  1. Thanks Geoffers, you can probably tell I've not read my instruction book fully yet. Would you be able to reprogram my sat nav to replace the voice command "SUSPEND GUIDANCE" with "SHUT IT YOU TART"? Cheers, Mincey
  2. Is there a way to stop the woman living in my dashboard telling me where to go via a simple key press? Many a time I've wanted to press a "Shut Up" button when there's been something interesting on the news or someone's calling me. On my IS200 I would have had to find the "Suspend Guidance" button, but I'm blowed if I can find the same on my IS250's. Should I spend the weekend reading the manual or petition Lexus for a "STFU" button!
  3. Way back in '99 I saw a photo of an IS200 in the Sunday Times Motoring Section. I knew I had to have one. The bummer was waiting until September '99 so I could have the personalised plate I wanted. I was I think the third person in Peterborough to have an IS. I could have been the second had I overtaken the delivery driver from Marshalls of Cambridge (God rest their souls... not. Pour me a drink and I'll tell you my Marshalls of Cambridge Lexus "Experience") on the way home.
  4. A chap I work with went to a V70 diesel (or is it a V50? It's an estate) after years of running diesel A4s. He's very disappointed with the mpg he's getting and regrets changing marques. When I told him I got an indicated 38mpg on a long run, he said he wasn't getting much more than that. He regularly saw 50+ mpg in his Audis.
  5. Probably of no use to you, but my IS200 had a heating element running along the bottom of the screen which defrosted the part which the wipers sat on. This came on with the rear window heater. My IS250 has the same, but it's controlled by a switch. It's a bit annoying remembering to switch the wipers off Auto when it's frosty, otherwise they get defrosted.... by brute force!
  6. You have my sympathy. I went out this morning to find a boot print in the dirt on my boot which I wasn't too happy about.
  7. If it's any consolation, I can't get my Nokia to upload my address book either. I'm sure someone on here said that Sony Ericksons were more likely to be Lexus friendly??
  8. the RVS treatment sounds like a complete load of balls.... i wouldnt waste your time. if it is so great and rebuilds worn surfaces then everyone would be using it. the magnets to impove fuel efficiency are from the same group of "wonder products" How about adding some Snake Oil to the gearbox? [Runs away quickly....]
  9. I can believe that. The second in command at my local tyre emporium has had one from new and he says it's a heap of junk. One of my clients has one too and its forever going back to the dealer for this and that. It also has a thirst for oil.
  10. Deja Vu! I remember a similar recall on the IS200 in about '99/'00.
  11. Nestle did indeed take over Rowntrees.
  12. Thanks! You know, I can't remember who made it was it Rowntrees ? It must have been a biggy. Yep - Rowntrees.
  13. I'm nearly 100% sure it was something like "'cos a man's gotta chew what a man's gotta chew"
  14. do you eat ringed dohnuts and fall asleep on the job alot by any chance? ;) :D That's exactly what I was thinking.....
  15. Geoffers, that was an excellent post - there's no need to apologise for anything.
  16. I used to have mine set on 0 all the time (might have been 1 - whatever the lowest number was). I'm assuming you've got the standard IS lights though and no trick upgrades!
  17. Seconded. The main thing is that you're ok. I know it must hurt to have had your car damaged, but it's easier to fix a car than you! It would be poetic justice if those toerags tried it with someone of the calibre of Kenneth Noye next time.....
  18. My claim to fame is that my late Uncle was on the development team for Texan bars and I was the first person in Peterborough to eat one!
  19. I decided to go for it in the end. It wasn't much more expensive than the individual services added together and although I could have put the money away in an account and earned some interest on it, it's something less to worry about this way. Many thanks for everybody's thoughts on this one.
  20. I hope someone comes up with a two way adaptor so that the exhaust gases come out of both "pipes" otherwise it's going to look a little bit Barry on cold mornings.
