  1. From what I've read it can only pair with one phone at a time - I'll ask around to see if there are any ways of getting round this. Slim chance but worth asking all the same, but the Nokia data says it'll only do one at a time!! Why not join Orange (may as well get a work plug in) - you can get two numbers on a single SIM so no need to carry around two phones. I've got it for a personal line and it is a very good feature. Only one line rental, can divert either or both if desired, and dead easy to switch lines. It's the way of the future I tell you :winky:
  2. From what I can find out.. Pair handset No 1 in the usual manner, this will be the default phone. To pair handset No2, first make sure the default handset is not in range/connected and then search for bluetooth devices on your second phone (making sure it can be seen by other devices). This will then pair this phone with the kit and make it what Nokia call the 'Last Used Device'. You can do this up to 8 times but if you try and then add a ninth, it will take the place of the 8th paired handset. When you have paired them both, the car kit will try and find the Default Phone first, and then if it's not there it will look for the Last Used phone in order of connection and so on. If you have any probs let me know.. :)
  3. The stereo does mute for car kits (I have checked the Nokia website and the CK-7W supports this function) as the guy who fitted mine managed it, not a big job either as it's a single lead which the car kit uses to tell the stero to mute. A decent fitter will find this but I was originally told the wiring was all sealed in the loom - must have been an old wives tale that your chap may still believe.. If you're struggling let me know and I'll speak to the fitter involved to see how he did it.
  4. Just a quick question - are you assuming the VSC is kicking in or is the light on the dash blinking/on? If the light is on then it definately is coming on, I don't get this in my 220d however - even with some fairly rapid corners.
  5. Although the kit can remember 8 phones it will only pair with one at a time. Shouldn't be a problem but if you are pairing someone elses phones as well (partner/kids etc), make sure your phone is allocated to slot 1 otherwise the kit will pair with them first if it finds two phones it knows. Link below Nokia Page Info
  6. Tel - They look fantastic, I'm very jealous! As for cost , my dealer quoted me £2k as I was trying to blag them as a freebie. Be interested to see what they could get to with some haggling....If anyone gets below £1k with tyres let me know
  7. The mad thing is a they put 6 holes in the tyre. One or two I could imagine but to put the anger in to doing it 6 times, words fail me. That tyre price is a bargain as well, might be worth naming the dealer to let others know. Oh, and I wish I was stood next to your car when your avatar picture was taken :D
  8. I think I'm gong to give this bl00dy car up.. Just sat at Autoglass for an hour waiting for it to be done, quick recap of the seamless handover Mgr - Your car is ready sir. Me - Great, thanks very much Mgr - There is one thing though.. Me - Oh yes, what's that then? Mgr - Well, we ordered the wrong glass so we've fitted plastic instead Me - You *&^"£$$% what? Mgr - I can do it next Monday Me - Why the £$£% didn't you tell me when you started. Bunch of utter fools. I now have a plastic window, the thickness of which I'd put on a par with those disposable cups you get a kids parties. If anybody wants some new Lexus bits (admittedly it's not an SE so the spec aint the best) feel free to come to my house, car will be locked but just lean on the window
  9. Welcome to LOC, Sorry to hear about the damage, seems there is a lot of envy out there at the moment to people who work hard and reward themselves with a nice car. I'm having a shocker at the moment with damage so can appreciate how your feeling. Scumbags the lot of them. Anybody got the number for the SOC? (Skoda Owners Club) - I might give them a call...
  10. Hi all, Thanks for all the words of support - good to know everybody is on the same side (not that I really expected anything less - this is the LOC afterall :winky: ) To answer but a few of the replies; Yes, it is one of the child seats in the picture - now have two new ones so £190 the lighter. On a plus side, the others were a year old so I now have nice new ones that match the new car :D One garage is well and truly emptied and I'm working on the other one so the other car can go away as well. Should have the window replaced at midday today so will be back waterproof! Bodywork and trim will be done on the 5th July!! Guy could do it on the 16th June but I'm on hols then. Not spoken to the police yet to see what's happening with the kid they caught, got my crime reference number so that'll be it I reckon. Cheers, Rich.
  11. He was pretty scared, only about 15 yrs old and I had him pinned up against a tree. Like I said, I shouldn't have gone looking really as ten minutes before his mate would have been there as well and I probably would have got stabbed for my trouble due to him carrying an offensive weapon. Whoever did it searched the armrest and glove box for stuff (probably SatNav and the like). They nicked my beer phone which is a Motorola V3. As it's rubish they're welcome to it, and as I work for Orange and deal with our security team a lot I'll know when it pops back up on a Network and with what number which I can then pass to the police. Might call it first though just to get him scared.. :tsktsk: little :tsktsk: , if I ever catch him I'll :tsktsk: ...probably call the police just to be safe Going through insurance as company car. Just annoyed really, and it filled my kids car seats with glass so probabably going to have to buy new ones now to be safe.
  12. Let me set the scene for you... Midnight last night, fast asleep in bed dreaming about what I would like to do (if retribution was legal) to the silly old git who drove into me last Friday, and also what I'd like to do to the little scrote who nicked my dust caps in London on Monday when in my dream I hear an alarm, a f*****' loud one at that. After a few seconds I realise this alarm is real and get up to investigate whereby I see the lights flashing on my lovely Lexus. Hhhmm, heard about alarm issues on the forum, maybe I had a faulty one too. Then I notice I can't see any light reflecting off the rear of-side door window, realising what's happened I'm up and out. Window gone, half a house brick in the footwell of the near side because luckily enough the little tw*t threw it so hard he managed to smash the speaker on the opposite door!. I had to wake the neighbour so I could put it in his garage as both mine are full with kids toys and garden furniture, we had a drive around and found one young lad walking with two bikes. Had a 'quiet' word with him and found out his mate had just been nicked for carrying an offensive weapon (good job he wasn't with him otherwise I'd be typing this courtesy of the NHS no doubt), went to the nick and spoke to plod and then went home. Piccies below of all the smashed loveliness, and Autoglass can't get the window until tomorrow afternoon. Marvellous. PS Sorry for the size of the pics
  13. I think if we are going to start comparing then a tank average is the only way. I could go and coast down the road, quick piccy and hey presto - I'm averaging 75mpg. My best tank full so far (of all three of them!!!) - average 41mpg, that is with 75% A roads and town driving and a bit of motorway, AC always on My worst (the last tankfull) was going to Manchester at the weekend for a stag do, 4 up, A/C all the way and getting a shift on :winky: was 36mpg average with what I've used so far, that includes two enormous traffic jams and the rest on the motorway at, well let's just say over 2000rpm in 6th Not as good as some dervs but I'm well happy.
  14. Cheers guys, I'm waiting for a decision from our fleet dept at the moment to see how they want to play it. Our insurance excess wil be pretty high so they may let me organise the repair and charge it straight to the business. Taking on board Chips Away's lack of ability to match silver it may be the bodyshop for me after all... For the car kit, as I work for Orange (well, their owners - France Telecom) a very good friend of mine is the Technical Manager responsible for our car install operations and can sort anything. The old Motorola kit had the daft American bint talking to you, they have released a new version, which handily I have, with a proper english accent. Much better. If people are interested in the same kind of thing they also do a lower spec model (IHF850 I think) with a few less voice commands but identical piece of kit. They are around £90 instead of £200 plus install.
  15. Well, last Friday got off to a good day with a new car kit fitted. I opted for the Motorola IHF-1000 as this is the one Lexus fit if you have it factory ordered. Have to say it is fantastic, has radio mute and the voice comes through the speakers, colour scheme matches the dash perfectly and has a superb set of voice commands. It can store 20 names in the unit and these remain even if you swap phones, really easy to use. Piccy below of the install, I had it mounted on the centre console rather than under the drivers side air vent as this was a more natural place for me to use it. No damage to the car, it is stuck on and the wire goes down the side of the gear lever surround. Now the bad bit, waiting in Tesco's car park to pull in a space when a half blind octagenarian :tsktsk: reverses straight into the car!!!!! Nothing too bad, damage is limited to broken reflector (been quoted £29.67), two deep scratches and a scuff. Now to my dilemma, this is no where near as serious as the damage Saracen is looking at right now but one of the replies said stay away from companies like Chips Away. Having never had the need to use them before, does anyone think they'd be suitable for this type of job? I could always go through insurance as it's company owned but I'd probably end up with a full bumper respray and a different colour!l Cheers.
  16. The mirror problem affects us all I think. Mine vibrates pretty badly at low revs and then the stereo affects it as well! The wing mirrors are big enough to compensate though which is lucky!
  17. I am having a similar experience but the lag is not to 2500 revs. The initial pull off (especially when warm and the idle revs have dropped) is sluggish but I am also not giving it the full monty yet as the car has only done 600 miles. This lag only lasts to about 1400 revs when the turbo is starting to spool up and the car picks up speed nicely. As you point out above though, the inherent turbo diesel trait of ...wait....wait...wait...bang, full turbo!! does catch me out a bit as well as the power suddenly arrives in one go. I think max torque is from 2000 so it should be flying by then. Might be worth trying a demonstrator car to compare. Make sure it's a later build one as the engines seem to be different as the earlier threads show consumption of about 33mpg average and rough feeling and I'm up at the 40 mark with not a lot of distance driving and the engine is all but silent and really smooth. If there is a difference then you may be able to get the management system re-flashed with the latest software to fix any fuelling problems you might have. Rich.
  18. Hhhmmm, interesting choice. Have you actually driven one yet? A guy at work is currently driving around in a 55 Vogue diesel as his RR Sport only works for a few weeks at a time before blowing turbos and having to go back in for repair. The full size rangey is a very nice car, enormous and very imposing with a superb interior. For a long journey it is great, for parking anywhere other than empty car parks it gets a bit more hairy as the corners of the thing seem very far away... The only concern would be performance, they weigh as much as the moon but the 3.0D V6 is seriously underpowered for something this size. As a benchmark which is applicable to this site, it has less power and torque than the 2.2 four pot in my 220d!!! 0-60 in 13.6 seems optimistic, they take an age to get going but are great once on the move. Very nice car, but just not for those in a hurry or of a timid nature Rich.
  19. Not sure how much new ones will cost, probably be around £80 - £100 from what I've experienced before from dealers. I can sort you out with a black set which are brand new, still wrapped up. The only downside is they have Arval stiched into them. Got them with my car last week but the Lex dealer gave me proper ones and left these in the boot. Apparently shaped to fit but I can check if you're interested... Rich
  20. I only said I checked the first sentence for errors..
  21. I have to agree completely, it's laziness to simply rely on spell checkers or the T9 dictionary on a phone to check what you've written. *check first sentence for errors* *breathes a sigh of relief* As for CV's, that's a black mark straight away. I once received one stating the applicant had good 'Attentoin to detail' for Gawds sake! Another pet hate of mine is when people e-mail in TXT SPK. Lazy swines, how hard is it to type Regards instead of Rgds. And don't get me started on the acronym for 'See You Next Tuesday'...C U N, oh hang on Bring back the three R's, whatever they were????
  22. priorypcclinic & Rich_Bee. If you want to get an early start about the "toys" in your new cars, you can get all (I think) the manuals online at the US LOC website. Happy reading. :) Rap03, Cheers for the tip :) . I wrote the reply on the 2nd My, drove off to Bristol and got a call from Lexus saying it was ready. Picked it up 3pm that afternoon! Not even half way through the manual yet! Rich.
  23. I'm in a similar situation as still got 6 days to go, but as far as I know and what others have stated... 1) Can the MM system read cd-rw's? Yes it can, the system cannot read DVD-R for MP3's however (Don't stick any labels on, may cause the CD's to jam) 2) I have written the wma's at 192kbps will this play ok Concensus is that this is the best bit rate to use, any lower and the quality difference starts to show due to the sheer brilliance of the ML system 3) Does the system display ID3 tags? From what I've read, yes. 4) Can the MM System handle folders? Yes, maximum 'depth' is 8 levels. Also, I believe it's better to tray and avoid mixing WMA and MP3 files but a current owner will help better with this Cheers and hopefully the time will pass quickly till it arrives!
  24. I think you'll struggle with stone chips as the warranty will only cover elements attributable to manufacturing defects or a fault in 'workmanship'. Surface rust from the chips these may well be covered early in the cars life but I've never heard of it being anymore than 3 years. General corrosion cover can last up to 12 years but again, only for manufactured defects whereby the rust starts from the inside or if there is an inherent design fault leading to water collection etc. Rich.
