  1. Hmm well I guess the discount thing may be an issue right now simply because there are no cars in the UK right now. Id imagine itd get more competitive once they realise that not many people are actually buying them. Im in no position to buy another car ATM. Im waiting till November next year and Ill grab an ex demo I think. They drop like a rock in the first 3 years. Ive lost £25k or something lol. On a side note, Autoebid have updated their site and its still showing £7k off so maybe worth putting an order through them?
  2. Id say its worth waiting for the 2016 model. Or, if not, wait until the 2016 model lands and the current RX takes a slight drop in price and then buy it.
  3. I've got to say the Car magazine report on the RX was pretty **** in all honesty. Why do they expect it to "thrill"
  4. Well you did say the other day you know more than a Lexus salesman, and that isn't difficult. ;) From the official Lexus press pack: Fair enough, I guess my dealer doesn't know yet oops I don't think any Lexus ECU has been cracked yet has it?
  5. I was told the F Sport doesn't have it unlike on IS250 models but not sure as I haven't driven an F Sport 200T. Anyone driven one yet? It's a good car but the IS300H is hardly slow and the price difference is only £1k so you'd really have to hate the 300h to get one. I'd assume depreciation will be higher in the 200t? It's much closer together than it was for the NX. I wish theyd programmed the 8 speed like they did in the IS350 or ISF. However, I think they were trying to make the numbers lower than the IS350 otherwise no one would get one in other markets
  6. Yes I found that with the ASC too. It was making a rumble at low speeds, very annoying so just turned it off. I've driven the IS once on the motorway from Chester on the way back and never noticed anything at all. I'm sure I would feel something or other
  7. "lexus fanboys" grow up and dont be so rude. I am not a "fanboy" any more than you are. My car is an early model and definitely does not have the problem. No car manufacturer issues a recall if only a few are affected. If your car is then take it to a dealer who will fit the damper for you. Ed :megaangry: Well said. Im assuming its not a common issue as this is the first time Ive heard of these drivetrain issues. Even the reviews dont mention it, which would almost DEFINITELY be the case if it existed on all cars as the journalists need an excuse to knock a star off! I would have thought the first point of call would be the dealer to find out what it is and get it fixed if it does exist. I cant find any international forums with this problem either ?!
  8. yes, GP, hence the plate. I saw a White IS300h F-Sport on Friday evening when in my wife's IS300h just outside Staincliffe School by the church- wasn't you was it?!
  9. So, I got to test an IS200T Sport a few days ago. I won't go into details of the styling, interior etc etc but focus mainly on the handling and driving of the vehicle. Bearing in mind, this was an IS200T "Sport" and not an F-Sport but even so, it was very well specced with the business nav and 18" black wheels for a base model. Not a fan of the black mirrors but thats another story, however I did like the grey accenting on the interior. So the drivetrain - well, its good! It feels like a small V6, probably the smoothest four cylinder Ive tested to date and its got plenty of torque for day to day driving. Fuel economy was OK - got about 28mpg but I guess I was driving it pretty hard. Handling is somewhat better than the IS300h down to less weight presumably. The only disappointments - the engine is very quiet for a sporting model. I was told no models have the intake for a throatier sound including F-Sport models and I wish it was a bit louder. But, its a Lexus so maybe thats what customers want. No AVS option on any models either which is odd too. The 8 speed transmission is good, pretty quick shifting for a conventional auto, the only problem was launching from a standstill. Unlike the 6-speed in the NX200T, the launch in the IS200T is very lazy, like its starting in 2nd gear almost all the time. I think this is the reason for the 7s 0-60 time which does feel identical to the NX. It could be much faster - 6-6.5s if it didnt take so long to get up and go from a standstill. No word of a lie, it took about 1 second to move after prodding the throttle from a standstill, something which doesn't happen when rolling. There is slight turbo lag but nothing serious, its just annoying that it takes so long to move at traffic lights when flooring it! Oh and the best bit - turn the traction off and it hits the limiter without shifting up!
  10. Havent felt any odd vibration or anything when driving - I probably would have noticed if it was bad as my RX is silky!
  11. I live in Yorkshire - near Batley. Never put winter tyres on any of my cars and never had a problem either. Best bet is to use main roads in the winter. Ive put all seasons on my RX but not had anything vaguely close to snow/ice yet so cant comment.
  12. The compound on a V tyre is different to a H tyre. V tyres are able to dissipate heat more readily which ensures greater stability at speed. For example, if you drive a car with H tyres at 80mph and the same car with V tyres you'll notice a slight difference in steering and change of direction
  13. What drivetrain issues are these? No problems here and I have an early model
  14. As mentioned above, turn the sensors off, give them a clean and then turn them on to see if it goes away if not, its like you have a faulty sensor. Shouldn't be too costly at all if it needs doing.
  15. Not what the Lexus sales staff are willing to put their signature to. The new models seem to be affected just the same as older versions. My R Line Touareg isn't standard (the standard kit of the R Line is a higher spec than other marques as it is) but listing extras is hardly a chore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The sales staff are talking out of their backsides - I know Lexus better than they do, in fact some of them didn't even know the new RX was coming and whether HUD was available on the F-Sport models. and it doesnt affect the newer models as much as it did. The older 400h had issues as it had a smaller battery. The new cars have standard battery sizes and its not a problem unless something is loose such as the terminals It would certainly be a pain phoning up everytime I had to get insurance on an Audi or something to say a massive list of everything on the car especially when you have 2 cars. Would be a PITA if I needed to claim and missed something out by accident too! Ive gone off VW's now - I dont find them as luxurious as they used to be, more rugged than luxury IMO - especially after coming to Lexus and being pampered by the gliding seats and steering wheel when turning the car on, slow closing windows and the HUGE kit list. Lol. You know Lexus better than the sales staff. Very amusing. Every car has a build code. The insurers can easily check that against the registration or chassis number to get a full specification list. Hardly a chore or a chance of missing something off in a claim. My Touareg R Line has every luxury of a Lexus RX450H. Whilst they are both designated as SUVs, they are totally different cars. A RX is rarely, if ever, likely to seriously venture off road, whereas a Touareg is and can cope with it even on standard tyres. The Touareg also has a bigger load area with the seats up or down. Does it make the RX a bad car? No it doesn't. But it makes it more of a Chelsea school run car than a proper 4x4. You hate VW and love Lexus. Whoopy do for you. But all this schadenfreude rhetoric is ill placed. The UK government are not going to take any retrospective steps against VW owners. I will therefore continue to blow my smelly, polluting diesel emissions wherever I go luxuriating in the fuel economy of a big V6 Tdi. Especially in Scotland. Enjoy your RX. I certainly intend continuing to enjoy my VW Touareg. Im not even joking - I do know Lexus better than the sales staff - half of them dont even know the NX300h engine is from the US ES300h and that the "Mesa red" they speak of on the GS is not "mesa red" at all, infact being crimson red which has a different shade and colour code. It is only being changed to Mesa red for the 2016 GS facelift Their job is to sell cars - not to know anything past the basics - frankly they dont even know that the IS300h F-Sport uses aftermarket sourced tokico shocks! If you go to any Lexus dealer I bet a badger they won't even know who makes the electronic components of the Lexus range - mostly Denso.

  17. I still dont believe the computer...... 46mpg is way too high and never have I driven an IS250/GS250 which has got anywhere near that!
  18. If you're doing low mileage then the 200t does make more sense, I think its only £1k cheaper though but we don't know how well it'll depreciate yet which may offset things. Being nosey, what kind of discount did you get on the IS200T? I think they're giving out £2-4k discounts on the 300h which may have offset the initial £1k cost on the 300h. After driving the IS200T, it takes off slower than the hybrid due to the way the gearing is set up, somewhat like its starting in 2nd gear all the time but torque is very useable in day to day situations. Having said that, the refinement is ever so slightly less and the performance difference is not as big as I expected it to be. I went in thinking itd be NX300h vs NX200t all over again but its closer than I thought this time!
  19. Its very odd, something isnt right. The MAX ive achieved in an IS250 is 34mpg but 46.8mpg is way too high. Id say its not registering correctly as a V6 will guzzle through fuel no matter what. I barely get 46mpg in the IS300h!
  20. I meant the original post buddy. 46.8 mpg is theoretically and practically impossible for an IS250 no matter how you drive it. The only real plausible theory is that the MPG was reset while going down a hill. If I do that in my RX I can achieve 99mpg btw ;)
  21. Was just wondering if any of you had seen this - looking at the speedo its about 80mph. That impact though........ And the car - what was left of it anyway.....
  22. I've driven it. To put your mind at rest it drives very well The 4 cylinder is very smooth and the torque is great. Fuel economy isn't great tbh, I couldn't get over 28 mpg but hey ho
  23. Clear coat peeling is only fixed by respray. No 2 ways about itThe good thing with soft paint is its easy to polish. No need for aggressive compounds
