  1. Does this connect to the amp or the stereo? Assuming it's the same as the first it's probably the stereo - in which case how does it cut in when you get a call (or does it not and you have to switch to CD1 to hear the phone audio)?
  2. You'll enjoy that, it's a strange experience as in normal driving it's very docile, to me felt no different to an IS250. Then get it over about 3.5k revs and it goes insane, the engine sounds incredible! I believe there's only 1 LFA around so can obviously only be in one place at one time, but assuming there's only 1 open road per day they must be moving it from one location to the next. My invite says refreshments will be provided all day so there will be something available, have booked in for drives of the CT, GS and LS but not too fussed about those to be honest, more interested in hearing the LFAs glorious V10 so hoping I'll have the time to pop in for at least a short while :)
  3. I've signed up to go to my local one tomorrow, but only if I get time. I've also been told that I will be able to see (and more importantly hear!) the LFA so that's the main reason I want to go down! Annoyingly you have to be 30 to test an IS-F so they won't let me drive one (despite the fact I've already tried one at my dealer )
  4. I think the end result we can take from this is that it isn't recommended but isn't necessarily going to cause any extra damage. I'd be interested to know from those who never use the parking brake what's the longest they owned one of those automatics though, because I wouldn't expect an autobox to fail after just a few years (high mileage is not an indicator) In fact I don't think anyone could argue that it doesn't cause extra wear, it is only whether the wear is relevant or not.
  5. This is the wheel, you can see the "down" buttons on the front, the "up" buttons are on the back :)
  6. No probs, as far as I know only the 2nd gen IS has an AWD saloon (again not in the UK market though)
  7. That's odd as I know other members have used that key in the IS200 and it works fine, which means that the RX perhaps is more sensitive about the transponder being right next to the lock.
  8. I don't believe there was an AWD IS300, but the estate version was available in Japan with AWD.
  9. Hi mate, has got quieter round here but some of the oldies are still about :)
  10. As above there are buttons on the wheel, which I've not used but do look too small to be that useful. Plus I believe the box doesn't allow you to manually select 1st, only down to 2nd.
  11. In actual fact the engines in the GS and the RX are quite different, as the RX one runs the atkinson cycle whereas the GS has a pretty normal engine geared towards performance. The RX engine has 245hp while the GS has 296hp. Based on all that I would expect the RX to be a fair bit more economical than the GS, and that makes the results in this thread even more disappointing. As you say they don't really make a lot of sense if saving fuel is the key issue, however if you are a business user paying company car tax then they really are a no brainer.
  12. The car will not go anywhere in park so it should be perfectly secure - however I don't like the idea of the car being held that way when auto boxes are so expensive to replace, so I would always stick the parking brake on when the car is parked up.
  13. I ran 8000K for a while and if you want some blue that's the way to go, 6000K is more white with a hint of blue and the 5000K I have now is pretty much pure white.
  14. I'm pretty sure it does have one that lives out of sight under the rear spoiler :)
  15. Good point, the whole point of a tracker is that they don't know it's there, otherwise they'll just look for it and disable it. That's part of the reason when my car was stolen it was parked in a car park not far from where I live to see if it was picked up - unfortunately for them the police found it anyway despite it not having a tracker
  16. Sounds like pretty good service, did you end up having to pay any customs charges?
  17. So that is effectively £400 for centre caps! Will the wheels off the GS or LS not fit on an SC430?
  18. Probably have to try to get one at a breakers as I'm not sure if you can get that button on its own.
  19. Have a look on the WIM site, they have affiliated centres all over the country now so there will definitely be one not far from you.
  20. Good question, but I think when they pick the car up from above you can never hold it level anyway, plus the car knows it's being picked up. I've seen it several times that when cars get towed for being illegally parked they get picked up horizontally but it sets off the alarm (which is quite annoying if you're nearby!) Would be interesting to test it out on a ramp at a garage or something if a perfectly level lift would set the alarm off or not :)
  21. It is definitely 60K or 6yrs so yours is due, and the reason this was done is that some belts were wearing prematurely. However perhaps get someone to inspect the belt to make sure it looks ok to make sure if you want to run it a bit longer?
  22. I can't see in normal driving how the LSD would make much of a difference, as surely the traction/stability control would cut in before the LSD has a chance to work its magic. I've only driven a 2010 car but thought the ride was fine, if the 2011 is even better that's obviously no bad thing but you'd have to try it for yourself to see whether it makes a difference worthy of the price hike you'll have to pay for the newer car.
  23. To be honest I was shocked when I found out the 1st gen IS didn't have a tilt sensor, so I'd be less shocked if the IS-F doesn't have one either If it does have one, there has to be a way to disable it - so if there's no switch in the car to do so and there's nothing in the manual explaining how to switch it off then I'd guess that it doesn't have one. But as others have said there are only two ways to steal modern cars, take the keys or physically pick it up and take it away - not much you can do about the first but a tilt sensor would help as a deterrent against the second.
