  1. How many times were you pulled over with standard plates? Sounds like a positive thing to me- Police more likely to recover your car if it's got illegal plates on- there's money in it Disclaimer: Above is totally tongue in cheek
  2. not you're typical gangland area then...seems a tad strange
  3. Where abouts ? Can't see anything on the news? Always a little scary when something like that happens
  4. Agree with Mike above and that matches what I'm getting......but any kind of stop/start driving and your going to be in sub 20 territory. Given the short distance you do (it will only just have warmed up) - I'd possibly go for a 430 - There will be nothing in it in terms of consumption and its a completely different animal - You can surprise quite a few boy racers
  5. Hi These cars are very reliable but that is reliant on them being looked after. To be honest - the main cost of running a car like a lexus is not the purchase price at this level - Its the keeping it on the road. They are not the most fuel efficient (3 litre straight 6) and whilst very reliable - if something does go wrong its going to cost you. Also, just general running costs like tyres etc are not cheap. The biggie on an older GS is the Brake Master Cylinder - ~2 grand for the part alone......tend to fail around the 100K mark from others experience. Have the satnav in mine - which I do like - Stops all that fiddling about with wires, suckers and plugging things in - plus you get a position fix within seconds not minutes. The new portable units have a lot more functionality (postcode search, bluetooth etc) - I also have one of these for when driving other cars - but just like the fact I get in my Lexus and its all ready to go - without worrying about someone breaking into my car to steal it because theres a sticker mark on my window. Best of luck .... Edited because I stupidly put V6 iso straight 6 - Is it only Monday?
  6. Personally would make the trip to WIM but if you don't want to do the mileage there's a place called centre of gravity in atherstone
  7. I don't think you can beat a jailbroken iPhone but to be honest, it's all down to personal preference. I'd go to a shop and try them all-then make a decision. Most have very similar functionality so really it's down to feel and ease of use (for you)
  8. No matter how private your driveway is I cant believe you leave your kid in the car! I have 2 kids, and the yougest also regularly falls asleep whilst I'm driving (no comments please!) but when I get home - I lift him out and take him to the house.....easy......thats your solution......not how to disable the radar. Dont think they needed a parenting lesson on a Lexus forum what exacty is the the danger of your child sleeping in a locked car on a private driveway within your view None i would say, probably far less dangerous than if you were driving said car with child, along a road . Ive got 3 and all survived this practice....although the youngest is mentally scarred as i forgot to disable the alarm once Simply airing my view which is what I thought a forum was for. In the op IMHO it's an unnecessary risk as you will take them out in the end. What happens if you get distracted eg phone rings or you burn yourself in the kitchen? Not something I would risk

  10. I believe (although stand to be corrected) that; 1) Business account miles can be transferred 2) Personal account miles cant 3) You could get your wifes uncle to add you as an authorised card holder for their account - then you can use. Mark
  11. No matter how private your driveway is I cant believe you leave your kid in the car! 12. And I bet the same people also complain about the amount of lorries passing through their village.....its a sad state of affairs we are in where the minority are trying to dictate to the majority. A few complaints out of 7 million viewers - I bet Brown wishes he could get those sort of ratios! Top Gear is a statged show and the BBC make no effort to try and convince you otherwise and people need to take it in the way it is meant. Theres lots worse going on in the world that people should be complaining about instead of wasting their lives worring about things they probably never even watched in the first place. Rant over ;)
  13. You need a go in a 430 mate.... ;) Why shouldnt you? - the bhp quoted is available at a defined point - therfore you are only going to hit it at those particular revs....
  14. Sounds like a couple of bugs in the new version then.... :(
  15. Dealer should be able to read the Code thrown up by your ECU (even though light is out - still retained in memory) and should also be able to suggest what caused it....
  16. Hi, Welcome to the Club.... Not sure about in the LS but in my GS its in the options to state "quickest" or "shortest" - check you have that set up correctly. Again - Not sure in the LS - In my GS I can set avg speed by road type - this affects the routing - If these speeds are not set at reasonable values then it can take you some strange ways too.....worth checking these out as a possibility.
  17. Think thats unlikely - 2100 rpm in 2nd - Not going to be doing anywhere near 55-60mph - which is where wheel balancing issues usually appear...
  18. For the majority of the revenue gathered it is a fixed price on volume and always has been (the fuel duty) Where the government do gain from hikes in fuel price is due to the increased VAT they collect.
  19. Glad to see you ok and as others have said....it is only a phone but doesnt half get your blood boiling. Hope your other issue gets resolved too
  20. Thats the trouble - If it were one answer then great - but can be a multitude of things - Wheel Balance, Geometry, Ball joints, Calipers, Warped discs, Track rods, suspension arms.....the list goes on and you can spend a fortune getting to the bottom of it replacing parts and getting your wheels balanced.
  21. wouldn't buy without history and unless car has been serviced at 1 dealer and you know which one then you will prob have issue tracing it's history. Very few Lexus dealers pay for the networked system so 1 dealer will not know any history about any work done at another Edit: at 98k due a new cambelt and with no history you will have to assume not done Check for dreaded vibrations at 65mph as can cost fortune sussing out what the prob is
  22. cheers all ... On my way to London in the morning for the weekend ..hope I remember it. ;-)
