  1. The answer to the question you posed is Lexus, simple as that, but keep it a secret, don't want the rifraff moving in. Any piccies by the way, we like piccies.
  2. I know it's difficult, any chance of a close-up piccy of the offending items. I replaced my originals due to damage to the key tool for the locknuts. The 3 prongs had twisted, i think the previous owners garage had used an air gun to fasten them up and then a 10foot bar to finish the job. I replaced them with these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALLOY-WHEEL-LOCKING-NUTS-FOR-LEXUS-LS-430-460-600-SECURITY-LUG-BOLTS-6A-/321033512822?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_Trim_Nuts_ET&hash=item4abf16a776 Have got no complaints at all, they do as they should and the tool is very sturdy. Scroll down the advert and you see a photo with dimensions to give you an idea what you get.
  3. You can just see it if you look closely, and i hope he cleans up the photo
  4. Have the battery checked, or try to get another battery on just to test the starting of the car.
  5. It is little noisier than the quiet Lexus setup, not like a subaru racket though, v8 burble i would call it.
  6. I recently had a full SS sytem stuck on my 430, including 2 new catalytic converters for £600 made to measure. Lexus would had charged over £1500 for this lot and then add the labour fee. Had it done by Tony Banks in Leeds, i can give you the phone and address if you need
  7. By hook or by crook. I have only been a member of two other motoring owners club one was Reliant Scimitar owners club, ( that's the Reliant that did have a wheel on each corner) they were OK but I always got the feeling they were running a business rather than a club and the other was Mercedes Owners Club and if you didn't have the latest model they didn't really want to know you. I stress that that is just the feeling I got from them. The one Lexus meet I have made it too at the P&L was a genuine mix of owners with various models and ages and all friendly and only to pleased to help another member with what ever it took to help another member. Carry on The Lexus Owners Club. Mike Well said Mike. It is an Owners Club, simply for owners to enjoy the Lexus brand in all it's models, latest or oldest. Like you i have been a part of owner forums before and found them to be lacking if you don't have the car, latest mods or purchasing power to fit. This entire forum and the owners club behaves more like a motorcycle forum and club where the sharing of knowledge, help and friendliness is just done without issue, nobody is judged. And lets hope it stays this way for many years to come.
  8. I don't think it's jealousy, i think it's the fact they they have less intelligence than an amoeba, and that's being cruel to the nice amoeba. Cheap beer, bootleg fags, primark seconds for clothes, no educational prowess, no prospects and handouts from our wonderfull benefits system. I do feel for the genuine people that have to claim though, know a few myself, one of them is embarrassed that they need it after years of self sufficiency. Makes me think where i'm going wrong doing all this work driving 2000 miles a week malarchy.
  9. Raises just a little bit on open, then you lift it fully open. Replacement is quite easy, no more time than to drink a cuppa. Just a tad fiddly if you got shovels for hands.
  10. Some lovely images there from all the budding David Bailey protege's, well done to you all. I do like the new Lexus water pistol, costs mega bucks but you do get a free Ls430 and a washer bottle full of water. Shame we coudn't find a way to fix it so the jet nozzle cover don't pop off on use. There's time yet i guess.
  11. Yes it was me m8, no worries on the help, it's nice to see a lexus with a simple fix that costs pennies. Like i said, next time you see me in a pub, mines a pint form the beer engine
  12. Very nice meeting the old and the newer attendees, had some fun again as usual. Think i will bring a toolkit, jack, spray booth and spares next time Nice to see another 430 up close and personal, my other half really liked the new hybrid and the is250, i think a xmas request is possibly on the horizon.
  13. Tis a sad fact nowadays that some idiot will hit your car in a parking bay or even some twit with a i am a big hard nut attitude will decide to scratch your car. I don't disrespect the police, my other half is a prison officer and talks with them regular, they spend 30 minutes making an arrest then have to do 3hrs paperwork for it. The paperwork is needed beacause of this stuffed up society we have created with no win no fee solicitors, 1 i not dotted and they screw you over for improper paperwork. The police can't win, when they turn up they get abuse, when they don't they still get abuse, they have had staffing levels reduced, less money to do they job, more regulations to make them do more paperwork, the criminals know this and use it to their advantage, that's why you have issues trying to get them most of the time. Try dealing with criminals and then you will see who is winning the war on crime, i can tell you it's not the public or the police.
  14. I have used the Pagid brand before, they are ok but not as good as standard ferodo. Spend a litte extra and get the best you can afford, brakes and tyres need the best you can get for obvious reasons. EBC are also good, use them all the time on motorbikes unless i use brembo, not sure if you can get brembo for ls 430.
  15. Why does it cause so much heated argument? The law of this land is that on the highways of this country to use a disabled bay you need a Blue Badge. This is not true on private land such as supermarkets or public car parks. Anyone can use these disabled bays even if you are not disabled, you may get given a ticket (invoice) from the company that owns or runs that car park for failing to display a blue badge but this is very rare. Stealing, Fraud, Robbery, is not only criminal but anti social most people would agree. If you use the disabled bays without a blue badge or using a blue badge wrongly you are committing all the above but somehow feel that's OK as you are only going to be 5 mins to drop some things off at the charity shop and because of your good deed the disabled person can either wait while you go about your charitable duties or bugger off and find somewhere else to park. I think you get the picture by now. Using a disabled bay is as anti social as drink driving. theft, fraud & robbery. We are given a blue badge as many of us would just not go out. I got to that stage before my wife made me get one and when it arrived I felt as though I had been given back my freedom, so when you next go to use one of these bays wrongly please just remember you are no better that the rest of the fraudsters, thieves, robbers & drink drivers that infest our society. PS please feel free to say whatever you feel when you see this sort antisocial/criminal act going on by these antisocial people. Please don't think i condone the blue badge abuse, it is a great and i believe a necessary system and i would think it does get used correctly significantly more times than it is abused by the minority. It is an offence to misuse the permit, but the law will not waste to much time and effort on it, i know this is true, my other half is a prison officer. More and more crimes are being treated and punished less severely nowadays, there is not the money or resources to go around thanks to cutbacks from all government parties. You would not believe what crimes receive a lenient punishment nowadays, including blue badge abuse.
  16. Bit pricey though Cassette adapter £2 i prefer that figure.
  17. Ahh the disabled badge holder abuse argument. You will never ever solve this problem no matter what you do, apart from removing the blue badge completely. It is something that will run and run and be abused, argumented over, abused again and so on. I just don't bother any more, although just once i would like to park my big truck in a couple of disabled bays just to see what happens when i get out the cab, will anyone say anything.
  18. Never heard of management lights coming on as a weak battery warning. Sounds iffy to me. But maybe true. Easy way to check is pop another battery on that is known to be in good condition. I suspect the real issue though as Mark mentions is Lamba sensor or oxygen sensor, on a Ls430 at Lexus you are looking at £700 ish to get it done, i know as mine was needed to be done when i purchsed my 430 last year, i used it as a bargain tool to drop the price. The light on mine at purchase was just solid yellow, not flashing, don't know if it does flash either. You can fix them yourself at a fraction of the cost, but you need to know which one of the 4 sensors it is, yes it has 4, 2 per side. You also need to get the appropiate part, i've seen them on Ebay but cannot vouch for their reliability or fit. I do not agree with just switching a warning light off if the car is showing one, why is it on and what needs to be done to stop coming back. If this was the case, how many cars would be sold in such devious manner be unscrupulous dealers who don't care after they have your money. Dealers like this i do not trust. Hiding a fault is exactly in the sentence above. And yes another type of fault engine wise would bring the light back on. If you do get it switched of and buy the car, make sure the warranty you get will cover it if it does indeed return. Personally i would try to haggle the cost of the car down by the Lexus repair figure for a Lambda sensor first. Then if that works, let Lexus do the fix as you know it will be done properly.
  19. Welcome Looks like you may have dodged a wrong-un as they say. As peeps have said, a visit to the prospective new purchase is an absolute must. Push and pull every button and switch. Look at everything, there are many tips for what to look for when buying on this very forum, it helped me on my first ls400 then my ls430. I looked at many cars before finding the one i thought the right car for my money. It took a while but i got there in the end.
  20. Pedal cycle rubber is just as dangerous when not looked after, shifting along at a steady 25mph in traffic and a tyre drops you to the rim can easily throw you into traffic. Did that and got the scar to prove it. As a foot note, i do look around my tyres weekly for any noticeable marks blemishes etc, takes only a few seconds that could save your life. Even more so on my truck, 40+ton makes a mess when it hits anything at 50mph
  21. A V8 4L automatic trike, oh my, that would be something, So , one driven wheel at the back? Tubular frame to support the front struts? Not fully sure how the engine will sit as yet, until i see it 'up close and personal with its gearbox' then i can judge where it will sit and if i need to turn it back to front, but the frame will be indeed tubular strut all around with bracing to support. Got to convince the other half yet though as i know it won't be cheap to build.
  22. With regards to an MOT, always try to take your vehicle to a tester that does not have a repair shop attached, like halfords do for example, i know sometimes you have to or want to. I know halfords got slated last year or year before for failing a cars brakes, and fixing them without consulting the owner, they even put super cheap parts on that the owner would not have chosen. An independant tester with no repair shop does not care if the car passes or fails, they do the test and tell you. I find you get a better result of pass or fail as they have no interest in saying "it's a bit worn" to drum up business for themselves. Depending on what you plan to do with it, i may like to take the engine, gearbox and drive train. That lexus v8 trike is still a toy for the making in the back of my mind.
  23. Very nice, is the interior beige. Any more piccy's you know how much we like lexus porn. Looks like the mental Suzuki B-King bike to the rear left of the piccy, wouldn't mind a wind-up on that monster.
  24. I used Canbus LED's on my old Ls400, the error message still flagged up, the bulbs worked and showed no error in a lesser car, just shows the Ls will pick up even the smallest of change. I stuck a normal replacement bulb in after that and they worked as good as new.
  25. Are we doing a prize for shortest distance traveled ?
