history but make sure it is all genuine and make sure the cambelt has been replaced at the correct time/mileage. If the cambelt is coming up for replacement it is a £600-800 job on average unless you are a confident DIYer and some people will sell the car rather than pay the cost. Make sure all the toys work and all warning lights come on and go off when they should (ABS for example) Check the tyres for good quality branding and if they are all matched at least on the same axle. Look for one with low ownership, if it has had 3-4 owners over the last couple of years ask yourself why, people who buy a decent LS tend to keep them for a long while. Don't but the 1st one you see there are plenty out in the market and you can always come back later they are a big car so demand is not high.
  19. Hello and welcome to the LOC. You should be able to buy fairly cheaply from that well known auction site a copy of the manual on CD ROM which will contain the diagrams you need.
  20. Hello, welcome to the LOC and the world of Lexus.
  21. Thanks for the praise, it's good to hear that the club provides a useful service to its members. I also joined after I bought my imported LS400 again with no UK service history but I for once must have been lucky as it was a genuine trade seller and apart from a few niggles ( known faults anyway) it is still an excellent car in every way. You've spend some money on yours but you know now you have a decent motor with years of driving pleasure ahead.
  22. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Enjoy your new Lexus.
  23. There was a time when cooking oil was around 50p/Ltr but when it was discovered this stuff could be used in some diesel engines the price suddenly and inexplicably shot up to the price of a litre of diesel and has tracked that price since. Coincidence or what? Apparently if you have LPG for home heating you can with the correct filling equipment fill your LPG car from the same tank, you are of cause obliged to inform HMRC of this facility and pay the required duty for road use LPG :winky:
  24. In Venezuela it is the cheapest in the world at an oficial price of 8p/ltr but if you know where to go it can be as little as 3p/ltr!!!!! Fill my LS400 to the brim for £2.70p
  25. This seems to be the case across the range, my 1994 LS400 import has bulbs in both of the front indicator units while the UK spec has only bulbs in the front facing sections. My rear lights have 6 sidelight sections as opposed to one each side on UK spec cars. If the bulb holder is a standard type it should be possible to fit the extra light providing doing so does not effect an light out warning system. Chances are the required wiring loom will be present already probably neatly taped up.
