  1. +1 DJP. You need to drive the cars. Any dealer should be able to organise an extended drive. Lexus Derby gave me an IS Lux an GS Lux back to back 24hr drives and I did 200+ miles in each, even though they knew I was a Lex customer with no guarantee of them selling me a car. Personally, both cars rode very well. IMO the GS is softer, the IS sharper all round. The FSport IS I had from Toyota fleet was definitely firmer, but not so much it was uncomfortable. The ride was originally brittle until I checked the tyre pressures and reset them from 40psi back to the recommended 36psi and it became much better. It is exactly as I would expect given it had a sports biased suspension and licorice band tyres! I'm sure the GS FSport is similar but starting from a softer base. They are designed and optimised for different demographics.
  2. I see at least 3 or 4 every day on the M1 A50 M6. I don't note the regs but pretty sure they are different cars. By far most popular colour I've seen is white. Mix of Fsports and Lux, couple of SE only seen one Premier.
  3. The Bridgestone tyres are known to be noisy. I guess Lexus use them because they are Japanese? Need to wear them out and swap to a quieter tyre, like a Dunlop or pirelli.
  4. Cheers, I've just searched and found that Tel has already confirmed this with a dealer. Good stuff, something else not to worry about. Tinka - they don't swivel on UK spec cars. Premier has auto-dipping high beam option. It is one of things I think I'll miss the most, I have the full adaptive headlamp option on my current Vaux Astra and they are fab! Given the current high tech options that Lexus pack in, it is one I thought they might at least offer as an option.
  5. As per topic title. Do the 3rd Gen IS (IS300h/IS250) HID headlights need adjusting to drive on the continent or are they symmetrical and dip down, not left? I can't find anything in the manual about this topic at all, including how to adjust the headlamps. Only that of the bulb fails, I should take to to a dealer for replacement, which is pretty much par for the course now-a-days. Anyone know, or done it already?
  6. Wooohooooo! Finally, car is at dealers and can be delivered from 29th July. Only 7 more sleeps! That will make it 5 mths virtually to the day from order to delivery. Cannot wait. :D :zee:
  7. sitting reading the pdf copy of the owners manual, whiling away the days till delivery , noticed it states a minimum of 10L petrol is needed to put out the low level warning light on a level surface.
  8. Not seen anything for the Europe/UK Lexus market yet, but the USA have announced their 2015 model changes. Bear in mind they have a different set of spec's and models, but I can see some of the options carrying over to UK car's, such as the LED fog's for all and the different grey interior and trims. Interestingly, the 2015 cars and prices are declared live as of 1st July 2015. Copied from the Lexus USA press site - link too. http://pressroom.lexus.com/releases/lexus+2015+is+models+product+news+release.htm What’s New for 2015 "This is for USA cars!!" LED fog lamps Siri Eyes Free technology from Apple; compatible with iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 models Heated/ventilated front seats added to F SPORT (F SPORT AWD also gets heated steering wheel) Revised interior trim, including piano black on window switches and instrument panel New Stratus Gray interior replaces Light Gray Backup monitor adds dynamic grid lines to aid parking maneuvers Available Lexus Enform Remote
  9. Keefey, I've not taken delivery yet (literally counting down the hours), but the demo fsport I had, had std tahara seats. They are perfectly fine, bucketed slightly different style to the lux, electric and heated. Fitted me perfectly, very comfortable. I also prefer leather and it is expensive but comes with a few options that aren't clear in the brochure. Namely, elec memory with heat and ventilation, electric steering column, comfort access and auto folding mirrors with dip on reverse. This softens the blow a bit. It is also better on residuals, as the lease cost I got had a discount for having leather.
  10. Keefey, I was set on a Lux IS model and thought that the FSport was just cosmetics. I wanted one because of the lack of padding on the knee pads on the centre console, which the fsport and premier get. But a day's test drive later and I was sold, it really is more than just a set of wheels and body kit. Dials, seats, gearing, suspension, even the synthetic engine noise seemed louder and growlier!
  11. Pretty sure the highway code says you should only have your fogs on with your dipped headlights anyway. No big deal and as above usually fog is very bright so sensor thinks its daylight. Just turn them on manually.
  12. I wonder if this is why mine is delayed??? http://www.autoblog.com/2014/07/17/toyota-delayed-deliveries-japan-report/
  13. i drove a manual 320d Sport Tourer and a auto 320d 3-GT before deciding on my Lexus IS-fsport. My thoughts on BMW - I didn't get the "Ultimate driving machine" BMW feel/ride etc. Both cars had large alloy's and both were OK, but nothing special IMO. I think the IS was at least as good at handling and rode better over bumps. Diesel engine was pretty unrefined, the auto start/stop system in the manual car was particularly clunky, the auto one was better, but noise/vibration etc at idle and at speed was quite high. Also, quite a lot of wind noise form the top of the windscreen. Performance was OK though and economy wasn't too bad. No comparison here to an IS which is whisper quiet, almost all the time and has similar performance. The glass area of the current F30 model is very narrow and in some models, with black leather, dash, headlining all black, it is very dark inside, my wife was saying she felt claustrophobic inside the saloon/tourer. The GT model was better as you sit slightly higher, it has a higher roof line and more glass area. I think the IS has better fit and finish, a more interesting design and better materials here, especially the leather seats. Other than that, the only other point is how poorly spec'd they are in comparison. Do a like for like spec up on the online configuration and the BMW will be 2-3k more every time. Luggage space is similar in both IS and F30 saloon's and interior space likewise.
  14. Roger - are you saying if you have more info filled out in the Android/Samsung phone book - addresses etc - the contact info for that contact doesn't transfer at all???
  15. I thought they were pretty good. The vented seats was a new experience, had not had them before in a car, didn't really know what to expect! Thought I was going to feel wind whistling round my rear end, but over the space of a few minutes became aware it felt like my seat had moved and become a fridge freezer! LoL
  16. I had a demo GS300h Lux whilst I was choosing what I wanted. I had almost the exact same thoughts. IS is sharper, GS is (even!) better built, more luxurious etc, a superb motorway mile muncher. However, I think I came to similar conclusions - the IS has 95% of the luxury/build/refinement, but is sharper to drive, more involving, has similar space and more practicality (boot size is identical but orientated differently). For me, with a choice (as the costs were similar too) it was IS, but given a GS, it wouldn't have been a hardship. I also agree on GS450h, however costs ruled that one out for me!
  17. And so commences the "how far can you drive when the range goes to zero" game. Or the "is it possible to get the tank Max or more in the tank". On my current car, I've had the needle off the bottom of the gauge and still couldn't get the declared tank Max size back in! I know when the range/refuel now message is displayed I've got about another 30 odd miles left before it becomes really squeaky bum time!
  18. Looks great. Mercury Grey? Why the long wait before driving?
  19. Re: Microsoft. Yes he may have fixed it but would have charged you for the "upgrade". Lol. Pity to hear that the issues are still there. It would be good to actually get a list of the things fixed in each successive version. It will also be interesting to hear from those owners with the basic Nav or no Nav and see if they have the same issues.
  20. You get a lot more in a Premier model and with discount it probably is justified. Not a bad setup, a bit like the free premium Nav on the Lux models earlier this year. No mention of the word Premium, so I guess it is just the basic Nav package without connected services and reversing camera.
  21. I'd hope that the Inrix data is spot on too. It is the same service as used by BMW's RTTI service, and Audi, Ford Sync and Jag. Even the Highways Agency in the UK is using it to monitor traffic flows throughout the UK road network. It should also work throughout Europe.
  22. Uses Inrix data http://telematicsnews.info/2013/05/22/lexus-and-inrix-launch-pioneering-parking-and-traffic-navigation-service-on-the-new-lexus-is_m4222/
  23. Someone has to pay for the B&O TV, fancy coffee and IPads!
  24. looking good. My current car arrived by transporter and still had 76miles on the clock - go figure. Only another 40 ish days to go for mine.......................hopefully! :luck:
  25. it also does it if you leave the keys in the car.......... as I did when I had my demo one. I had the keyfob in my jacket which was in the back seat. I had forgotten about it, got out of the car and tried to lock it by touching the door handle and all hell let off with beeps! I wondered what it was doing, but on the display in the dials, it said " Key detected in car!". Very clever and kind of necessary I suppose.
