  1. Theres plenty of car breakers on ebay... maybe try a couple of them
  2. My car has a slight knocking type of sound on idle... but i think its just the type of general sound associated with a big agricultural diesel engine... its not harmed the car in any way... and its a lot quieter than the clicky injectors as in a background noise
  3. Hid kits in these cars do not dazzle other drivers. As they are projectors they focus the light into the road rather than other drivers faces. Reflectors on the other hand do not have that ability. I've been running hids in mine for a couple years now... no problems with mot either
  4. Removing the numberplate mount is easy. Done it on mine too. A couple of bolts and clips iirc... it will come right off... just will leave a couple of nasty holes, but the number plate covers them anyway
  5. I had that missfire symptom the first time i cleaned the egr on mine. About 4 years ago. But car is fine.
  6. ive used it several times when weather gets cold, not as useless as you may think
  7. another vote for Denso, tried Bosch, Halfords and a couple others, nothing compares
  8. I highly recommend Denso Hybrid wiper blades wax varies dependant on person so hard to put a best on that, I'm finding a £150 pot of wax best at the moment, but others may find a £15 liquid wax good. and for reverse, interior and sidelights, I highly recommend anything with cree diodes on. whitest led and high power. brake fluid I have some Shell dot 4 brake and clutch fluid ESL ready to go in, it has the right additives for our cars Brake pads on mine are Brembo o.e. replacements with MTEC dimpled and grooved discs, very good setup now my calipers are unseized. Tyres on mine are a mix of Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 K120 (225/45/17) and Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 (245/45/17), both very capable tyres and highly recommended. and engine oil is shell helix ultra 5w30, its recommended to go with emission compatible oils also
  9. The noise is happening whenever the wheel is turned. Its noisier when turned clockwise. Also i didnt mention its sticking slightly when on long roads or motorways having to un stick it when making any small movements
  10. Hey, im having a bit of trouble with my is220d. Over christmas i hadnt driven the car for approx 3 weeks. And now its developed a whirring/rubbing noise whenever i turn the steering wheel. Ive greased the dust boot in the bulkhead bu the sound is still there. It sounds like its coming from inside the plastic sheilding behind the steering wheel. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it is? Thanks, Jamie.
  11. I have ku39's on the rear of mine. They like to hold even if i push the car
  12. Had this problem on mine just before christmad. One caliper slider pin had siezed previously causing the pad to only be used one side until metal was hit. Causing a constant grinding sound. The inner pad was on metal and the outer pad was on about 5/6mm.
  13. Theres not much currently availiable for these cars yet. But intake, exhaust and a remap should see you nicely ove 200hp
  14. Have you primed the fuel pump? If not i suggest you try that.
  15. replaced my rear discs and pads yesterday, found both rear pins seized solid, bit of heat and a tap with a mallet got them out, cleaned them up with a bit of wet and dry, new seals and plenty of grease and they now work perfectly. think it will have to become an annual check from now on... like egr and servicing.
  16. I tend not to look at is220d problem threads much anymore. but I've had mine for 5 years, I've had the usual problems. had them sorted and she's still chugging on great :) . done close to 40k miles in her and reaching 140k miles and I still love every minute of it.
  17. I have 5000k hid's in mine. Honestly their not that great theres two very distinct bright spots and not very even in coverage... but still better than halogens imo. And their both slightly different colours!
  18. on the is220d there's two parts to the egr system, the valve itself and a egr cooler, iirc it runs with the coolant system, you may be able to block it somehow at the infeed end, but if not either end of the silver pipe should be good enough.
  19. I would stick to brand name ones as ebay jobbies are usually made of inferior quality parts and are worse for the car
  20. I find cree bulbs are good. Tis what i have in mine they are normally brighter than normal leds and whiter. You can buy specific puddle ones from somewhere also
  21. I also have a fault code scanner which can reset it, but doesn't work this time round.
  22. I clean my egr manually by taking it out and scraping, brushing any carbon out. and I had the dpf cleaned out aswell as the litthe pipes connecting to it last year and its gone again, ive used dpf fuel treatment and sprays.... just hasn't worked. so this is the last resort... ive tried taking it up and down the motorway to force the regen, also took it to a garage to get them to try force it with no luck.
  23. Imo the is220 is a great car... but had mine since 96k and had dpf and egr problems at 115k. Its cost me approx 1200 to fix so far. Without the problems the engine is great and powerful. But does not really like town driving or alot of clutch use if manual. And you can only get the best mpg wise on motorway journeys. Saying that though... i still love mine 3yrs on as the quality of everything makes the car a dream to own Just my $0.02 :)
