  1. Here you go: http://www.silverlakeautoparts.co.uk/break...ls.aspx?ID=3099 Hope that helps Gavin
  2. Claire, I'd say you would need to be prepared for a shock at the price of a new one from Lexus Remeber that the IS200/IS300/Altezza calipers are the same as the GS so I would look for one from a low mileage IS200 in a breakers yard which should be easy enough to find plus it wouldn't have received the same punishment on the manual IS200 as it would have on the auto GS300 which rely on the brakes much more. There was a post a while back with a breakers yard which had a 2003 low mileage IS200 Sport, I will try and dig it out for you...
  3. I thought one of the guys from Lextasy (Steve) was a member on here? I remember a thread where he was offering his personal help in sorting out any LOC members issues they had with orders etc. Whatever happened to that I had a similar experience when enquiring about a UGO roof spoiler. I was told very unpolitely that "we don't ship outside the US". Thank *** I managed to source one from ebay.com in the end so Lextasy, you can stick yours up ur :tsktsk:
  4. Guys, have Lexus not extended the warranty to cover the stereo on ALL IS200's? i.e. 1999 onwards? May be worth asking your dealer or contact Lexus GB?
  5. Apparantly its a real pig to remove the OEM Sport spolier. Even after removing the bolts its still stuck with some mighty strong adhesive. I was going to remove mine but decided to leave it as I think some other members attempted it and ended up having to replace the boot lid Someone mentioned about heating it up in an oven panel beaters use to soften the adhesive?
  6. The two speakers and tweeters in the front doors count as 4. Each of the rears are classed as 2 per side which is also 4, hence 4 up front and 4 in the rear. All UK IS200 SE and Sport models have the 8 speaker setup. The rears on the 8 speaker cars also have the "Lexus" logo on them whilst the 6 speaker cars don't. Euro IS200 Sports don't seem to have the 8 (maybe it was an option)
  7. As your car is a 2001 model you must have always had the stereo with the slot at the top as this was introduced in mid - late 2000? So you must have had the same stereo as your original one replaced under warranty? Like I said in a previous post I didn't think it was possible to interchange the stereo with the slot at the bottom and the one with the slot at the top as the connections where the looms plug in @ the back are differnent on each one. I looked into this for a mate once. I don't think the six speaker stereo will work in an SE/Sport as it must have an integrated amplifier (as opposed to the seperate amplifier in the SE/Sport) in order to power the speakers. As for physical appearance, both look the same whether you have 6 or 8 speakers. The only advantage of having the 6 speaker system is that its much easier to change to an aftermarket h/u as all you need is a adapter lead to convert the Lex OEM loom to ISO which then just plugs into your new h/u and you're up and running. On the 8 speaker cars you need to find some sort of adapter that takes the pre-amp outputs on your aftermarket h/u and convert them to feed into the Lexus OEM amp or else bypass the OEM amp altogether and route new cables to each speaker. Someone mentioned something about the OEM speakers having a strange impendence so they may not even work without the OEM amp in which case you would have to install new speakers too.
  8. Its not possible to replace the older stereo (slot @ bottom) with the newer one because the connections at the back are different.
  9. Brett, if the inverter does give up the ghost on these, is it possibe to use an aftermarket inverter? I've seen a few from the US which take 12v DC and convert it into 115v AC. However they seem a lot larger than the one supplied with the scuffs and have a cigarette lighter plug on them. I take it these are for powering tvs, radios etc.? Also, what sort of wattage would be required? In theory should they work with the scuffs? Secondly, it it possibe to replace the EL strip if it goes?
  10. As legendswraith has said, use protection Something like a piece of cardboard should be enough to protect the area you're working near
  11. Well the man said I didn't need to visit him and that he would provide me with the settings. So, armed with my settings where do I go? (as per my first post on this thread). I've had cars alignment checked before in places where they give you a before and after printout of lots of settings and I think camber was in there somewhere.
  12. You'll get there in the end ;) BTW, it looks like a great setup. Would like something like this in my car but I don't think I'd have the time or money! Not sure if you have it or not but does your in car PC have wireless capabilities? The thought of parking my car outside and downloading my fav MP3's, movies etc. from my home PC sounds good, not to mention surfing whilst on the move!
  13. let me know?...you dont need to come to me, its the set-up that matters. ← Cheers Tony. If you could drop me a PM with the settings that would be great. So I just take these to any garage that does alignment and tell them these are the exact settings I want? I take it that they just ignore the default ones for the IS200 on their machine?
  14. Yes, mods as in sig. Eibach springs, 18" OZ Hydra alloys and Vredestein Ultrac 225/40 18 all round. Drop me a PM! Cheers Tony Gavin P.S. I have relatives living in Bedmond which I presume isn't too far from you? T'was thinking that maybe it would be a good excuse to visit them and get the Lex sorted at the same time! Hell of a lot of :driving: though!
  15. Dr Bones, I would like to take my Lex in for a full geometry check but I'm a bit far away from you in N. Ireland :shutit: Don't suppose you could recommend anywhere over here that you know of? Cheers
  16. Annes, just concerned for you and your Lex mate! As for your joints, you really should invest in a small heat gun and some heat shrink tubing. If you can't stretch to the heat gun then even a cheapo cigarette lighter would do just to heat the tubing slightly until it shrinks. Soldering then using the heat shrink to insulate is by far the safest way for electrical joints. If you're connecting into wires in factory looms in the car and don't want to cut them you should just shave back a few mm of the sleeve, solder your new wire onto it and then carefully cover the joint with insulating tape. Personally I'm not a big fan of scotchlock connectors. They don't always "bite" into the wire enough to give a reliable connection. This is especially true when they are used with thinner wires. I had problems using them with my illuminated scuffs when they were working intermittently. Removed them and soldered the wires which solved my problem.
  17. Mate you need to be careful with all this Burning smells in cars aren't good. You don't want your Lex ending up like that Golf on another thread?
  18. Have you consideed the flush mount ones? I quite like the idea of these. Don't have any more info though...
  19. I know what you mean about them coming on the same plastic backing but maybe the IS has to be seperated (by cutting the plastic backing) from the 200 before being stuck on? I'm sure plenty of peeps here have changed to gold badges and could offer more advice? As for the different "I", I'm only see it now when you mention it, strange! I've just looked on my car and the I looks the same as the rest Oh and BTW the new grill looks good :winky: Is this the start of the mods then?
  20. LOL, I don't think they would be too concerned about your alloys when you didn't buy the tyres from them! Just get the tyres on and get rid of you ASAP would probably be their theory!
  21. How do you guys get these fitted/balanced?? I know I wouldn't have the neck go into a local tyre fitter (as there are a few around here who would tell you where to go in no uncertain terms) who incidently sells tyres as well to ask him to fit ones which I didn't buy from him And even if he did fit them in the end, wouldn't he rub in the charges?
  22. They look ok to me. I'd imagine they are put on in a certain location?
  23. Welcome mate Whereabouts in Ireland are you mate? Up north myself! Is that 7k STG or Euro?
