  1. It's all about personal preference, my car's almost 9 years old but I still service it at Lexus - worth ringing around a few dealers though as I use Lexus Woodford and I don't think it really costs that much more than a decent independent so I don't mind paying a bit more for the extra peace of mind.
  2. If we do get a GS-F I'd expect it to have the IS-Fs engine, not a hybrid but we'll have to wait and see.
  3. In that case I'll be less harsh on them if there was a legitimate reason for leaving out the rear centre seat. You're right though, I get complaints about the centre seat in the IS200 as well, it is supposedly not a comfortable place to be.
  4. As above it's the photochromic fluid, I'm sure I've read a similar thread many years ago but can't remember what the solution was, could be worth having a search.
  5. If those are the ones I'm thinking of I think the circle in the middle of the brake light is a reflector.
  6. I fitted a LHD set to mine as well and exactly as above, brake pedal cover simply comes off so just swap those over, accelerator pedal need to knock the pins out and swap pedal. Footrest is the one that needed quite a bit of modification to make it fit.
  7. I'm pretty sure the discs aren't the same, there is variation depending on which generation of satnav system you have. Might be wrong, but I'm quite confident that's how it works.
  8. As above, cambelt change is every 6 years or 60,000 miles whichever comes first.
  9. It's hard to tell given Lexus's past history. The LF-Sh pretty much went straight from concept to production as the current LS, but the LF-Ch underwent a lot of (unfortunate) modification before becoming the CT200h. I hope this one stays untweaked though as it does look good despite being heavily influenced by other cars.
  10. Nice looking car, bit unoriginal in that it looks like a 5 series with a mutated Audi grille but still looks good.
  11. Yep you'd definitely need a roof box if you were to take any sort of trip in it. The part that's worse in my opinion is that development has moved on quite considerably recently that the hybrid is no longer a class leader. Obviously it's a relatively old car now so the next version of this will definitely be better but how much better can they make it? As an example, I recently got some info on the new CLS and was staggered by the quoted figures (mainly in comparison to our older CLS, but also when compared to the GS450h) The new CLS350 does 0-60 in 6.1s, compared to 5.9s in the GS. Combined mpg is 40.9 compared to 36.7 in the GS. CO2 emissions are 161 compared to the GSs 179g/km. Mercedes is usually pretty accurate with their mpg figures too, so I found the numbers quite surprising.
  12. The S has no amp and 6 speakers, the SE and Sport have an amp and 8 speakers. There's no sub in any of the saloons, only the sportcross has a sub in the boot.
  13. Well done mate, shouldn't be too hard to replace the gear knob. Also if you only have one master key (the black one with 3 buttons) worth getting another and programming it to be safe. Unfortunately the ERR3 was an inevitability with the early stereos, wasn't a question of if but more one of when! Best to replace it with an aftermarket one :)
  14. That is a really nice job, looks great!
  15. That's really bad, throwing stones over the roof!? Seeing as it dented the bonnet that could do some serious damage to someone's head! Glad at least the parents aren't complete t**ts and will sort it out - although doesn't help that they're on benefits as we're all paying for that Hills/Lexus Woodford have a really good and reasonably priced bodyshop - worth a quote as it might not be far off a quality independent.
  16. Welcome to LOC! The IS200 is pretty solid really, not really any rust issues so if you have some it really is a one-off so would be worth checking to see what's caused it. The cambelt change was revised by Lexus many years ago, it is 6 years or 60k so yours should really have been changed about 1-2 years ago..........sounds like you just got it in time!
  17. The OP said he has an IS220 - I didn't realise the mk2 IS sill plates had the same problem with water ingress :)
  18. 9" does fit but may need a bit of arch modification and not sure if you'd need to run a slightly lower offset (have I got that the right way round?) Either way I think Ormi will know the answer to this, so might be worth sending him a PM (if he hasn't seen this thread)
  19. If it's your dad's car I think you'd be a better judge than us as to whether it's a good example! :P Seriously though looks a very tidy car, mine's very similar (same colour, bodykit, auto but has satnav and is on an 02 plate) and I was offered £4.5k by my Lexus dealer in p/ex a few months ago. So I'd £4.5k is probably a reasonable price, but again if it's your dad I'm sure you can come to some agreement :) The IS200 is not a great car on fuel, and the autos are even worse, as well as being quite slow. The box itself is a good one, but it's not a fast or economical car. I average about 23mpg, if mainly town driving don't really get better than 21mpg, although I'm not that gentle with the throttle pedal
  20. I'd have to agree about the boot, it is a major compromise.
  21. Nope, the nav drive is in the boot under the floor next to the spare wheel.
  22. Sorry my mistake, thought I had read in the past that it was just 6th gear. Just googled it and you're absolutely right, it's the gear ratio in the differential that was changed.
