If they can't find it just ask for the latest ECU software to be installed.
Since 2001 most models use a 32-bit ECU that allows for the software to be updated. Before that the whole ECU had to be changed!
Not sure what is different on a BEAMS engine to a non-BEAMS engine. It's not heard of over here. In Japan both 4 and 6 cylinder Altezza, GS300 and the V8 4.3 engines are labelled as BEAMS
However the Black top 3S-GE engine has some things not normally found to increase the performace:
dual vvt-i. Both intake and exhaust timing is adjusted
titanium valves
11.5 compression ratio (most engines are 10.5). The auto Altezza has 11.0 compression which is why it is 10bhp lower.
I would think the new model will appear late 2005/early 2006. It won't be here at the end of this year, that is when the new GS and the RX hybrid come out.
There will be a AWD version. The US market wants it. The IS sportscross already has AWD in Japan. The only question is what countries will it be available in?
April edition of WhatCar? has a twin test between the RX300 SE-L and the VW Touareg. They have the Lexus value at 59% after 3 years which is only bettered by the X5. Although trading into a Lexus dealer won't get you that percentage.
I would at least wait until the pricing is available for the RX400h. If it's not much more than the SE-L then I would get that. I have a feeling it will be quite a bit more.
The basic engine is the same although there are quite a few differences. e.g. the series II engine has vvt-i, higher compression ratio, electronic throttle, different ignition, produces more power, less emissions and better economy.

Wheels may not fit. The calipers do stick out a long way. Supra has +50 offset wheels and the spokes miss the calipers only by a couple of mm.
Increased risk of theft. Also if the car is more powerful then if it was a production model it would have a higher insurance group over the standard model - they are just doing the same.
Tested colours and they work too.
Select the colour and the [ COLOR=...] will come up. Type in your text and then put a (or use the close all tags) at the end and then start another colour
