  1. Its not very good though, lasts about 2 weeks. However, if you want a nice smell that lasts a while, try some Autosmart Blast. It should come with a warning label - squirt only once in your car otherwise it'll put you to sleep! Its really THAT strong
  2. Cheapest I got was £500, does depend on where you live though and of course the likelihood of the car being stolen or damaged and the inevitable mileage the car covers. Ive found that leased cars/company car insurance tends to be more expensive than if you own the car, probably because some people treat the cars like trash and try to get everything done before handing the car back when changing! (BMW owners mainly lol)
  3. They wouldnt know that though would they :P lol
  4. Already been done buddy - chemical guys new car smell! :D
  5. Just to add some more excitement to the mix - HUD is available on the F-Sport. Received confirmation from Lexus UK today, however, it will be an option. They're trying to get a price for me as we speak. Therefore a 450h F-Sport will be pushing approx £58k fully loaded with HUD, Pan roof, paint and ML Update - Price of the full colour HUD is £995 for F-Sport
  6. It honestly depends on the leather used. Most are using artificial leather, for example Mercedes Artico. BMW tend to use real leather (dakota) but its not very high quality, its hard and quite rough. Having said that, the nappa leather is very good. Cheaper leather tends not to have a nice smell, high end cars will always have a nice leather smell due to the leather. However, most of the new car smell comes from adhesives and sealers which release scents into the air. They were thought to be a health risk so I think that may have caused them to crack down on it.
  7. Its called Nightfall Mica. Its available in the UK too Australian reviewers have said the RX200t is good, nimble and punchy due to the way the 6-speed is configured and with that 350nm of torque down low (only slightly less than RX350).
  8. Yes the mirrors fold in when locking - it has to be on auto. The wife's 300h F-Sport doesn't jump back at all - neither does my RX. No idea what version its running but the interface is pretty smooth that I haven't really noticed it! Everything works as it should and it hasn't frozen yet
  9. I polish my car in an LED garage, no issues with mitts and 2 buckets. The problem is brushes are hard and will scratch paint. I don't think Lexus did their research properly tbh. I can't see why this 30 x 20 area has ppf on it but the front bumper doesnt
  10. There's no requirement to have a reversing light fitted - they fall into the 'optional lamp' list. Neither is it an offence, if you have one or more fitted, for them to be inoperative. I always thought they were to light any unlit space to the rear, to the benefit of the driver going backwards! Generally, the fact that you're moving backwards lets people behind you know you're reversing! :D Pete That's true. I should have clarified that it is a legal requirement in some European countries
  11. Ill be honest, I can't see you're point? Reversing lights are to show people behind you that you are reversing. One light does the same job as two, therefore 2 is absolutely unneeded. Having just one reversing light isn't a legal requirement, its a legal requirement to have 1 rear fog and 1 reversing light Besides, Lexus aren't going "backwards". You bought an NX, not an RX, its supposed to be a lower end vehicle.
  12. I dont like using brushes on the paint and the wash mitt couldnt get the gunk out of the edges. Also, it was yellow and I don't like how it interrupts the door, looks like an aftermarket add on so it had to go - few days now and no issues whatsoever. However, the mrs did drive over a glass bottle in the middle of the road today and im praying there's not a puncture! The PPF wouldnt have been useful in this situation and therefore are useless.
  13. few bits and bobs in there which are incorrect. A conditioner does soften leather, however, on a BMW 650i would not benefit from the conditioner. The reason for this is because modern leather is sealed with a coating. Therefore, a conditioner isn't going to penetrate the leather at all, instead sitting on the top of the coating and attracting dirt. Leather conditioners were originally designed to be used for classic cars, those with no coating. However, having said that, I do have some Gliptone Conditioner and I think its a bit odd as it leaves protection behind, causing water to bead up on the surface. However, in terms of cleaning power, Dodo Juice is unbeaten as long as its used correctly ie: 1) Warm damp cloth to open leather pores 2) Spray dodo juice leather cleaner on the leather and use a soft bristle brush (natural, not nylon as it damages coatings) to agitate, 3) Use a microfiber to remove Ebay has a Dodo Juice Kit on for £23.99 with free p&p.
  14. The right pad thing with the black border is a random piece of paint protection film to supposedly stop stone chips and scratches. However, I can't really see how a stone is going to land on that 30 x 20cm spot, especially on the side of the car so I got rid of it - looks much cleaner now! The left pad which is smaller (and not as dirty) is also paint protection film - I removed this too. I think its to stop scuffs when people get in the car but on my wife's previous car, it didn't have this and there were no scuffs so I'll take the chances.
  15. Who was that? Paul? My list so far worth going to Bradford, Stockport, Bolton, Chester, Manchester, Stoke and Leicester. Not a fan of Edgeware road and Hatfield
  16. Treatments shouldn't leave a shiny finish at all. However, having said that, valeters at dealers use a sort of dash/leather/all surfaces kind of product so they don't have to keep different products for everything. The problem with these is that it has silicone in it so leaves a shiny and slippery surface on the leather as well as attracting dirt. Dodo Juice leaves a matt look and their sealant is not overly slippy unlike the stuff valeters use. Im sure you won't be disappointed with it - I think Autoexpress have also rated Dodo Juice leather cleaner their no1 recently, its definitely a great product and as good as Dr Leather. Its much cheaper which I why I bought it. And yes, the sealant will keep it looking cleaner and a periodic wipedown with a damp cloth will be all thats needed until it wears off
  17. Ive got galvanised bolts on my RX - its been 3 years and no problems yet. Let us know how you get on with the new ones
  18. The hybrid system does make a noise when braking yes but to fully understand the sort of noise, would you be able to get a passenger with a phone to try and record it?
  19. Thats Lookers for you buddy! Went into Hatfield once, not only were they rude but their prices on used cars were £2-3k more than equivalent specs, dates and mileages! Cant recommend Lexus Bradford enough though - they fit 4 tyres on my RX for £50 and did an MOT for £27! Fast Alan is the salesman you want to talk to lol!
  20. Well that sucks. Lookers are awful. Not going back there then, rather stay with Bradford
  21. Shouldnt really matter - they probably won't notice it - if they do, just say they removed it before delivery lol
  22. Should only be £773 mate, not £935! They service IS250's for that much as well as my RX450h! They've practically given you a discount because they can and they'll still get a lot of profit!
  23. So the dreaded paint protection film - brilliant for protection - utterly disgusting in terms of aesthetics! As you can see from the attached thumbnails its gone slightly yellow, on a bright white car! Not only that, take a look at the tyre gunk surrounding the edges - it does NOT come off by routine washing! So I'd had enough of looking at this monstrosity and removed it! I thought long and hard about it at first. I dont like stonechips but the likelihood of one hitting that spot is close to 0! In fact, the car is 2 years old and out of all the light scratches I polished out today - none were anywhere near the PPF! Things you need: Hairdryer 2-3 minutes total A nice comfy bit of carpet to rest your knees on! - some 18" biceps And finally some tar and glue remover (Autosmart Tardis used here) OK so this seems pretty simple, heat the damn thing and just pull right?! Nope, it's not that easy, for reasons I'll explain later on...........trust me...... I tried it this way first and it took ages! So to begin with use the hairdryer and heat up one of the edges. Make sure you concentrate the heat on one just one edge and then use your fingernail to lift the sticky edge up. Now - put down the hairdryer and without heating ANYMORE of the paint protection film just pull. This PPF is designed by 3M who designed it to be removed without heating! Now the reason I said "DONT HEAT ALL OF IT" is because the glue becomes sticky, therefore sticking to the PAINT! That way, you have to remove ALL of the glue from the paint!! When just heating one edge, you only get glue residue on that single edge and thats all making the job much much easier! Lastly, the tiny bits of glue residue can be removed using tar and glue remover, in this case Autosmart Tardis - if you decide to heat the whole PPF, it'll take a lot of elbow grease - I tried it with one and it took 15 mins! With the other, I just heated one edge and pulled - it came of with barely any residue at all! So, I hope this helps some of you who have light coloured cars (especially WHITE!) and want to remove this poor excuse of "protection".
  24. Holy **** - £140.20 is 15% so 100% is over £900. Surely you arent paying £900 for 3 services!? It should be around £773 if I remember correctly
