  1. yes, if it's not been changed within the last 50k miles i would say YES they do fail, it's the rusty unions that cause ingress of water into the gearbox eventually and cause catastrophic gearbox failure Malc
  2. seriously, the folder full of receipts and the timing belt etc changed recently and YOU making sure the radiator has been changed and zero coolant / gearbox issue ever AND the air suspension in fine fettle then this sounds a good purchase ( on the face of it ) the leggy miles shouldn't ever be a problem with good servicing Malc
  3. wow, if the air struts are good and the gearbox / radiator issue never appearing then it sounds a brilliant purchase, especially with a folder full of recipes to make from the contents of the fridge go4it Malc
  4. with a mini clubman estate being a darned sight larger ( it seems to me when next to one at the lights etc ) than my Ls400 I might just try a trip around Cornwall next spring, tucking my car around and along those country lanes built for 1930's motoring Malc
  5. these really are lumps of thick steel and never likely to corrode until about 150 years young methinks,in normal operation when MOT Testers say corrosion it's often just a figment of imagination with a light brown wash thereupon Malc
  6. my 2006 V6 3.6ltr Honda Legend is just about bullet proof too BUT oh my, the toys and electronic gadgetry do my head in tbh ... and I can't get a comfy driving stance either for more than 15 mins the dear old barge, sorry my Mk3 Ls400 is a joy to drive wherever and whenever ................ and now almost 226k miles AND I could easily drive her all day long There's no other car i would think to just jump in after checking the engine oil and screennwash bottle and drive across Europe ..... if I'm allowed to that is with all this Brexit stuff going on Malc
  7. try asking the guys on here, quote the brands for them all I do know is that my experience with BluePrint left a lot to be desired AND that UCA was £250 , the same price as the Amayama Toyota parts delivered to the UK, being about 50% of the UK supplied same Toyota parts Pity Amayama don't have any of yours left 😑 Malc
  8. that's a shame coz for me the Blueprint UCA I used the once only lasted 43k miles before needing to be replaced itself Try Rockauto maybe ? Malc
  9. don't stress over this, I think it was said jokingly anyway, we KNOW they are old barges and for me, it's a simple term of loving endearment Malc hope he gets what he wishes for
  10. are you going to get her laser re-aligned to make sure everything really is just spot-on ? Malc
  11. I too wonder if there will ever be a simple answer ...... the costs of running the superb Ls400 are absolutely tiny compared to most other cars on this planet I very nearly the other day bought another one exactly the same as mine from Bolton for £950 but with only 124k miles and 3 months younger BUT a garage sale for a client BUT he's had it for 16 years and it looks as if the cambelt's never been changed and servicing was probably suspect too AND the owner wouldn't let me phone / talk with him to chat about it NOT the garage I would add, they sell ( expensive ) Lexus too from Main Dealers and were doing this owner a favour maybe having just sold him a replacement car, probably never to get serviced etc either So for now, my simple old slightly worn 235k mile Mk3 will suffice Malc
  12. back in September 22nd i mentioned on here a G plate December 1990 Mk1 for sale on ebay I think it was @£400 with an MOT that would have suited him no doubt Malc
  13. this post seems to have attracted an incredible number of views in it's 3 weeks ! Malc
  14. " In so far as the 1893 Act applied (immediately before the operation of the repeals made by this Act) to contracts made before 1 January 1894 (when the 1893 Act came into operation), the 1893 Act shall continue so to apply notwithstanding this Act. " I tried all of that and got a little confused it's usually so much more pleasant to ask you guys simple Qs and get relevant comprehendable answers ( most of the time that is ) Malc
  15. I think the stores plan is to re-word everything in Japanese too 😂 Malc
  16. Thank you Phil, that's quite clear then Remember a few years back i was touring Italy for a month and I regularly refilled with the only seemingly available petrol, E10 and thankfully my car was ok BUT I shall heed this for the future to only use E5 Malc
  17. so are we to think that our older Lexus cars are not suitable for E10 but that E5 is ok ? Malc
  18. Filling up today I noticed emblazoned at the pump that it's now called E5 ( the diesel is D7 ? ) should we be wary ? Malc
  19. Charles, you look good with long blond curly hair ...........☺️ Malc
  20. check that out specifically, some of the Blue\print stuff is fine the UCAs from Blue\Print for my Mk3 cost about £250 each The OEM Toyota / Lexus original parts from Amayama cost almost exactly the same to include carriage, Customs Duty and VAT and Handling fees this end, about £250 each and I know the BluePrint UCA lasted about 25% of the OEM part as I had to replace that " new " BluePrint UCA at 43k miles, it had worn out Malc
  21. BUT NOT for UCAs, believe me, they prematurely fail compared to OEM Malc
