  1. i know i guess it's just having such a grat name isn't it dunno wheres adlington? hytek autogas in lancashire, near preston, 260 miles away, cost me twice as much to get up as back :)
  2. I haven’t been able to get it done yet. Some a**e drove into the back of me in Sept and the insurance repairers made a mess of the repair. I was in a catch 22. Cannot get it converted because there is a chance that the insurance company might write the car off as uneconomic to repair a second time. When its repaired again and everything is finished I wont hesitate to convert it. Ive worked out that if LPG does 15% less MPG than petrol, ill get my money back in 9 months or so. I do about 20k a year. Ill be going for the tank in the wheel well. I think it was aimed at me I went for a tank in the wheel well in the end, you even have enough space behind it to store a can of tyre weld and some lovely cool water bottles (expanding gas as the tank empties gets colder so always cold drinks :) ) I'm getting around 210miles to £30 but thats because i am using the car for pizza delivery around town if i go on the motorway it shoots up to about 300-350miles a tank, which is 70 litres not 90. Unfortuneatly the companies price have gone up by £100 but i can still get people £50 off just let me know your having the conversion done :) I've now done 2k and it's going fine :)
  3. what do people think of spacers? i've been offered a set by thecimpoanyto make my wheels fit.
  4. is ti one cambelt for both banks or 2 belts and do you get one belt or 2 when you order :)
  5. well the reason i say the brakes are too big rather then wheels too small is old wheels are 16" so smaller then current wheels and the wheels fit the archs etc just don't clear the brake caliper, had this with as mondeo and sierra i've owned but they both had brake upgrades (mondeo 2.0 discs/calipers to V6 discs, sierra xr4x4 2.9 discs/calpiers to scorpio cosworth discs/calipers).
  6. after sortiung out tyres (i went for 225/55/17 in the end) Turns out the wheels which fit my lexus LS um don't cause the front brakes are too large....awaiting a response atm from the supplier.
  7. Cat D doesn't get put on the logbook that Cat C wich need an SVA and re-registering before beign back ont he road. I boguth a Cat D volvo estate deisel once, i put a new number plate on the front bought a tyre and it flew through it's MOT (had a front endaccident), boughta new bumper for £50 then sold it on ebay 8 months later for an extra £600 ove what i'd paid :)
  8. I got mine off ebay £800, 210k none of those faults except the heated seats (they don\'t work on many to be fair). good luck on findign another, mk3\'s are good mk4\'s are better but twice as much think there was one on autotrader for £1750 but it had 300k recently. Funny you say that a friend of mine just spent £4300 on a 54 reg Poxhall Signum diesel that had an engine management light on when we went to see it, he took me to give him advice which natrually consisted of \there\'s thousands of them that aren\'t broken" and "how much is it going to cost to find out the actual fault and fix it?" needless to say 3 months later it's fixed (supposedly) and cost him an extra £700 odd pound, I\'m still wondering why he took me along...
  9. your cars goign to be worth nothign with a broken engine, so let someoen come round and have a look, mines on 215k and still runs like new so i'd be surprised oif the engine has failed at 132k unless theres no oil/water. I assume you've checked it's not the power steering?
  10. Had it on all this week, it's very nice onty filling up £35 a time instead of £70! done 500 miles no problems what so ever. If anyone else wants to use Hytek Autogas give me a shout and i can get you £50 off :) I'll put some pics of the install up when i get around to taking them (did an oil change, headlight upgrade and put some alloys on today as well as an oil change on my wifes Seat Cordoba, was nice to see sensible sump plug and filter location on the Lexus, the Seat on the other hand has a litterial filter change i have to open up part of the engine and get covered in oil taking out the paper filter and gromit then putting in new one, very messy if anyone has any tips on making it cleaner i'm all ears :)). £999 for 4 cylinder, £1099 6 cylinder and £1199 8 cylinder, minus the £50 discount :)
  11. you knock the gearsticlk one notch forward, why do you need to look? i knid of understand if mk1/2 with the straight gear gate but still just a knock forwards. the brake servo still has vacum in it unless you've not had the engine running for a while. On almost every sliproad i've used if traffic is coming towards you it usually means it'd be about to join a dual-carriageway/motorway in the wrong direction, i assume you must be talkign about those ones where they couldn't afford to put in roundabouts and so have giveway lines everywhere and bad traffic flow. I guess you've just had the engine rebuilt if you know theres no gunk anywhere, it doesn't have to stoip something working to be there. Assumption makes an (different word for donkey) out of U and ME, in this case entirely me as i keep forgetting not everyone is 27 and buitl like an out house and i shouldn't assume they can turn a non-pas steering wheel or a brake pedal with no servo assistence. I'm very sorry.
  12. that should say 214k, even if the oils changed often and is clean you'll still get sticky crap build up in the engine. especially cars with EGR's like almost everything post-92 (and what a PITA the EGR system is and causes). as the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy says......DON'T PANIC. you still have brakes even if they don't seem so good there should stlil be at least some vacum in your inlet manifold and you still hjave steering it's just not power assisted, I was once driving a 10 tonne Volvo B10B Bus when the engine failed mid-roundabout, loseing my powersteering, i merely hauled on the steering wheel to get the bus around the roundabout, if i can get 10 tonnes of bus round a roundabout with no powersteering i'm not worrying about the lexus. Strange siproad if omeones coming towards you and the guy behind is too close anyway if you are worried about them. plus you can just bang it into neutral and restart the engine without havign o turn it off first like in a lot of cars. That all being said it's probably the fact that i worked for First bus (Worst bus...) for 4 1/2 years 13 days a fortnight 70-80 hour weeks that i'm kind of prepared for most things to fail on vehicles i drive.... Not the wheel nuts coming off but some berk putting the wrong oil in the Diff and casuing it to snap the driveshaft coupling mid-roundabout, the brakes on the wheel caught fire shortly after this.
  13. i think it's just a sticky valve somewhere as i've said, did they do it new? mines gt24k on the clock so i expctthigns like thisto hppenoccasionally, that may miles gunk builds up.
  14. they might wear fast but they'll give plenty of grip, not my first choice on a lexus TBH, once wore out a set of fronts on a seat cordoba in a staggering 2 weeks from brand new down to the cords....and it wasn't a cupra R it was a TDi a whole 90bhp...
  15. what's changed int he mk3 engine from the mk2 to make it an interference engine? is it the reason for the extra 10bhp?
  16. I'm 27 got my hair Got Wife and kid, no caravan yet but am planning on getting one and a tow bar next year after i've fitted an LPG kit :) I was 26 when i got the lexus, before that had a GTO Twin Turbo which i sold when we decided to start a family to get a volvo 850 estate, which i got bored of then decided to get a V8 and LPG it, had it over a year getting LPG'd next week oh and i'm overweight so 1 out of 3 ain't bad :)
  17. another question, what about 245/50/17 on the rear and 225/55/17 on the front? rolling radius difference of 0.37%, would this mess up the ABS? thanks
  18. open the car, open the window, open bonnet take wire off battery wait 3 mins with key set to off then put wire back on with key in ignition set to just before starter motor kicks in, if thats not quiet right try disconnetingbattery when key is set to just before immmobliser. If you don't mind me asking why did you change your ECU?
  19. I'm going for these guys, it's another £300 but it's a multipoint system which are considered to be more reliable and better at getting the fuel into the right cylinder at the right concentration, also comes with a 90 litre tank. Getting it fitted monday, i'll let you know how it goes.
  20. If you time it 0-60 it should give you some indication if you need to replace your plugs dizzy caps & rotors, the correct grade oil would 100% help. Top gear found 40 bhp on that v6 reno magentis with a good service I believe. it was 90bhp i think it was down to the broken inlet manifold, your mk3 propbably makes 255-260bhp, modern cars don't lose much unless they have somethign broken.
  21. whats involved in fitting supra alloys? what is the offset and PCD for lexus alloys (well LS400 ones)? my mk3 alloys are pretty scabby but there lots of supra alloys on ebay. and if you upgrade from 16" to 17" would i be right in sayign that you go from 225/60/16 to 245/50/17? thanks
  22. i know a good mechanic but he's about 5-600 miles away from you sorry :(
  23. for something with so much data behind it that all the coimpanies ahve they should eb all the same price, mind you if thast where the case i would be amazed if it wasn't like the electronics companies and tyhere all one very expensive price...
  24. is he north hampshire or south? maybe cheaper for me to just drop it of then post. thanks
  25. Mine conks out on tesco RON99 Vpower and super unleaded nto tried BP's ultimately very expensive compared to anything else yet....and not planning too, it's done it less since i put a new airfilter on it, goign to do oil change soona dn then i'll clean out throttlebody and ICV.
