Lexus Chap

It does beg the question how much would it have cost to have a welding job done? We seem to pay hundreds for OEM parts with virtually only a flinch, and yet someone with good welding skills, sheet metal and strengthening bar just doesn't seem to light our fire or come into the equation. I've got simiilar rust issues on my car as I did have a good look recently. Whats the downside of having welding done? Is it the time factor, removing carpets too much of a fag, cost or what? If these cars are going to be around a long long time then owners will have to consider such work, surely? Anyone had any welding done -put up your digit! -
Old thread revived for update on my LS400 So, I've had the Borbet Alloys fitted and put new Maxxi's on the front and Nexen's on the rear. I think the Borbets were refurbs from Poland and they are possibly the style on a smaller Lexus. Anyway, quite pelased with their appearance as the OEM's weren't flaking but impossible to clean between the pattern. Yes I think I like the look and didn't cost a packet. Standard size of course.

Would you change the Cambelt yourself on the Celsior? If not, and knowing that it may not have been changed for some time, its an expense to consider and worry about. As you say earlier cars are non-intereference and the Mk2 has had a belt change. As neither cars are worth a lot in todays market I'd keep the one that I most liked the style of. Having never driven a later Car I can't compare, but I was tempted to buy one recently and so, lesson learned from you as I can't drive two cars at once and my OH doesn't drive,I won't give myself the dilemma of which car to drive. If they are both garaged and you drive regularly then use them both for a little longer until it becomes clearer which you prefer. Presuemably its cost you additional insurance and tax and some parts . Will you break even or make a profit on selling? Stuart ps expect lexus chap to be phoning you rubbishing the marque if you sell one! His game is well documented.

The screw head sits on a very thin area of the plastic to hold one part to the other. its cracked all around the screw hole. Its holding together - just - with a piece of sellotape. This is the only key I've seen with a button on the side, I do have a spare and what may be a Master key without a button on the side. So, not desperate. Breakers will rarely sell the key without the Ignition barrel so I'll just keep looking on ebay and maybe one day........

I must be dyslexic ! Agree about the paint it looks like new on my Car. Amazing its what sold it to me without a viewing. Dangerous I know (and have paid a price) but exterior impression is 85% selling factor. The G Limited MR2 Import I owned also a "K" reg never had the qaulity finish that this car has! Take the point Ruud makes about the Gel coat. My can spraying has never been successful. Every time I put the clear gel coat on, it makes the paint look dull. Possibly the quality gel coat, or wrong temperature or being outside, or all three of those things?

It's most certainly a Mk3, easy to tell by the lack of fog lights at the front, they're encompassed within the main lighting cluster on this Mk. This car's a real " no no " methinks. there are some faults but the biggest bugbear could be the non-original paint work on most of the car. Unless it has been resprayed to exacting Lexus ( or better ) standards then it's not going to last the course !! And the price, it's possibly a bit " dopey " !! Malc Wow! you've a sharp eye. Drivers door and passenger door do look different colour. Anywhere else? Don't know how I'm going to match Club expectation if I buy a new front drivers side wing. Should I just remove the rust and tart it up? Save me best part of £600 I imagine.

Sounds a sad case - the exception really. This ebay item- is it a Mk2 I thought Mk2 has the crease along the wing and therefore its a Mk 3, but confess I've never studied the evolution. Do think that taking away the crease was retrograde to the cars style, but beauty as they say....... Looks like a nice car for someone with loads a dosh. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS400-4-0-ltr-MK2-Show-winner-in-excellent-condition-/191676950477?hash=item2ca0d627cd

Be great if it is just the O ring. Just bought five for £2.97 from 100% pos supplier to MOD etc. Sales blurb seems convincing Viton O Rings - 75 Shore Viton also referred to as FKM has a low compression set and have high temperature and chemical resistance. Viton O Rings The terms FPM, FKM and Viton® very often cause confusion and lead to incorrect interpretations. All of these designations actually stand for one single base material:fluoro rubber. Temperature Range -20°C up to +200°C (avoid prolonged use at higher extremes)

I'm hoping its the "O" ring and also that I can get a socket into a hole in the pulley to undo the third bolt without the need to remove the pulley wheel and Serpentine belt. Sadly, I can't see any real leak from below the tri plate and so further down seems most likely. Impossible to see with LED Torch under car - needed decent lamp. Tried to film when it was on the Ramp but not enough light. Two 6 ton and an additional two Jacks at point to change a wheel, should satisfy my nervous disposition enough to poke my head under the Engine bay. Foolishly I askled the guy to fix back the under cover - my brain must hav been telling me "Don't go there" Doh! I have lots of "o"rings but if you have the size I'd rather buy a pack of ten from this seller who I've used before rather than find I've put a "Chinese" last five minutes" O ring on! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/METRIC-NITRILE-RUBBER-O-RINGS-1MM

Is it likely to make a difference to the way your wife drives or is it a safety concern? Has it been proven that five rib tread is better than four? You expected a bargain priced product but may not get what you thought to be one. I can understand your frustration but end of the day will it make a lot of difference? Paying £100 to return them and then not being credited is possibly a risk too far. No guarantee with pay by debit card just loads of sleepless nights if you try to pursue them in Germany or via the UK Court. I hope you are pleasantly surprised when delivery takes place. I've crossed my fingers.
