  3. Slightly but related. I set up savings accounts for my 2 sons when they were born - and my eldest (7 yrs old) now has a reasonable amount saved up - Both my wife and I contribute to it each month and have set up a target of at least £1000 for each year old they are Intention is to keep going until they are ~21 or so. My question is - does the protection also apply to children/childrens accounts - I'm pretty sure it must do but its not something that gets mentioned.
  4. Also, I know its perhaps easier for these scum to look on the internet - but Ive thought about it before - and I openly drive around displaying my number plate to everyone and when my car is sitting on my drive. I was infact subjected to someone nicking my number plates off my previous car (on my drive at night) as they had stolen a car of the same type and colour. They had even gone to the trouble of fixing the stolen vehicles number plates back onto my car - I guess in the hope I wouldnt notice - but they had done that badly the front one fell off as I pulled away from my drive. They had obviously just driven around until they found a similar car.
  5. Got in the car this morning and the airbag light came on - stayed on all the way to work.... arghh!!!!
  6. hi and welcome to loc I had a 94 ls for 18 months and never had a single prob with it- but had been very well looked after - you'll love it ;-) Usual things when buying any car- but ls is a big heavy car so check suspension parts. There are quite a few LS owners on here though much better qualified than me to comment Good luck and let us know how you get on
  7. doesn't take much to cause a substantial vibration. May not be sticking that much to generate loads of heat. Plenty of places will check for free- so what to lose? Or I believe there are instructions on here somewhere on how to check yourself-
  8. I've always wondered why buy a 2 litre car and spend a consideral amount of cash on FI when you could just buy a 4 litre that already has it? I can understand a little (eg car model and poss general fuel economy) but any other reasons Don't want to offend anyone with my question - just always wondered why ? Is it purely for the buzz of modding / uniqueness?
  9. heard wrong IMO mate I'd be happy to prove that in a safe environement against a normally aspirated IS200 :D That's what I thought too (agrees with Wozza) thought s/c actually increases the faster you go due to way it works?
  10. just another possibilty- it's not a power saving issue is it? Some power profiles (or bios setting) can power down the usb port or networking if they think it's not being used Had the issue with a load of dell laptops at work- profile was set up by default to kill network cards if not plugged in Could be timing out?
  11. Theres a repair kit you can get - worth a try...
  12. Dave - Sounds like sticky calipers to me...especially as it comes and goes...
  13. Just out of interest - What would be discussed in this new section?
  14. Private joke at work and wondered if anyone could possibly photoshop the piccie below - I need it to look as if there is one of those large banners is across the building saying "Phase II Complete" I'm useless at that sort of thing and would look like a 3 year old had done it (or that paint / body shop in the US) :winky:
  15. concur with the above and it's where I bought my falkens from
  16. you can program a key- the instructions are on this forum somewhere The main thing is to ensure the key you already have is a master and not a valet key- without a master you can't program another key
  17. Isnt half scary when you click it back to Sport after driving it on Snow for a few days though :winky:
  18. I don't think there are any of us that are desperate mac haters, but "some" of us who may be a little too enthusiastic about apple products can irritate the others who fully evaluate a product before purchasing. If Apple made a car, I'm sure "some" of us would make a quick switch over and preach over and over about how the Apple car is the best car in the world for this that and the other. In actual fact it would probably be flawed in several ways - only run on fuel that is specifically made by Apple, be far more expensive to service, and be completely sealed up so the only people who can work on it are Apple guys............I would still stick with my Lexus though :P At the end of the day, the iPhone IS flawed, as is my N95, or the SE W950i I had before it, and the SE X1 to come. No device is 100% perfect, and no one expects them to be. I am certainly no apple hater, I like the iPhone but it has a few problems that stop me from buying one. However, it is the attitude of some Apple owners that really make me NOT want to own one, just so I don't need to be associated with them. No one except "certain" Apple owners totally believe that their product is the best thing ever and if there is something wrong with it then that's how it should be. I love my Lexus, but I know there are things that are wrong with it, and I will openly accept them instead of arguing that it's the most perfect car in the world.................. I don't think it's fair to close this, but perhaps we get back on to helping Gord finding the handset and deal combo that best suits his needs :) I can't wait for the google phone to come along and kick some Apple be-hind! :winky: P.S. @Tyger: I like a good argument, but your comment of "Don't be a Geoffers" is not really on mate, if there were more Geoffers' in the world it would be a better place :) Yes...Perhaps haters was incorrect word to use - and there are obviously all the people inbetween the 2 extremes..... I just dont like to see posts get a little personal or descend into a slanging match - What I actually meant is summed up pretty well by yourself and Geoffers...."some people will like, some wont" type of thing...... I regret ever mentioning the iPhone in the first place :winky:
  19. Those signs usually point to Brake Master Cylinder failure (assuming you mean by alarm you get an alarm sound).....I hope for your sake this isnt the case as these are not cheap Edit: Of course - It could just be the VSC etc kicking in because its required
  20. Or you could just drive the car as it is supposed to be driven - Just lifting off the accelerator pedal does exactly that - and your car runs how it should.
  21. Guys, This is turning into a farce post - and could continue on indefinately because there are Mac lovers and Mac haters. In the interests of keeping this forum dignified - Can I suggest we possibly close this argument? Its now not benefitting anyone.
