Bought this off the bay a couple of days ago. Press release pack for the 98 gs and ls range.
Has some great photo's and facts, My gs300 navigator cost £34,000 new and another £2500 for the sat-nav. WOW.
Welcome to the club Symon, Nice to hear a first hand account how long term reliability is on a Lexus. Have you any pic's of the cars? The ls600 sounds nice.
Welcome to the club Craig
I have just done a trip to Boston lincs from chesterfield in mine and averaged 34mpg for the trip.
There are guides on the web for changing stereo unless it's the navigator model, then you can only add an aux input. Again guide is on club Lexus

The wind noise due to worn door seals can be fixed cheaply following my guide on here.

If you do go ahead and fit them, there's no need to worry about tape or paint. My old is200 had one fitted when i bought it and never moved even after 2 yrs of jetwashing.
Once it's on it isn't going anywhere.
Couple of tips. don't try fitting while it's damp or cold and make sure the glue is at room temperature at least before fitting to car.
Yes a double din will fit with the facia adapter available on the bay .Bypassing the amp is easy as well also with adapter off e-bay.
Using amp bypass you will lose the woofer on rear speakers.
If your new headunit has pre-amp outputs it is possible to keep original amp by converting existing wiring inputs to amplifier
My son did mine, it's a bit more time consuming but it is possible..
I haven't purchased a car but i have used them for spares. They were very helpful, i only wanted rad fans but they gave me rad as well.
I would use them again.
