  1. Yep im getting same problem, shaking between 50-60. Felt the calipers after a 30 mile run and one was red hot while the other is cold...looks like i'm going to need a new caliper to me. why does noone on ebay sell Lexus alternative calipers lol. Probably gonna cost me about £400+ in parts and labour.
  2. Don't forget one very important element....make sure each spark plug has the correct feeler guage gap! Not sure what it is, but im sure someone else will post it up. Even if they're new spark plugs, the gap between the ground electrode and center electrode may have changed during transit.
  3. Well, Kwit fit took my wheels off and got rid of the sqeeking by cleaning the calipers (front). But now it shakes between 50-60mph, and im sure it never used to do that, even the gear stick shakes...but it seems to do it on certain roads and i've been going through the same road for 2 yrs and it does not feel like it's the road causing this as the shake is too even. Anyway..will be going to Dr Bones to get the tracking done at some point as its had uneven tire wear from day one. Had them rebalance the front wheels (can't see how it became unevenly balanced just from taking the wheels off and putting it back on), but no joy. Will take the rears off and redo them myself to see if it corrects this. Oh and they managed to chip a large chunk of paint of my nice calipers!!! Watch this space....
  4. Took mine to kwit fit, they cleaned and lubricated the pads on the near side front. There was no noise after a 6 mile drive, but will find out once i drive to work and back. Also noticed alot of cars on the road after bad weather has sqeeky brakes. They said the pads are fine and so are the disc, so as long as its not something thats damaged its fine. But they say it could possibly be that my calipers were painted and has not given enough movement for the pads to move, hence the sqeek.
  5. Yep, i know when i have to cut my nails when i go to turn the stereo and my nail just taps and scores a thin line on the center console lol. No im not a female..
  6. Yep, i've questioned about that too, but i suppose you can't have everything lol p.s Damn you pipestrangler (Ian) for cutting off ur avator!! lol
  7. I've been getting same problem only recently as "A" about the Whistling when turning left and after a while on straight only when doing between 30-45 miles per hr. But mine sounds like the back, had people at the garage check out the rear, pads are fine and the front ones are only 9 months old and i don't brake hard at all. They told me to just clean it out as it could be dirt etc, but it does it on straight when im not even braking so that rules out dirt and theres no score mark on disc. I will probably post up reason once i have cured it.
  8. I've got a platinum ice coloured is200 bonnet with very few stone chips, no rust or dents that's stored in the shed, as ive got a carbon one. The problem is i live in the South East. PM me if ur interested
  9. ...is that a "his" and hers" bikes lol? I had a bike which was in same colour combination as my lexus (before i joined this forum and started modding it). Sadly i sold it cos i don't have the time for it and knew people who could maintain it better than me. It had more tread and bigger wheels than my lexus lol
  10. Was on a date the other day (go me! lol) and was sitting in the car and i was wondering how long the CD player can play (with very low volume) before the car won't start cos of low battery power? I don't have amps or woofers, just slightly higher wattage rear speakers and aftermarket stereo. I was so scared that the car won't start that i kept the car running for 2 hrs lol while we was chatting in the car.
  11. I've got a few question you may also want to ask. The valet key doesn't have a boot opening facility, but does open the car and you can manually pull the boot opening on the right, next to the driver seat (so that defeats the object of not having the boot open facility as secruity). Also why can't you use the key to open the door (by pluging it into the car lock) on the lexus at all without the alarm going off, even to this day i can't understand the logic behind this. Which means why did they bother putting a key lock on the door at all in the first place if you can't use it?
  12. It might be worth changing the idler and tensioner as suggested by many members here, was watching a set toyota ones on ebay for i think £150 (belt, idler and tensioner), so for £190 it'll be just the belt i guess, but still good price.
  13. I had one of my TRD badge at the front taken off before. I always check it before i leave my car out on public road. So now the one i got is also doubled cable tied, at least it will take an effort to get it off and might be a good deterrent.
  14. So whens the first time you saw a Lexus is200 and what made you buy it? I think the first time i saw a lexus was when it must have been around 5-7 yrs ago in Hong Kong (may have been an Altazza, but they are similar in apperence to the is200). There was quite a few about and at the time i didn't know that alloys was standard and that kinda highlighted the car for me..took me a long while to get one, think i was driving a red Ford Escort back then lol. I think even today theres no car on the market that looks as nice as the is200 (without going into the unless you earn millions a yr job!)
  15. I use my is200 to get to work and back at no more and no less than 33.4 miles a day and i know the road through the country and A roads so well i learnt to cut down on gear change and braking (which contributes to higher fuel econ), and i never go over 3000rpm or around 55-60 at any point in the journey (when i goto work why hurry? i just make sure i have plenty of time and when going home i like to just enjoy driving with music to wind down after a days work at the office). If you're like me, i also warm the car up before i start driving. This is where you ask, so why get a 2 litre car if you're going to be like that? Well because like some of you here i like a bit of oomph when i need to, sorry but a 1.1 litre just doesn't cut it for me, especially when you're going from stand still at round abouts when its busy and you need to get through a gap in the traffic. Oh and looks of the car ofcourse!
  16. Just found out (but i may be wrong..hence why i have posted so i could be corrected if i have made a mistake..). You know when you leave your car and it auto locks itself within a few minutes, it doesn't do it when it's in gear. I found this out when i was cleaning my car and i have a habit of only pulling the handbrake by two clicks and if the rolls, i stick it in first so it stops it from rolling backwards. After getting out of car and carried on waxing the rest of the car and I'm sure i didn't hear the auto lock come on as i opened the door after a good 10-15 minutes. But then, i did also have all four windows ajar as i was cleaning them. Can anyone else clearify this?
  17. Im with Adrian Flux, they beat Directline which i was with for 2 yrs by £130. You will also get £20 off if you are gold member on here..
  18. Maybe the gunners thought you was a under cover police car, or maybe it was a blackbird that flew into ur car lol
  19. I'll be getting mine done at next service, but i might go and get all the belts changed as well as it's getting serviced anyway, like many have said, it's best to be safe than sorry!
  20. I think it's robs idea to press the acc b4 turning the key..if u search my posts u will see i've had this problem for like a yr....car doesn't start, second turn never starts, but always starts on third.. i've been using Robs idea and it's been nearly a month and the car has always started, so i think it may be a solution (if you can call it a solution). The way i do it is, (got a habit of only inserting key in when alarm light is off between blinking) insert key in, turn on to do engine check etc etc, wait for them to finish, press on the acc pedal down for 10 seconds, depress the acc pedal and turn key to start car. Like i said many times b4, i get this not starting business like once or twice a month (hot and cold), so far it's not happened since ive been using Robs method, but then it's a very intermittent fault (and very embrassing when in work car park and they see a lexus not starting (even worse when someone is in ur car like a date lol). But yeah, im also waiting for the real reason for this fault, so i will carry on using Robs method...
  21. Best of all, apparently it costs nothing according to the website LOL
  22. Can't say i don't get that too tbh, but i just ignore it as i think it may just be me when im on a hyper, so it would seemed slow. Other thing could be fuel wise, sometimes i have last 1/4 tank of unleaded and then i'll fill it up with premium unleaded. Car seems the same wether it's on full tank or near empty. Lastly maybe the ecu has learned the way you drive, so when u suddenly change it's trying to compensate fuel usage.
  23. Ah, thought you had to connect it to the front of the car, like from the engine bay! lol....so i also take it that something is already connected to it, like ecu has to take the readings from it? or is it like a aux, only used for engine management and nothing is connect to it normally? I will duck down to take a look this weekend, must remind myself to clean the acc pedal incase of doggy poo lol
  24. Auto glass have some kind of guarantee for workman ship etc and they actually cured the problem i had to begin with when water used to leak into the car at top left corner (when raining badly) as the rubber seal was badly put into place. On my document theres 4 items changed or used. I never knew about the wiperheating until autoglass asked me on the phone. Not sure what the codes are but i'll post them up if anyones intrested :- 8309agnbhv1u 8309asms pser00400a pser01226a not sure if the "0" are "O"s as in the word "OWL" or Zeros lol KevLex ur lexus workshop manual doesn't happen to be on a cd from ebay is it? lol, cos i have one!
  25. I got charged £282.87 for one NSF brake caliper (including labour), bleed brakes and new front pads £179 (at £99 per Hr labour), oh and £1.30 for brake fluid. In all £463.17. This was done though lexus dealer, wish i took it down the road and got Toyota garage to do it (which I later found out thats where they take the car anyway!). This is where i get slagged off for paying that much and can be done by corsavandal (forum user) for a fraction of the price and sparkystav will under cut him by £5. lol
