  1. I do 80 miles (2 hours a day) and it annoys the :tsktsk: out of me, especially when every loan car I have ever driven has gear changes as sweet as a nut, including the 53 reg sportscross I have today. fingers crossed for clunk free gear changes.
  2. Car dropped off today for it's new gearbox. Hopefully back with me in a couple of days clonk free. :D
  3. Paul 25 (26 in 1 week 1 day :winky: ) Work in..................you guessed it..................IT, for a small company based in Southport. Live in Ellesmere Port (or Chester if you listen to the local Lexus dealership ) Been with the Girlfriend Vicky for a year. Had the IS for 6 months, no real plans for mods, as I generally only keep cars for 9-12 months. Football would have to be my biggest hobby (playing & watching) :D
  4. Just below the thick line above the 9 about 10 minutes to on a clock face
  5. Girlfriend has recently bought a 98 Citroen Saxo SX - 1.1L, electric windows, power steering, sunroof. A tidy little car. The insurance isn't too bad, she is 19 with a provisional licence. Think its group 3 or 4. Paul
  6. 1990 Ford Fiesta 1.1 Popular Plus in Red. Served me well for my three years of University. Just a good job I had my wit and repartee to fall back on :winky:
  7. All the best :zee: Have a great one Paul
  8. Should be a walk in the park this year by comparison, last year each icy 1 hour journey to work was an experience to say the least, but then I did have 321 ponies under the bonnet and no traction control !!! (M3). Paul
  9. Lotus Esprit - don't see many on the road (could be a reason for that ?!) I've always liked the look of them.........just a thought. Having driven neither a Skyline or GS I couldn't really comment on the merits of the two. Just as a matter of personal taste from looks, then my choice would be a Skyline. Paul
  10. Should be getting my first replacement gearbox within the next few weeks. Problems with severe clunking when engaging first and changing from first to second. Let you know more soon. Paul
  11. Just a quick update. Ended up getting my car serviced at Lexus Chester. I was booked in there on Thursday to get my gearbox and stereo replaced. I had already spoken to the service manager about a 20K service previous, and had decided the sum of £290 that he had quoted was not worth considering when Lexus Stockport had quoted me £198. Dropped the car off Thursday to be told by Mick Mills (Service Manager & all round nice guy) that he would do the 20K service that day and do it for less than Stockport. :D Picked my car up this morning (busy yesterday) £176 all in Not that is what I call good customer service. A big pat on the back for Lexus Chester and expecially Mick Mills. Car feels a dream after the service aswell :D (so much for a quick update) Paul
  12. Sorry - Nothing to update yet. ;) The 'Gearbox Guy' was pulling a sicky in this fine English weather. So just had to settle for my new stereo and a very well priced service. Hopefully get booked in sometime next week, let you know more as soon as I do. Paul
  13. Cements my reason for staying away from the ball and chain.
  14. The replacement gearbox I am getting on Thursday, is as far as I know, a reconditioned one. The Service Manager at Chester told me that they get the parts shipped to them and then build the gearbox themselves. I made the decision to have mine replaced after driving a 52reg loan IS200, while getting my wheels replaced, the gear change on this was as sweet as a nut. Fingers crossed for Thursday, as the gear change is really starting to :tsktsk: me off. Paul
  15. Getting my gear box changed on Thursday. Will let you know how I get on. Was offered a replacement without any fuss from Chester Lexus.
  16. Couldn't have put it better my self - how tactile you are......... :D
  17. Too :tsktsk: bad I was working instead of doing what I should be doing (reading the forums) oh well maybe next time.
  18. Cheers guys - will have to check the garage and see if I have any magnatec left.
  19. Going with Lexus Stockport - £198 all in for a 20K service. Asked about the price difference, something to do with not having Lexus systems installed yet !?? so they do not have their prices governed by Lexus. Anyways £15 in fuel (Stockport and back) gives an £85 saving compared with my nearest dealer :) Lovely girl on reception as well - 5ft 3" size 6 (dont ask !!) :D Paul
