  1. Don't have any personal experience of it but I think that was the pre-crash system thinking that you were in danger of hitting something - bizarre that it was set off by a car on the other side of the road!
  2. Have you tried Lexus Edgware Road by any chance? Not that long ago did some purely speculative looking and they offered me double what Woodford did for my car - admittedly a relatively old IS200 but still a surprising difference. Have to agree about the IS250C, very underpowered, how the decision not to bring the IS350C was reached I have no idea (especially at the prices they are trying to charge). I'm also not hugely keen on the way it looks, but obviously that's more of a personal preference. I fully understand the large engined cars taking a big hit, but the GS450h is reasonably ok in terms of running costs so I'm surprised it's so bad, probably a combination of the lack of boot space and the GS is due for replacement next year.
  3. Unfortunately I don't think the GS (and many other large cars) hold their value very well in the early parts of the their life, not really worth buying one new if you're going to change it soon after. Remember a few years ago looking at a GS450h Sport my dealer had on the forecourt - this is a car that listed at around £47k if I remember correctly (similar to what yours probably cost), it was 9 months old with a few thousand miles on the clock on at £27,995. Having said that as you're buying another Lexus I'd expect them to do a decent deal on the final cost to change - which dealers have you approached so far?
  4. The Parrot MKi9200 is probably the best kit out there right now as it does everything - bluetooth, iPod, USB, SD and bluetooth music streaming. I have something very similar in my car (Bluetouch) but it's a bit older so can't accept SD-HC cards (over 2GB) but otherwise it's a great kit also that I'm very happy with.
  5. Used to be able to get them from Lexus, are they out of stock now?
  6. As Mat has mentioned it must be the antenna - they're powered so make sure a connection hasn't come loose and I'm sure I've read about instances where these have failed so it might need replacing.
  7. Isn't that only in sport and manual mode that it locks up the torque converter after 1st gear? Don't know a huge amount about modifying the IS-F but I'm sure there must be adjustable suspension kits out there for it that may allow raising the ride height slightly - again something maybe the US forums may have more information on.
  8. Good stuff, that was very cheap so if you got a better deal than that you did very well indeed
  9. You might find one at a breakers but for such a random part best bet might be a Lexus/Toyota dealer - sometimes they're the cheapest option so always worth contacting them first.
  10. Congratulations mate, they're lovely cars :) Did you buy the one at Lexus Woodford by any chance? If so that was on at a very good price :winky:
  11. Shouldn't be any problems with pairing really with any phone, but the phonebook transfer is a well known issue and only a handful of phones work. Think there's a guide somewhere on the Lexus site that tells you which ones work and which ones don't - off the top of my head I think it's the sonyericsson ones that are best at it.
  12. Welcome! The satnav unit is in the boot next to the spare wheel, to update just get the latest DVD and swap them over. You'll get the hang of programming the satnav with a bit of use, basics are just hit "dest", "address", type in street name and follow the rest of the instructions :)
  13. Not 100% on that side of things either, sorry mate - I'm sure someone must know how easy it is to get to though :)
  14. No worries, there is a bit of confusion around this so I'm just going with what Lexus say. It's mainly because the GS300 is 100k or 10yrs so some think the IS300 was the same. I suppose you could inspect the belt on a regular basis and try and go longer, but I'd be inclined to err on the side of caution and just get it changed every 6 years to save a hefty repair bill should it fail.
  15. Looks very nice mate, very similar to mine :winky: As others have said mpg won't be great, a full tank for me now is about £85 and I get max 350 miles out of that but I have a heavy right foot Regarding what it's worth, maybe £3-4k? Hard to tell really, have a look somewhere like autotrader to see what similar cars are going for.
  16. Yep just tap into the sidelight wiring - not sure which is positive or negative though, but a multimeter should be able to help you with that?
  17. According to the service schedule from when I had the cambelt done it's definitely 6 years, it's only the mileage that was changed for the 200 but the timing never changed.
  18. People have had success with both the grom and xcarlink adapters so I think either should be fine.
  19. That does actually look pretty good, but I agree I think a leather retrim might look better!
  20. Yep it was 100k originally, but they had instances of premature wear so it was reduced to 60k. I'm sure in some cases it will last longer but not necessarily worth taking the risk given the cost of repair should the belt let go.
  21. I think it's part of the Lexus service schedule to inspect the belt at some point but not sure how often it's done. It shouldn't need replacement before 60k or 6 yrs though.
  22. I hadn't heard of this essentials thing either, but my dealer offers significantly lower rates for work on my car because it's older (and I've been a customer a while). Perhaps it's the same thing but they just didn't use the name, but they always stamp my service book.
  23. As mentioned it's not in the highway code, my first experience of it was bus drivers using it and then it slowly spread - does anyone know if it was something that bus drivers were actually told to do or did it just evolve?
  24. Having seen one of these in the flesh I have to admit it's not quite as bad looking as I thought - still think the rear is the problem point but it's not nearly as hideous as it looks in pictures. Don't really want one as it's not my kind of car, but it's a decent alternative to the other similar hatchbacks out there. None of them have an interior as nice as the Lexus.
