  1. I had this problem on a Rover 400 once. Turned out it was leaking through the bulkhead on the passengers side where the hinges for the bonnet were bolted on and it other areas where Rover forgot to seal the bulkhead properly Strange thing is it never wetted the front of the car, only the rear passenger footwell
  2. My IS200 has developed a very annoying squeaking type noise (almost like air gushing/escaping) when I depress the clutch pedal. It is deffo coming from outside the car because I can hear it slightly when driving with the windows closed but when I open the drivers window I can hear it much louder. I'm assuming there is no clutch cable in the IS as its hydraulic? I don't drive the car much, only at weekends so maybe its something to do with lack of driving? Anyone have any ideas whats up with it? Thanks Gavin
  3. Think it depends on if the car is early or late 2001. DVD based Sat Nav was introduced in late 2001 on the IS in which case the GS disc should work?
  4. From looking around on the web you're probably right. Apparantly this is a common fault of Rover aircon systems if they are not used often enough. I wonder would he get away with a regas?
  5. A friend at work has bought a 97 P reg Rover 620 SDi and the air con doesn't appear to be working in that it doesn't blow ice cold air like it should. When the A/C button is pressed the green light illuminates but thats about it. There doesn't seem to be any sound of the compressor kicking in or the engine revs don't fluctuate like they would on another car when the A/C kicks in. I don't have any experience of Rover cars so I thought someone on here may have had one in the past and know whats wrong with it? Thanks Gavin
  6. Just wondering if anyone knows a rough price for a set of standard rear discs for the IS200 (supply only, no fitting) from Lexus? Cheers Gavin
  7. -30mm on Eibach's but I have noticed a reasonable suffer of ride quality :(
  8. Glad to be of help ;) As for the fixing, the TTE badge just comes itself with a sticky backing (after removing the tape). I'm not sure what the Sport badge on the mesh grill is like or how you would fit the TTE badge? P.S. I was over visting my cousins in Bedmond over the weekend and they took me out and about where they live, think I was in St. Albans! Didn't see yours or any IS200's though but I did see a few on the M25 from London. Still quite rare in the mainland from what I can see? I didn't have mine, had a rented Laugna dCi as I flew over
  9. I currently have a HP iPAQ 2210 and TomTom Navigator 3 Software and I now need a GPS receiver to use it for Sat Nav. The obvious choice would be a TomTom receiver but I'm not keen on the wired version as I don't want unnecessary cables and though the silver Bluetooth one looks cool I'm put off by the fact it has to be charged at least once a day :( However, having looked on good old ebay I see that there are a few types of Compact Flash and SD GPS receivers compatible with my iPAQ and TomTom 3. My question for anyone out there who is clued up on GPS receivers is are there any difference in terms of performance of these GPS receivers compared to say the TomTom ones as they seem to be a lot smaller? Some of them have an external antenna to so I wonder does this help much? I don't want to fork out for one if it isn't as good as the others and I would probably settle for a TomTom Bluetooth but I would prefer one of the CF/SD as they are neat and don't require charging as they are powered by the iPAQ. Any help/advice much appreciated.
  10. Part No: PZ439-10671-4P Can't remember how much it cost, £5 maybe Hope that helps
  11. Mate I have the Part No. for the TTE badge at home, I will post it later. I got mine from a Toyota dealer as its the same badge that is used on all TTE bodykits/bumpers for Toyota's.
  12. lexi1 I have a spare 'kit' around somewhere which basically comprises of a plug for the end of the pipe, a blanking plate for the dash for when you remove the headlight washer switch and I'm 99% sure there is a third item but I cannot remember what it is If you're interested you can have it for nothing. Gavin
  13. Hi mate I done this recently with a Clio dCi for the g/f. If its a Cat C which is classed as written off then the V5 will have been returned to the DVLA and you need to get a new one. In order to do this and get the car back on the road you need to repair it and then apply to the VI (Vehicle Inspectorate) for a VIC (Vehicle Identity Check). This invloves the VI inspecting the car after it has been repaired to ensure the VIN details hasn't been tampered with (e.g. in case someone decides to steal an identical car and tries to transfer the identity of it to the written off car, etc). It is NOT a check to ensure the car has been properly repaired and the car will still have to go through a seperate normal MOT if its over 3 years old. If it passes the VIC you can then apply to the DVLA for a new V5. I'm assuming the whole procedure is the same in the mainland as it is in Northen Ireland. More info can be found here: http://www.car-crime.com/dvla_info.htm Hope that helps, Gavin
  14. What ever happened to the Sat Nav/DVD system with motorised screen that Steve was going to be offering?? I take it has been shelved?
  15. I think anything up to 30 or 35mm is OK with the standard shocks, anything more than that and you may run into trouble
  16. Why is that Mat? Is this engine slightly de-tuned for the IS200 in UK/Europe?
  17. Aido, I may be talking crap here (I'm sure someone will correct me if I am :P ) in the case of the IS200 but I had a problem with spongy brakes on my previous car (Impreza) after upgrading my brake lines to Goodridge, fitting uprated Pagid grooved discs and pads all round and replacing the fluid with DOT 5.1 After the upgrade the brakes were very spongy and I had them bled twice but it made no difference. Then someone told me that it was due to trapped air in the ABS system and to cure it you need to give the ABS a good workout It was winter at that particular stage and the first time there was a little snow I gave the ABS a good testing and had the brakes bled again. I have to say that it did work and my brakes felt like they should after forking out £££ on upgrading them.
  18. Would agree with using Meguiars, works well :)
  19. Check if your rear speakers has the Lexus logo on them or not. Lexus Logo = 8 speakers No Lexus Logo = 6 speakers 8 speaker cars have a seperate stand alone amp (sliver box behind glove box). 6 speaker cars don't have the seperate amp, the amp is built in to the headunit, hence the difference in headunits for 6 and 8 speaker systems. Hope that helps Gavin
  20. fluff, I've had this done loads of times on previous cars and it was fine. It lasted until the tyre wore out. I can't see how it could be dangerous as the size of the puncture hole is tiny in the first place if it was caused by a screw, nail etc. I think the worst that could happen is a slow puncture
  21. This can be fixed without even removing the type from the rim. Any place that sells tyres should be able to it. They will simply remove the screw and then push in a piece of something black which resembles liquorice. This then seals the hole.
  22. I know in the Republic of Ireland the base model IS200 is called the IS200 Chenille. Then there is the IS200 Executive and Sport. As Steve has pointed out it is the type of fabric used in the seats of the IS200 S in the UK.
  23. Would be interested in a set with Lexus on them too ;) Keep us posted
