  1. If you wanted an auto that would rule out the 220d. The auto 250 has better mpg over the manual version. You would probably get low 30s mpg in a 250.
  2. They don't really need to as they are basically illegal to use already.
  3. I find it very strange that the 400h doesn't provide this info on the Nav screen. All other RXs do as does the LS430, GS with Nav and SC. Still you are not missing much the Lexus fuel computer is very inaccurate. Always give over on mpg figures and range always get to 0 with a lot of fuel still left in the tank.
  4. Not a problem, one owner may have been a dealer and the first real owner probably only kept it 3 years.
  5. Interval is 100k miles or 10 years. Just had the belt changed on my series I RX300 after 105k miles. Asked for the old belt back, thought the garage hadn't changed it and given me the new one. Not a mark or crack on it, would easily last longer. On US forums people have gone 130k miles+ on an original belt (not that I advise this). It's only the IS200 that has an issue with the cambelt and needs to be changed more often. Why not chains? They can be noisy, are less efficient, water pump normally cannot be driven from them because if the pump locks up the chain will snap and do a lot of damage.
  6. I believe it uses an external amp so there must be line outs from the head unit but they won't be RCA connections. Weakest point of the stereo system on the GS are the speakers, you don't want to upgrade the amp without also doing the speakers.
  7. The GS460 is available. I guess Lexus GB don't want to bring them in unless they have a order. Very low volume sales, I was surprised they bothered with it when the GS430 went end of sale. Once the GS450h became available GS430 sales died.
  8. Are you sure it isn't just an inspection every 20k miles to check the level? I would probably change it every 60k or 100k miles. I doubt there is a drain, you need to suck out the oil from the filer.
  9. Lexus dealer? Just the rubber is available. http://www.lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/
  10. You can drive the car but depending on how bad the issue is you may not have brake assistance either, or it may not be able to keep assistance if you use the brakes for a long period of time. The error occurs when the air tank doesn't reach a certain pressure within a certain time period. Three things could cause the problem, leak in the tank, pump not working correctly or pressure sensor not working correctly.
  11. This is the first time I've heard of a face-lift series II having this problem. The face-lift model has a revised brake booster. May not be a design fault like with the pre Oct 2000 vehicle, just bad luck.
  12. It doesn't have one. IS200 engine uses a MAP which doesn't need cleaning. I would try cleaning the throttle body and check/adjust the TPS (throttle position sensor)
  13. I personally don't like the ride quality, especially when the roof is down. Vehicle based on the series II GS which isn't the best chassis in the world for a saloon, let alone a sports car. Engine is great but gearbox too lazy for anything other than a slow cruiser.
  14. The LFA and LFA roadster are more than just concept, they are going into production. Both have posted very fast times on the Nürburgring
  15. Mk1 fuel economy is poor. I don't think I've ever got over 28 on a run and that is keeping it below an indicated 80mph. 22 around town unless it's very small journeys in which case expect 16 to 18.
  16. Nice :) Such a difference in performance between the series II 300 and any 430. Pull from very low revs
  17. Throttle body may just need a clean, or idle control valve. I would recommend you look on the US forums, both the SC and the LS forums. Many more owners over there of the 4L V8, so you will probably find an accurate procedure to follow.
  18. once the fault was corrected, by replacing the coil pack, the engine check light would have gone out itself after three restarts. No need to reset the ECU at all.
  19. you would need engine, gearbox, all ancillaries, ECU, new wiring loom, new exhaust. I imagine new engine mounts as well.
  20. dealers always remove the old mats. Normally try and sell you new ones!
  21. When the aircon is on the engine idle speed is increased to compensate for the additional engine load and therefore it is much less likely to stall due to low idle. I would recommend the throttle body is cleaned and the throttle position sensor is checked for adjustment.
