  1. screen is not bonded correctly. Needs to be removed and refitted.
  2. 2 button because it doesn't have a remote boot release. The master key should be black and the valet key is grey. That's how it is on the series I. Series II may be different with a power tail lift.
  3. You should complain then to Lexus GB or your dealer. They may give you a free upgrade. Can you use a new disc just to upgrade the firmware and then put back your old disc? If so the dealer may do that FOC or maybe meet up with somebody on LOC and borrow their disc for 5 minutes.
  4. Bridgestone Potenzas are a range of tyres. There is a big difference between the models within the range. Lexus fit the cheapest tyres they can get away with as standard so they can always be improved on.
  5. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/01/05/police_remote_snoop/
  6. Goodyear F1s are ultra performance tyres. They have excellent grip and together with the tread pattern do not provide excellent fuel economy. Performance and economy just do not go together. However you state the F1 feel like they have less grip and tramline so I would strongly recommend you get a full 4 wheel geometry check.
  7. There is a minimum amount of fuel you need to add before it detects a fill up, this is also used to reset the mpg on this tank figure on the fuel computer. Something like 5 or 10 litres.
  8. the updates are more expensive than TomTom however that is an economy of scale issue. TomTom sell millions of SatNav units, Lexus sell only tens of thousand. Lexus do however seem to charge less than Mercedes or BMW.
  9. Have you tried posting on the Australian forums? The pull down box at the top of the screen ( -- LOC Network -- ) has links to the Lexus and Toyota forums. Somebody there should know the frequency used. US keys use 315Mhz, 433Mhz used in the UK.
  10. The sad fact is it probably will be like the Sony rootkit, badly implemented so the 'bad guys' are able to use it to access your machine.
  11. I hope it fixes it. Are you sure it's not the two pieces of plastic rubbing together? Mine did this, ended up gluing two together in a few places (small amounts so the two parts could be separated again if required). Interior rattles was one of the worse things about the series II GS.
  12. How low are the rear pads? They don't wear quickly on the rear so you may get 10k+ more miles out of them. I personally am not happy with non OEM pads although on the rear you probably won't tell the different. If you want genuine try here to obtain a price http://www.lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/ I've heard of the petrol gauge issue on the GS, didn't know the RX did the same. It basically adjusts the fuel gauge based on calculated fuel used and not just on the sender unit in the tank so it will go down even if you are not using it. Not sure if there is a solution, have a search/look on these forums as it has been discussed before.
  13. yeah those ones in your link are a pain to get back out again. There are a few different types of trim plugs depending on the application but they are common across all Toyota vehicles. If you can show your dealer an example they should have them in stock. Most of them are designed to only be used once, this is why things start to rattle/creak after you take something apart.
  14. I think they are around £180 and need to be sprayed.
  15. The IS, RX and GS all shared the same keys around 1999-2003. If getting from ebay make sure it will work in your country. For example the US keys work at a different frequency to the UK ones.
  16. If it's a 1999 then it isn't an RX300 but an import Toyota Harrier however I believe all Harriers/RX300s used a VVTi engine.
  17. Lexus dealer? Rare to find one on ebay.
  18. I don't believe that is true. The VVTi version of the 1MZ-FE engine is apparently an interference type. The older non VVTi versions of that engine, used in older Toyota Camrys for example, were non-interference and therefore damage would not occur. Most, if not all, Toyota engines up to around 1999-2000 were non-interference however due to higher compression ratios most of the modern engines are interference types.
  19. The TC light will come on for errors that have nothing to do with the traction control. You need to obtain the error codes to start to diagnose the problem.
  20. This method is used for all pre OBDII Toyota vehicles so this can also be used for the LS400s and GS300 Series I.
  21. I've just switched from Sky to O2. Very impressed with O2 customer service. Had such a bad experience with Sky I'm moving everything away from them; Broadband, Phone, TV, credit card.
  22. that oil is fine. What oil was being used before?
