  1. I was on the M56 in Manchester on my way back to Stoke this evening (Sun) at around 20:50 and was passed by a silver IS200 (not 100% sure, could've been a 300). Was it one of you lot? Just wondering because whoever it was very nearly hit the central reservation because they were busy staring at my Lexus, lol! Well whoever it was, I apologise for making my car nice an shiny today and attracting your attention
  2. Got it sorted. The brake calliper (not just the piston sliders) had seized completely by the time I got it to my mate's garage. He freed up the calliper as much as possible but did warn me that it might seize again at a later date. A new brake disk was needed, which of course means 2 and new pads on both sides. Cost me £190 in total but the car drives like a dream once again B)
  3. If serviced regularly, absolutely. There was a mileage thread a while back.... errr.... here you go : Mileage Thread Not QUITE up-to-date I guess but it'll give you some idea and if you read through, you'll see a post from myself about a Lexus with FAR more than 200k on it! :winky:
  4. Yeah, that's what worried me but is it because they hike up the cost of P&P instead of the product price? Put together, it works out at £45 which is similar to what Einstein and some others paid if I remember rightly. They probably don't even come from the US! lol
  5. Sod it, couldn't find the seller 'dianeshop' and couldn't see any kits on HIDS4U that were 4300k so I went ahead and ordered the ones I'd seen. Wish me luck
  6. Any 4300k sets that any of you can recommend? If not then I'll try these but I'd rather not waste time and money if you know of good quality set, even if they cost a bit more (though I can't pay £150!)
  7. Ahh crap, I'm at work now and only have my phone to access the net on. If you search for Lexus Is200 in the Xenon sub-section, there's loads the same. Red box, Jap writing all round, lol (£22.99 + lots of p&p)
  8. Sorry to post yet another thread about HiD conversions but I've read through several on here before actually searching for kits and I still have questions. I'm hopeless, I know....lol So anyway. Question 1 : Has anyone tried these and are they good? HiD Kit on ebay Question 2 : Would there be any problems with alignment if I bought kits from the US or is that controlled by the headlamp itself, rather than the bulb? Before anyone suggests alternative kits (feel free to do so) please note that I've decided on 4300k ones. (HB4 9006)
  9. Ditto :eerrrmm: Rest of the car looks nice though.
  10. I was one of those 60 and as it happens, I'm having the same trouble with my brakes but I've left it with a mechanic friend so as the only answer I could give you would have been 'dunno', I figured I'd skip this one :P
  11. Just got home from work (25 miles of dual carriageway from my house) and felt the drivers side wheel, fine. Felt the passenger side, red hot! Pretty safe bet it's the caliper then I guess. Got a friend of a friend sorting it out on Thursday for me. Not being lazy, he's cheap and I'm busy, lol.
  12. I couldn't get the Alfa thread to load up.... probably an electrical fault
  13. lol, yeah, you have to be pretty quick with this lot around! Thanks all. Your help is appreciated once again. Come to think of it, I HAVE noticed something smells a bit 'warm' when I pull up at work sometimes, would make sense in that case. I'll let you know how I get on with it :winky:
  14. Would the solution to that involve a large hammer?
  15. Because of the severity of the vibration, the whole car shakes a bit but mainly it's through the stearing wheel.
  16. I've noticed recently that my IS200 'judders' when I'm braking. AS almost all of my driving is on dual carriageway and motorway and I tend to slow down from about 90mph very quickly at roundabouts, someone suggested that I might have warped my brake disks. Over the last week, however, the car has started to vibrate quite severely when driving at anything between 50 and 70mph. This made me think that perhaps I'd thrown a weight or 2 off my wheels so I popped into Kwik Fit to get all 4 tyres re-balanced and to make sure the tracking was ok. Still no better :( Any ideas?
  17. Yeah, I know where you mean. I've seen some stiff foam in packaging at work, might 'borrow' a bit
  18. Did you solve this 'problem' in the end? I've just fitted a strut (finally) and I'm pretty chuffed with it given that I am generally pretty useless at such things but it is still a LITTLE bit violent when the lid opens fully. I've let quite a lot of gas out of the strut and wouldn't want to risk letting any more out. I had a go at rotating the shaft but this didn't seem to change the speed at which it opens all that much. Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy with the opening speed now and I'm not worried about damage to the car, I just want to 'dampen' the bounce at the end of the action. What did you use in the end?
  19. Sorry to dig up an old thread but it seemed like a good place to post. A lad I know went to look at an IS200 at the weekend. He got there and it looked great, excellent condition inside and out. It was a 99 with FSH and a long MOT. He took it for a spin and it was as smooth as you would expect from a brand new model with no knocking or anything. With an asking price of £1500 he thought he'd found a real gem and was getting set to part with his money. That's when he checked the mileage.... 370,000 !!! :o He couldn't bring himself to fork out for such a high mileage car but there you have it, a testament to Lexus' engineering! (btw, mine is 99[V] and on 82,500)
