Well thank you guys for all that info I think I will use both suggestions on how to clean the rust off, I do have a dremel so it should make things easier. There is a paint supplier in St Helens not far from where I live so I will give them a call, the paint code for my car is 6P3---British Green, I have used them before and they are good. Cheers

Every time I open the drivers door this happens, I know it can be glued but which glue is best? The next is a small rust bubble is forming on the n/s rear door frame, do I have to remove all of the rubber and chrome to repair it or is there a more simple way?

Jonathan:if you are 1/2 mile from Miles I might have passed your house on my way to him ,I found out that where he is was part of the Foden/E.R.F. factory that I used to deliver L.P.G. cylinders to many years ago whenI worked for Calor Gas, as they say it it a smaill world (but I wouldn't like to paint it with a 2" paint brush)

Jonathan: I went down to see Miles today-he found a couple of points that will need replacing,which Lexus Chester missed, when he has the parts he will phone me for a time to go down and have them fitted,he also told me someone from Croyden is going up to have the starter motor sorted out as his local Lexus won't touch his car because it has L.P.G. seems to know what he is doing.

I have got a reply from him, his answer is when he bought the car the badge and grill light were on it so he is leaving them on

I have sent him a MSG about the badge,and the light in the grill,will await his answer.I hope it is never sold because of what he has done.

Are you sure it wes the key,I had this problem and the culprit was me I had left the wheels on a full left lock the answer was in my case to turn the steering wheel just a slight bit more to the left and everything worked.

Do you lnow that these mirrors have two jobs 1 they heat up for defrosting. 2 change colour when headlights hit the center mirror from a car behind you,they are expensive because of that,one of mine was£105 from Lexus Dealer--mine is a 97 and is not convex.

I only went to have a look to see what was on offer, the thing is how long has the towbar been on it, and from what I could see no cooler for the gearbox.

The £104 is B4 the vat so you got a good deal.

Well boys:today was the day,i went down to see the car--first there is no MOT check at all,because there is no service history at all,the previous owner didn't hand it over-maybe he didn't have one,--the reason you cant see the wheels in the picks is because all 4 ned a refurb job as they have all met with the kirb at some time--N/S mirror glass needs replacing as it changing colour it looks like the photocromic system has gone--in the boot the jack is missing and the boot is filthy--the torch in the tool box is US it won't work and the reason is the battery has started to show signs of leaking I couldn't get it to open-----Next the 2 bonnet struts are KAPUT they dont hold it up at all--the center arm rest cover needs replacing as the leather looks like someone has had a go at it with a steel brush-- the number plate holders need sorting out,the paint is coming off around the edges--the general condition of the paint needs some work doing on the car.Now the good bits- the radio,satnav,A/C,wipers,washers,seat adjustment,mirrors,sunroof,steering wheel adjustment,and the memory for them all work. The reason when you look at the rear of the car you cant see the full view of it is the towbar would show. So chaps there you have it.it's make your mind up time.

The labour cost looks very low unless it took about 20 mins,my lexus dealer charges £104. per hour so that is a goooood cprice.

Thanks Chaps: I finally found a way to sort it out,after taking tha mirrors off,you can remove the platic guard by undoing the clips I gave them a sanding with 1500W&D a coat of grey primer 2 coats of black gloss paint and a coat of clear lacquer now they look brand new. Cheers

Iiam: I always press the brake pedal down before I put it into Drive and this stops the thud,give it a try.

The one from south wales has been reduced in price by about £500.

I need to remove the glass from the door mirror,I have got the mirror out of the pod but i don't know how to remove the wires on the back of it, the reason is the black plastic protection trim is looking Naff and needs sorting out.Maybe a new one or a gloss paint job. Can anyone help Please. :D
