  1. If you want to tear up and down the motorway economically you are better off in a diesel. Preferably a white one with red stripes on the side and a blue light on the top. Hybrids are best around town and in traffic jams. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  2. Oh I drive backwards a lot. Once I get to my destination I reverse all the way back home again. Keeps the odometer reading low!
  3. This is the camera in the old style CT advance. In the mirror. The advantage of this is you can still use the sat nav when you are going backwards. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  4. What satnav comes as standard with the advance? The brochure says Lexus Navigation but it also has a reversing camera. The premium navigation comes with a reversing camera so I was wondering if the advance had the premium navigation and the book was wrong. Also does it have a shark fin antenna as seems to be the norm with premium nav cars these days. On my CT advance the reversing camera image is in the rear view mirror. Where is the image displayed on the IS advance? Thanks Paul
  5. Hi Tim. What type of reversing camera do you have? What do you need to know? I thought it automatically showed a picture if the rear of the car when you select reverse. Lines on the graphic show the edges of the car and how close you are to things behind. The one in my Advance shows in the rear view mirror and I use my wing mirrors first the get into a space between cars when parking, then the camera to see how far back to go. I think the one in the premier is similar but shows on the main screen. The lines on the graphic parallel to the rear of the car show distance to be able to open the boot etc. Experiment and you will find when to stop to give access to the boot. It's one of those gadgets you think you didn't need till you have one. Hope that helps. https://safedriving.wordpress.com/2012/01/24/how-helpful-are-reverse-cameras/
  6. Hi Tim Sounds like you have found a nice car. The Premier has all the toys. Post some pics and a review when you get it. Check the leather seats for wear though. There have been some issues. Paul
  7. I usually keep mine in normal mode. Eco dulls the throttle so much it makes it very sluggish and you end up pushing the accelerator more to get it going. Sport is fun but can be a bit quick if you are not used to it. The usual method for best economy is pulse and glide. Accelerate to speed then lift off and then apply a bit if throttle to maintain speed. You will find the economy depends on temperature. In the summer I get 55+ in winter lucky to get 50. Thrashing it in the motorway is also not the way to get good economy. Relax, sit back and enjoy the ride.
  8. Hi Tim. Why don't you tell us what is important to you and we can suggest a trim level that may suit. My 2013 advance has all that I want Tahara seats - fake leather but not heated. Satnav. Built in tomtom Reversing camera and parking sensors. Cruise control
  9. You can always leave the kids/mother in law by the side of the road and put the wheel on their seat.
  10. I bought a space saver from ebay for about £100. If you take the plastic box out from under the boot floor it fits under the boot. At least you get a jack. The wife's new Jazz didn't even come with a jack.
  11. Looks like it is only the f sport with premium nav that has the shark fin.
  12. Had a test drive on an IS last week whilst my CT was in for service. Very impressed, it is a step up from the CT. I was looking at a mesa red advance with ivory leather. But the dealer threw me by saying they had one in stock and could do it for less than £500 a month if I took delivery this month. He even brought one to my house in the evening so my wife could see it. Not sure of having a new car this time of year though, going into winter and all that. So will have another look in the spring. Can't wait. I thought they were on three months delivery.
  13. Hi stompe. The CT does not have heating vents in the back and the Lexus warranty is only 3 years. I don't think the CT is much different than the auris so may not be worth the change. The IS has vents in the back but that is a different car altogether. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  14. Is there a way to report the eBay listing to eBay or the police? I tried the report item but it did not seem very useful.
  15. It's also on auto trader at £13800 and 36000. With the same photos.
  16. Hi. I have just googled the reg number and it came back with http://www.ukvehicle.com/GX12LKP/ The mileage on here states 42000 in April but the eBay add states. 36000. Sounds fishy to me. Plus the buyer is new. Steer clear if you are not sure.
  17. Hi welcome to the club. It looks nice in Mesa Red. Nice to see a bit of colour. You see a lot of white, silver or black cars. What colour is it inside. Enjoy.
  18. You may also want to consider a pre 2014 advance. They have a built in TomTom satnav, reversing camera and fake leather.
  19. Try doing an average of 56 mph and see what you get. At high speeds the engine is purely on petrol and you are just lugging a heavy battery around as ballast. If you want to tare up the motorway and be economical get a diesel. Hybrids are better round town where it can use the battery more. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  20. I imagine it is dissipated in heat. Thus contributing to global warming!
  21. B mode is for going down steep hills where you would engage low gear if in a manual car. It's not meant for normal use. I think it's best to let the car decide when to recharge its batteries. You can help by being observant and ease off for example when approaching red traffic lights.
  22. If you need to stop use the brake pedal in the normal way. I am not sure if the brake lights show if you use B or regen braking. If you are slowing down best to let drivers behind know what you are doing.
  23. I usually see at least one IS or CT a day on my way to work. Not always the same one. However I must see at least 100 BMW, Audi or Mercs, but it is Cheshire.
  24. "With you foot on the brake the system knows you don't want to move forward and suspends all power to the motor. It doesn't monitor the parking brake in the same way and is therefore the electric motor is constantly applying a forward force." It could do. There is a red light on the dash showing the parking brake is on.
