  1. bottom heater is a better word as you can actually buy heated wipers lol. hmm well some renaults blue a blueish tint to the front screen and its a heated screen as far as i know, different technology to Fords im guessing
  2. think some Renaults like the migraines had em too. Think only Subaru had a similar system to the lex, essentially heated wipers
  3. Totally understandable about slowly spending money on her! i try not to spend more than a hundred a month lol of course mechanical side of things is always a priority and when stuff needs getting done it just gets done, the only thing ive waited on is WIM because ive got terrible uneven tyre wear on the front but thought i might as well get my moneys worth out of the nearly new tyres. Other things that need sorting are a couple of dings, driver side A pillar is marked so needs replacing, could do with some new door handles as the paint is worn, front bumper needs a resprays as its got 14 years of stone chips and there was a shoddy touch up made to the rear bumper when i bought it thats need doing properly. side skirts are bubbling, common issue on these. prob about £400 or £500 worth of work to get her perfect which isnt bad to be fair. Sorry to hear about the tint shop doing that! i swore when i read it but wont type what i said lol
  4. yeah i know random! When i first got the car i was using SRP which to begin with had a great result but after a few weeks gave a hazy effect that someone else on here also discovered. So i started just using scratch and scuff remover which was ok to use on plastics which worked quite well too but now just use brasso. so maybe a combination of everything and just a general scrub and buff has got them looking quite good. oh and even used the old tooth paste trick lol. havent used a sealant, i used the wadding
  5. That is frustrating! sorry to hear that. a new bonnet shouldnt be hard to source but the wing will prob need looking at. have you heard of claying? thats a long process that may get out your scratch mine isnt perfect but better than average ide say. but nothing a little money spent cant fix, just a few dings and rear bumper need properly touching up as the previous owner did a pretty poor job where someone scraped her. ive got a few scratches here and there too that wont buff out but for 14 years old im not complaining! and think its just stuff i notice more so lol I just give her a gentle wash regularly and a polish every 3 months. I did used to wax but now just polish. wax is better at protecting your paint and covering up defects polish just gives a good shine as far as i know. if you did use both im pretty sure you'd use the wax first and then give that top coat of polish. there are many stages to a proper polish etc but it can get pricey and its hard to get silver to pop anyway. but dont polish too often
  6. Thanks for your compliments. means alot. I actually wanted cream but if i was gonna swap it ide go for full leather and go all out. After trying loooads of stuff on the lights since owning the car i finally find brasso works really well which i got advised on here. But ive really given them some elbow grease to get them good due to not having a buffer. The fog lights have been replaced therefore look clean. The rear lights were that good when i got the car. Brasso on the rear fogs works a treat too. i actually have a thread i made here that you can see pics of my lip i bought http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/80646-lip-spoiler-on-ebay/page-2 I word of warning. not sure if i mention this in that thread but the first one they sent me is now somewhere rotting on the A5 somewhere! only lasted about 3 weeks. the adhesive they supply is rubbish! they sent me another kindly. but peel it off and get yourself some heavy duty trim weather resistant trim tape or similar, solved the problem for me and is still strong a year later
  7. Thanks for YOUR kind words :D I wouldnt call it pristine! there are a few defects the camera doesnt pick up but overall for its year its better than average. Couple of minor things that i havent got round to sorting though
  8. Car is looking pretty much perfect! I went for a SE hoping for a better ride but still find it a bit stiff for my liking, but like you said not unbearable, i thinking its a nice balance for this type of car and much better balance than say a 3 series. My mirrors and pillars are already shiny black but i have noticed some IS's this isnt the case or it has worn off, was that with yours then? I love shining up mine, i find SRP polish does a good job actually and covers up swirl scratches you see in direct sunlight. Exhaust looks so much better agreed. I love my OEM chrome tip and always polish it with brasso, also cleaned up the back box and its all nice as shiny for who evers behind me lol If your interested take a look at some pics i put up of mine recently. we just started to get some decent weather here so gave it a good going over http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/88029-finally-got-chance-to-polish-her-pics-is200/
  9. I like how you'll only wash it at work lol my Mrs complains i spend more time my the car than her sometimes lol looks good anyway. i thought the wheels were in good nick actually
  10. Next time just press the lock twice and that will double lock the doors but disable the alarm and im pretty sure it can be still opened from the inside too
  11. Its definitely something i would of done by now if i mine didnt already have navi. Ian had it in his last IS200 and was cool, i saw it at a meet. A very simple setup in fact just need the flip up screen housing
  12. wow amazing that others have just noticed this too. mines just hit 109k. for now i will do just that, have the window up lol If i get chance ill wip the wheel off tomorrow and have a quick look, and clean the wheel arche while im at it
  13. that is 55w, i would of thought it would be too bright? or not? never tried
  14. First time ive had the windows down for a long time with this nice weather and couldnt help notice a high pitched squeeling coming from the passengers side front wheel. Its not that loud but noticeable without the radio on and the window down. It only when the wheel is turning and doesnt get louder or quieter its just there. car drives and brakes totally normal. What could it be? Seized caliper? Debris trapped? brake pad warning indicator? I will have a look obviously, prob tomorrow now. but thought ide see if anyone would know first to give me a idea
  15. I got a SKF kit and it had everything
  16. Glad you found one mate. hope your enjoying it. since weve had some nice weather recently had the sun roof open window down put snow mode on and cruised about and listened to the engine. good times
  17. no no i realise this and actually took your same advise ages ago. My worry is ive mixed toyota stuff i originally used when i flushed and now top up with halfords
  18. Can anyone advise on halfords advanced pre mix extra long life?
  19. Wow this i didn't know! In fact i would of thought the Celsior being a Toyota it would be the other way round, but makes sense. Ive noticed even Lexus's in the USA are less well equiped than here. I thinking Lexus were generous when trying to Launch there brand here. Great pics btw what a genius idea with the headrest
  20. Some old literature and advertisement from a issue of american motor trend magazine from 1990. Bought it at a house auction in California and thought it would be of interest :)
  21. Hi Carl. Im seriously considering a RX300, would suite my lifestyle very well
  22. nice example. i love Croatia
  23. While where on the subject are 4300k a good colour to go for? one of my 5000k bulbs has just gone and thinking of putting in 4300k now but not sure if that is the same colour as my halogens which ive still got
