  1. The Lexus manual I have specifies Lithium soap base glycol grease for lubricating the piston seals and slide pins.
  2. Is this the same for the Mk1 GS300's? yes, they basically have the same engine Cheers. That is quite comforting to know.
  3. True, but unfortunately the law still has specific sizes and spacings. Just luck of the draw if you get pulled for it. That's why the companies that will produce plates with incorrect fonts and spacings sell them under the caviat that they are show plates (i.e. not for road use).
  4. Not sure if the backlighting is the same/similar to the GS300 but maybe this post I did could help Clicky
  5. You could DIY one for your sunglasses. I have a vauxhall one in my Mk1 GS300 where a grab rail would be for the driver. Works a treat.
  6. Check out your Lexus dealer for a price. I asked Lexus the other day how much they were for a GS300 (alhough I did get some second hand from a member here) and they were £88 which I thought was a pretty damn good price. The Thule set up I got for my BMW 325 Coupe cost more than that.
  7. One thing I found when I did my GS300 front springs was that none of the ball joint splitters I had were big enough to go around the actual stud end of the ball joint. They are a pretty hefty size. A right :tsktsk:
  8. I guess that one would fit, I would be inclined to get just the mast though (available on ebay). I'm not sure if the one you posted would adjust at frequencies and stuff like that. I bought two masts from America on ebay which worked out at about £20 delivered. Means I have a spare in the boot incase mine gets snapped again. Yeah, an easy fix. AC Bulbs Bad timing, there was a changer unit that ended earlier today on ebay for a MK1 GS. Mine do fold manually. That annoys me too, I'm going to try and sort that, I'll let you know the details once I'm done. If the tyres are 225/55 R16, the pressures listed in the manual are My indicators flash when the alarm is armed, a quick flash for the first press of the button and a longer flash if you press the button a second time to disable the interior detectors. No chirping though. I've not noticed any combined key/remotes for the MK1 unless you get a non factory alarm set up. Doesn't mean there aren't any, just not seen any when I've looked around. Mine has a 70 AH battery fitted. Yeah, my boot is heavy (has a rear spoiler fitted too. I might try some dampers on mine.
  9. Took them a while to get a drivers window for my Mk1 GS300. I had to have a make shift perspex panel put in to tide me over.
  10. Grow a spine and tell her she can't After that, make sure you get custody of it in the divorce settlement
  11. I had the same on my Mk1 GS300 starter motor when it was on its way out. The solenoid would not throw out properly which just gave a click, and then occasionally once it had started the car it would stay engaged. I changed the starter and have the old one in the garage awaiting spare cash to get the refurb bits for it.
  12. I guess it depends how blue, I have white LEDS in my sidelights which have a bluey tinge to them (white LEDS all seem to be that way) and I've had no problems. If they are a full on blue colour, then they would definately be illegal. Whether you get pulled for them or not seems to be a lottery.
  13. It was always the arse end of the MK2 that I couldn't get on with. If I could have the front of a MK2 and the rear of the MK1, that would be a fine looking car IMO. As I can't, overall I think the Mk1 has it over the Mk2 and would agree does seem to have a much better presence. I think the 10" rear rims make all the difference too, but maybe I am biased
  14. If I could manage to find a fascia panel for a right hand drive MK1 then mine might be available, unfortunately they seem even rarer than the factory stereo components. I would think there are probably a few at breakers yards available.
  15. Yup, there is a sub slung up under the rear parcel shelf. As Mudzs says, the amp is under the CD changer in the O/S boot well. There are a few different shots of my centre console etc in this thread clicky. I can do some more of what ever you need tomorrow if there is something more specific you are after.
  16. I drove the car this morning and the steering wheel is off centre, stop get out and walk back behind the car, NS rear whhel is toeing in a lot, so the car's crabbing :tsktsk: Took it to Supreme's in Basildon as I'm told they do a good job, they think about £2200 with out knowing the exact prices of parts. It's definately an insurance job, and I can't drive it so i guess I'll have a lovely Corsa or Punto loan car over Christmas B) Went to Lexus Southend £37 for the little plastic trim inside the wheel arch, rear door moulding ( painted ) £357,rear arm £95 and a wheel rim £292, plus a wheel centre geometry check and a tyre. Those figures don't sound good. I'm guessing you will have a fight to prevent it from being written off if you do take it through the insurance route :(
  17. Are you sure its not just the road surface and the car handles differently than other cars you've had? Maybe check all your dampers are OK with a bounce test, just to see if one corner is on its way out?
  18. No such luck mate. The manual doesn't even show the stereo that mine has (with the second smaller LCD display for the station name).
  19. Scary stuff Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=1RCdnproD2k
  20. No problem mate, I wasn't pointing him in the direction of the sensors on that site (as he has had them replaced and the garage are going to replace them again), it was the cat if he needed it :winky:
