  1. The three control knobs light up with the lights but the LCD only lights up with the ignition on.
  2. Looks good B) How much difference do the larger intercoolers make? Just wondering how they perform as so much of it is behind bumper/crashbar/trim, so won't get any airflow. Or is just the principle of less restriction due to the bigger area? What sort of price is the earthing kit? Is it worth getting one for a non-modded GS300?
  3. and what is your reasoning behind that statement? unless the arm is damaged somehow there is no need to replace it. In comparison its like saying well the tyre is worn so i will replace the alloy wheel also I agree with Rob if the bottom balljoint is the same setup as the GS300. The balljoint is bolted to the bottom of the hub and then connected to the arm via the balljoint on the GS, if it is the same on the IS then there is nothing to be gained from changing the arm.
  4. Good luck :) Did you buy the bulbs from Lexus/Toyota or did you get them from elsewhere?
  5. Would be worth checking the brake backing plate to see how much clearance around the disc there is. If it is very close, you can bend them about a bit to increase the clearance.
  6. I've fitted them myself to my mk1 GS300, I went for the 6000K bulbs myself as I don't like blue. No aggro from anyone so far.
  7. The supply for the amp is the 25A fuse labelled "Rad No. 1" in the engine bay fusebox.
  8. Is a 2000 and 2001 model the same? This link shows a valve assembly and an actuator, the valve has eight holes in it presumably one for each cylinder. The parts don't look expensive but maybe the labour to fit them is (assuming this is the valve in question)? Linky
  9. Those cameras don't take a picture of you, they just read number plates from one to the other and work out your speed as you pass. There are stories that you have to be in the same lane as you pass each one but there are equally as many that say you don't, and that only certain ones track the plates, but again just as many that say they all do. I go through the same stretch of the M1 at about the same time of night as you on a Thursday going north, and a Monday going south. I'm convinced the things just don't work because of how many people fly through there, but I'm not about to try it myself having 6 points at the moment on my license. I can't believe there would be that many people getting caught in them everyday. The thing that makes me laugh about the whole setup, is that it used to be 40mph through there, and there were so many crashes that they put it up to 50. There still seems to be more accidents through there now than there ever used to be so I'm not sure what they are meant to be achieving. I don't really get folk that complain about being one of the "careful" people being caught, if you speed, you aint being careful so just take it on the chin. The muppets on the road that use it as a rally track will get what is coming to them at some point, they can't stay lucky forever. Whether you are an occasional or a consistant speeder, you are flauting the rules and riding your luck, luck runs out sooner or later. If someone drove at 50 just once past a school and killed a kiddie, they don't deserve any special treatment IMO just because they had never done it before. FWIW, I suspect you will not hear anything anyway.
  10. You would probably need lower profile tyres than the GS runs on them. There are also two sizes of those real wheels available, the ones in the pic you show look like the 8" wide rears, the other version like on mine are 10" wide, might be more work involved on putting the 10" versions on the back.
  11. I'm not up to speed on LS400's but depending on what year yours is, you could check these chaps out Lexus Cats
  12. I guess you could, or just buy the 6500K bulbs for "HID Kits", they come with the wires on and the relevent socket.
  13. My kit had the connector wires (that go to your car loom) wired up the wrong way round. I just poped the pins out using small screwdriver to release them and swapped them over. All was good after that. Leave everything as it is going to the ballast, just swap the pins round on the kit connector that goes to your cars loom. You can temporarily fit the connector to the loom the wrong way round to check, but it wont stay on properly 'cos of the latch, but it does mean you can test it before swapping the pins around.
  14. Hi, the bulbs are soldered into the holders and have green rubber "dobbers" over the top to give the green light. The bulbs may well be available seperately else where but not from Lexus/Toyota. Having done soldered bulb swaps on my BMW, they do not solder well and success is a bit hit and miss. I just took the easy route Incidentally, I did see the "dobbers" for sale seperately elsewhere, cant find the link at the moment, so if you fancied blue instead of green, that would be an easy job. Not sure how easy it would be to change the colours in the stereo, but if I ever find a fascia panel to replace the stereo with my own, I will be dabbling into that and taking the factory unit appart to have a look.
  15. There was a vid/pics on here recently of a black IS with orange wheels, I thought that looked the business.
  16. What Anti virus stuff have you scanned with? AVG is free from here http://free.grisoft.com/ and has triggered virus alerts where Norton and others have failed. the spyware stuff already mentioned are also worth a shot, I use Spybot, adaware and spyware blaster once a week to try and keep things at bay. Might also be worth going to microsoft.com and getting the latest download of their malicious software removal tool, and make sure your windows update is up to date to.
  17. No help on how to get to the passenger side lamp etc, but I mounted the ballast on my GS300 under the head lamp in the big space in the front bumper. It was easy to do with the indicator removed. Keeps it all nice and tidy and out of sight.
  18. The HB4's should be your dip beams, the HB3's the main beams. Maybe the other set of HB4's are for your fogs.
  19. I think all of the cheap kits of ebay are pretty much equal to each other, not a lot of loot lost if you don't like them. Colour temp of bulbs is personal choice, I'm not into the blue lights, so I got the 6000K white. They are great.
  20. Does anyone know if there is an overhaul kit available for starter motors, specifically a '96 GS300? Just swapped mine over for a second hand unit so want to overhaul the one that came off. Symptoms were clicking from the solenoid, but motor not turning. After many key turns it would spring into life. A part number would be great. Cheers Rick
  21. I've used peanut butter for years. Removes white deposits left on trims from polish too :winky:
  22. I've not had a rear door panel off on mine, but the front door panel was as Chip said.
