  1. There's nothing wrong with a base model, I love mine and not having to pay the extra company car tax plus the £55/month 'top up' I would have had to pay for an SE won it over for me. You still get all the toys and with the money you've saved could get some v nice alloys and have plenty of cash to spare. I think I would've have gone for MM over SE anyhow as it's so good but didn't get either :duh: As for reading the manuals, I've never heard such madness! Press everything till it does what you want it to - works for me! [obviously if your struggling to get the wipers to work or something equally important then it might just be worth having a quick check of the books :winky: ]
  2. I had a play with one of these at the weekend,. Worth a look as very small with a huge screen to view on (2.5") Nikon S5
  3. That's not quite right as if you needed 50%, and put 150/50 you get 3 and not 75. For the formula.. A1 - £150 A2 - 100 A3 - The percent you want to calculate ie 10 in this case A4 - =A1*(A3/A2) Remember to type the equals sign.. The easiest way however is to put A1 - £150 A2 - Percent you want to calculate A3 - =A1*A2 But, select Cell A2 and then on the formatting bar at the top of the worksheet, click on the % button.
  4. Not a chance. I will however be showing my support through the consumption of alcohol both here for the first match and then in Portugal for the remainder of the group stages :D Sunny days, beer and footie - perfect. And obviously wouldn't be the same without the wife [in case she ever figures out how to use a PC and finds this post :o ]
  5. What about the MM - if they got the rest so badly wrong maybe it has it by mistake..
  6. Not me, I like mine. Not the most exciting drive but v nice place to be. I haven't had any build issues however so that might have swayed my judgment. I loved my last car until it started to go wrong and then hated it for the remainder of the three years I had to keep it!!!
  7. I've filled it in for my SAAB. Not exactly a glowing review either
  8. That reminds me - for all you owners of 250/220's, as well as getting RAC cover for you for the first three years of ownership, you can also get your partner covered (it's people rather than car specific). You need to ring and register them though - 0800 169 0393
  9. You won't regret it. I was a proud owner of a trouble free IS200 for 80k miles, then went to SAAB. Had a 9-3 diseasel, utterly dreadful - everything broke in the first three weeks, had the hire car hassle also (Gold Skoda Fabia Estate anyone??). then got a 2.0t petrol replacement from SAAB, just as bad and pretty much replaced every part in three years. No I am back in the safe grasp of a Lexus again and I look forward to getting in it everyday - still making excuses to drive it after a month and still marvel at the amount of people who stare/check it out/ask about it wherever I go. I love it :D
  10. That was only this year... AA News Story I never remember anything important, just stuff I don't really need to know :duh:

  12. These are the T&C's. Relay should be free as I read it, Roadside assistance will only take you something like 1./4 mile or to nearest repairer, other transport is charged. What type of member was he/she when they were towed? RELAY What is covered Relay is an optional extra to Roadside Assistance available only to those who have paid the additional Relay subscription at least 24 hours before the breakdown occurred. Relay is available if Your Vehicle is immobilised on the highway following a breakdown more than a quarter of a mile from the Member's Home Address and the AA cannot arrange a local repair within a reasonable time; Relay provides recovery of Your Vehicle, together with the driver and up to a maximum of seven passengers to a single destination of Your choice on the UK mainland or in Northern Ireland (see also General Terms of Contract, clause 8j). If there are more people than the maximum allowed, the AA will seek to arrange, but will not pay for, their onward transportation. Note After Your Vehicle has been recovered by the AA, any subsequent repairs are the responsibility of the person who authorises the relevant repair work. The AA will have no responsibility for any such repairs and/or collection. What is not covered The recovery of any vehicle that the AA considers would be dangerous (including, but not limited to overladen vehicles) or illegal for the AA to load or transport; The recovery of any vehicle which is at or within a quarter of a mile of a Member's Home Address; A second or subsequent Relay, after the vehicle has been recovered following a breakdown; The transport of immobilised vehicles where the AA considers this to be part of a commercial activity, for example, to, from or for motor dealers or delivery companies; The transport of vehicles being used for racing, rallying, trials or time trials, autotests or other motor sports events. However, see also General Terms and Conditions, clause 17; Assistance following a breakdown or accident attended by the police or other emergency service, until the services concerned have authorised the vehicle's removal. If the police or emergency service concerned insist on immediate recovery by a third party, the cost of this must be met by You; Any incidental expenses that may arise during a recovery. The AA cannot accept any costs for passengers who do not accompany the vehicle while it is being recovered under Relay; The recovery of any vehicles bearing trade plates and/or which the AA has reason to believe have just been imported or purchased at auction; The recovery of horses or livestock; Ferry costs; Recovery following an accident (see General Terms of Contract, clause 12); If you join already requiring Relay and the AA is prepared to provide Relay cover for the breakdown concerned then, in addition to the increased premium referred to above, the AA is entitled to limit the relevant recovery under Relay cover to the maximum mileage notified at the time the request for the relevant assistance was made and to charge for recovery provided in excess of that mileage; All things excluded under General Terms of Contract.
  13. I reckon they look pretty good - the indicator does look big but that may be just because they are different to standard.
  14. It appears it's not as easy as normal.... :o First job is obviously to take the stereo out, our Technical Manager likened it to the scene in Indiana Jones when he's trying to swap the gold idol with the sand - precise, nerve tingling and a complete disaster if you get it wrong!!! Too much thinly painted plastic. As a rule it'll need a minimum of two people to get it out cleanly. For the connections, at the back of the unit there are two connectors, one is for the speakers and the other power. One of these is used to kill the sound [obviously the speaker one but they are not very well labelled] It's a very hard job but our TM said he's happy to speak to you/your fitter if needed to talk you through it. If you need his details PM me. The biggest worry is damage to the facia.
  15. I've had an unfortunate few weeks with my car and need some minor repairs done. Of the general consensus I got for chips away, I seem to remember most were negative - for the body repairs at least. You may have to canvass new opinion on their ability to repair wheels. Rich. 16. Mmmmmm perhaps Lexus turned up fixed it, Rich got in and now can't get out :D :D :D Well, they (it turned out to be the plain old RAC) turned up after two and a half hours. When he put the van in front of the car, everything was fine When he moved the van backwards, bingo, nothing working! We established when you press the button on the door to lock the car it 'speaks' to the fob (watch the red light blink as you do it) as we were trying to rule out dodgy keys or interference. Gave up after 30 mins after disconnecting battery and back as the car was locking fine. Went to it this morning and all is fine again, no mobile masts have been built near by as I'd know about it through work, just some intermittent interference. Who knows, will take the car in on Monday to have a once over just in case. I think interference is becomming worse, since found out my cousin got stranded in Milton Keynes. Paid a breakdown firm £80 to come out, he rolled the car back 10ft and all was fine - 'Happens here all the time mate, that'll be £80' Good news is been at Legoland with kids all day, knackered and sun burnt but at least I managed to get back into the car As a rule of thumb, if you have any issues trying to lock the car at anytime, move it to another space and try again. If it struggles to lock, it'll struggle to unlock as I found out. Thanks for all the answers as well, much appreciated. B)
  17. I'll have a look - if it'll let me back in... I have tried both remotes though, I remember the bit about holding the fob to the starter button to start it's just the getting in part that's stumping me at the moment.
  18. I reckon you're right. I called Lexus emergency response (twice as got cut off after waiting ten minutes the first time!) Then got through to the Toyota helpdesk and they'll be here by 10pm. The super heroes of car maintenance I tell ya!!!
  19. There is really only the fob. it contains a key inside which locks the glovebox and I'm guessing I could take some of the door handle off to unlock the car. Problem is, the immobiliser will still be active. Normally you just walk up and put your hand in the handle and it unlocks. The car is sensing the key though as the lights under the wing mirrors come on when you approach...just won't unlock..
  20. It's on its own on the drive where it always is!!! Confusing the hell out of me! :duh:
  21. Guys, I need a bit of help. The car won't let me in, luckily I'm at home and have tried both remotes but to no avail! Won't recognise my hand in the handle or open via button on remote (although the boot is open!), and I've tried both remotes to ensure it's not battery related. It let me in once then wouldn't lock back up. Now locked it, won't let me back in again!! Any ideas??? Ta.
  22. Very nice, I may have to invest in some of these. I was somewhat distracted by how shiny the car looked however, are you sure you've used it rather than just roll it in and out of the garage :D
  23. There are some big errors in the brochure for these... It shows the new IS has EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) as standard according to the specs, as well as BAS (Brake Assist) and TRC (Traction Control). At the top of the specs page it also says the 250 has VSC but not the 220d. :o At the bottom of the specs page it says the 220d has VSC but not the 250 The text version earlier in the booklet says the VSC is standard on all petrol IS's :duh: The blurb for the VDIM really only says it's the equivalent of the VSC but fitted to the 220d Sport only, it does say about anticipating situations though rather than reacting to them. Confused? You will be...
