  1. I've asked the Lexus dealer to fit Dunlop Sport Maxx, they came pretty close to Black Circles £83 fitted price, enough so as not to warrant two garage trips, when it goes in for it's MOT on Wednesdsay. I'll be very interested in the difference to the current rock hard and i feel quite noisy Yokohamas. I'll report back when I've had a chance to try them out. Had them on my Mercedes and they were very quiet, I'll put them back on after the winter months. Would have put on Michelin Cross Climates but they don't make them in 215 45 17. If they did I'd put them on in a flash, great tyres. Perhaps Michelin will increase sizes available.
  2. I've just fitted 4 Michelin Cross Climate tyres to my Mercedes, absolutely brilliant tyres, quiet as a mouse and no road rumble oranything, suspect they will go very nicely on the Lexus.
  3. Well, on a nice positive note my nice shiny alloy wheels stay nice and shiny for ages, my other car's go black just looking at them....Being a bit OCD about looking after it this is a huge plus, as well as not chewing through brakes and tyres at the same rate I presume.
  4. Hi Sunil, we bought a 2011 car 3 months ago, with 19000 miles on the clock. We bought a package for service 4,5 & 6 for £797. I think Service 6 is an expensive one. Don't know if it was a great deal or not but we got peace of mind at least.
  5. Regarding the US sites I think they are right, when the refuel light comes on it won't take anything like the quoted size of the tank, I think Lexus are just being overly cautious. Then again I have noticed my speedo is hopelessly wrong, I compared it to my new Tom Tom and iphone navigation which were identical, in contrast the Lexus speedo over reads by ten percent, appalling accuracy. Still, helps with speeding tickets.... Overall I like the car enormously but it is a bit of a 'Curate's Egg'
  6. You must be a real fun guy to be around!
  7. Hi Colin, thanks for the reply, picked up my car today, they fitted a new auxilliary battery as a goodwill gesture and claimed there was no fault with the original battery as they had charged it an it wasn't losing charge. Turns out the AA guy could have boosted it according to the Dealer. I'll watch this space as they say. Apparently the dealership had bought 35 CTs off lease and mine had been in stock 9 months, i suppose that could have taken it's toll on the battery?
  8. Battery Failed in my 61 plate CT200h last night. Car was totally dead and had to bragged on to a transporter and driven 50 miles back to Glasgow! Only bought this car in June, 19000 miles, They say i will probably need a new aux battery at £95 + VAT and it's not covered by the Lexus warranty. My last Lexus IS300 Sportcross was on its original; battery after ten years. Feel pretty ****** off with Lexus. Battery goes and it was locked in gear, not nice to see your car being winched on to transporter dragging locked wheels. Anyone else had battery problems?
  9. I've got Dunlops on my C class Estate and i really rate them, will probably go for them when the time comes. I'm on Yokohamas at the moment, they're rated at 67db and one nice feature is the tyre has a protruding edge to protect the rims from, inevitable, damage. Having written that I might just plump for the same? There, I'm easily swayed!
  10. Wife has the car today, I'll check that the AF is on, always wondered what that was! Hopefully it'll improve things, makes sense. Sorry you're having woes, my last Lexus was exemplary. also very worrying re Lexus customer care, they always seem to get rave reviews. Also, thanks to Colin Barber, i wonder if you can get better aeriels as a straightforward screw in fix?
  11. Hi there, new to our 2011 CT200h SEI however one thing tat really narks me is the terrible radio reception, our 2005 Sportcross, a 13 year old design was heaps better. For anyone with any Scottish geography, we live in Glasgow and within about twenty five miles, just short of Loch Lomond reception just breaks up. This is FM, not DAB, wish i had that option. Does anyone else have any experience of this. Not quite sure how to bring this up with the dealer, not really going to drive 50 miles are they to ttest reception, and it's all a bit subjective, not like ahandy knocking noise is it! Has anyone tried the DAB upgrade? I'm seriously considering this if only to improve reception. I go up north fishing a fair bit but if i cant get radio reception I'll just need to take our other, gas guzzling car. Thanks for any replies. Ed in Glasgow
  12. I for one would be very interested. Many thanks
  13. That's about the best description I've read about these engines, many thanks, everyday is truly a school day! Ed
  14. Hi guys, I'm interested in this debate as well, my previous Lexus, an IS300 defintely appreciated Shell Champagne and on a long run it was definitely worth the extra cost as mpg was definitely impoved. Around town it didnt matter as it just drank like George Best. Had the CT for a month and have only run it on 98 Ron Shell Champagne. Im getting 53 on average, over twice as good as the old car as a matter. Telegraph did a good article, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/advice/is-supermarket-fuel-ok/ I always rate Honest John. Great forum, had years of great advice from the old IS forum. PS, what is an Atkins cycle engine?
  15. Sorry to hear this Sarosh, i find this appalling, Lexus dealers were said to be the best around but more and more i do read about some poor reports. Best bet is still E bay Breakers, something will turn up but the dealer shpuld be named and shamed!
  16. Here's hoping i never need to find out! Mnay thanks for everyone's very kind responses, a great forum which will undoubtedly grow and grow. Glad to see some fellow Scots on the forum, when i had the Sportcross i felt very alone up here, only ever saw one other, and that was a is200. We could posbly organise a meet sometime in the future, down in the borders perhaps? Ed in Glasgow
  17. I've just gone into the settings and I think that's the locks sorted, thanks a lot guys, this forum has been helpful to me over the years when I ran my IS300 Sportcross, decidedly old school compared to the CT! Honest John, the Telegraph motoring correspondent, always stated you couldnt jump start the Auris Hybrid so i presumed the Lexus would be the same. Another peek at his website does state the Jazz hybrid can be jump started so i guess there's no reason to suppose the CT cant. RTFM as they say......
  18. Not sure about modern electrics but it used to be open air vents setting off the alarm, you could try closing the vents i suppose? On a slightly related note my wife finds that she gets ouit of the car to retrieve something from the boot to find the rear door still locked, it is all a bit too clever with too many options sometimes. Other than that I am loving the car, quite a contrast from our 3.0 Sportcross, but in a nice way. One schoolboy question, is there a 'normal' 12v battery in the car or is it that electric engine and boot batteries only? I know you can't jump start these cars, but can you 'trickle' charge a hybrid??
  19. Many many thanks Peter, the picture is the perfect reference, your time is much appreciated. Ed
  20. Hi Peter, i have all the bits now, one final question, which poins are 1 & 2 on the back of the mirro which has 7 pins? For anyone else readig this i see on ebay someone is selling one from a written off CT200 for £25, too late for me sadly.
  21. Hi Peter, i've just taken delivery of a 2011 CT200h Se-i and much as you, missed this feature from my IS300 Sportcross. Ive ordered the mirror as you suggested, im not sure what Dupont wiring to buy, any chance you could be a bit more specific about the wiring requirement, as in what to buy? Thanks for a great write up, I'll be delighted to hear about any further tweaks you come up with. Ed in Glasgow
  22. Hi everyone, new to the CT, our beloved Sportcross was reversed into and repairs deemed too expensive relative to value. Wanted to stick with the brand and CT fitted the bill nicely. We have a 2011 SE I and no cruise control, at least till i saw this post, Glasgow Lexus, great garage by the way, are retrofitting the item for £210.00 inc VAT. They're doing it next week so many thanks for making the info available. Ed in Glasgow PS, i always used V Power or premium fuels, will i notice a difference with the CT fuel consumption?
  23. FWIW I just bought a Mercedes C Class Estate as i needed the space. I was offered a paltry sum as a trade in despite a Full Lexus History and being in excellent condition. My wife decided to use the Lexus and she returned her lease car, a Juke. She LOVES the Lexus.Thought the merc was nice until i drove the Sprortcross again the other night, it is a way better car! Build quality is far superior and comfort is streets ahead. Only problem with Lexus is that it drinks like George Best, especially as it has a bike rack on it mostly these days. If only Lexus did an estate car! I keep bees and sometimes need to move hives around the place.Suspect an RX may be in the offing in a couple of years.
  24. i was using Bosch until last week and they were noisy, went down to Lexus and replaced the blades for £28.80 and the wipers are now silent! In future they can just replace the rubbers which is a lot cheaper apparently.i had read the originals were best and this confirms it. We've had some heavy rain and they also do the job of keeping the screen clear. My tuppenceworth for what it's worth.
