  1. ps to last message - there is a vootube video of the UCA being replaced on a Lexus if you want to see work involved. Yes they do take a few days/week to come back as to stock availability. You pay or you don't get! pay via Royal Mail - advance notice via Post.
  2. The two I purchased from amayana for my year car - a 48770-50010 and a 48790-50010 were priced at £336.29 and were genuine Totoya Motor Company according to the labels. Add the £95.48 for duty. How quickly I can't be sure. I paid by paypal on the 12th February and the Customs duty invoice is dated 23rd February. Daresay if you needed one v urgently and they are the same reference I could part with the one you need at cost price. Need to PM me.
  3. I bought both sides rear UCA's from Amayana and have managed to put out of my mind exactly what the price of each was. I do however see that the addiitonal tax and import duty etc., came to £95.48. The invoice mentions cost 23853 each so if you want to convert Yen to Sterling. My memory tlells me it was more than £133 more likely £230 each. Not had them fitted as not an advisory - yet! Also have two rear springs to replace some time. 2016 expnditure already taken care of.
  4. Would a 91 have the chequered grill as per the 89? Mk1 or Mk2 by 91? OK pehaps later grill fits?

  6. I was being diplomatic. It seemed to coincide with a new member who has provided little or no member info. bombarding the site with youtube clips in their first thread. Welcome of course to all new members, though I don't know that the choice of pseudonym is tasteful, recognising the ridiculous one I somehow on the spur of the moment, chose (and seem to have to live with) could be regarded as equally nauseating.
  7. When I had a download of emails a couple of hours ago, AVG put up a notice that several threats had been quarantined (or something). I think I know to what that may refer - but maybe not? say no more
  8. My understanding is that you have to bed in new discs and brakes gradually. Were you tempted to try extreme stopping as soon as you had fitted them just to test the impact of your hard work? 200 miles before rigorous testing may be adviseable. I'm no expert.
  9. Yes Steve - seats move back and forth with manual adjustment switches. Must be a fuse somewhere? Not seen it listed in the cover for the fuesebox under the bonnet. The Dome looked OK but I did'nt take it out. Would the Sunroof work off the Dome fuse? If so I'll try it tomorrow. Also may disconnect the battery and re-connect after twenty minutes. Not sure if this could have something to do with it. Battery has been disconnnected a few times recently when Power steering Pump "O" ring replaced and throttle body cleaned. Can't exactly recall when stopped working .
  10. Chris, North of the Border - "a day out" I don't think I said "next to" so not sure you are referring to you own map knowledge? No matter.
  11. Worked until a few weeks ago. Checked fuses under bonnet and look OK. Anyone know which fuse under the drivers side front applies, if any? Not keen on twisting my knackered spine under there if no point. Did try to remove cover last year to chck cig lighter fuse but couldn't get it to shift. Unless its ECU-B I can't see a relevant fuse. Steering column retracts OK Any clues?
  12. "I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures. Might be tempted to go see it in the flesh :) (not buy!! 2 is enough)" oOo I'd have to tke the wife with me to be certain of that! Not too far from you so will be an interesting day out? Is such low mileage a plus, however?
  13. No photos - could it be a teenage wind up? - under a month membership of Gumtree. Who today is unable to take a few photo's and download them? Why would anyone advertise a car without photo's? Not negotiable - not interested! go away and take some photo's as no one is travelling to a destination for an unseen vehicle especially at a ridiculous price. BTW Has Viv Westwoods car been sold yet - looks like the S*x pistols performed a concert in it!
  14. Perhaps an easy Q. having seen a Wing replacement which frankly is not much better than the one I have with bubbbling - and having read the above exhaustive explanation for wing removal - how does the plastic trim come off the wheel arch? Might as well work on existing wing in the circumstances and avoid taking off. I've seen a photo of the rear which suggests welded on clips with a round part? Thanks Stuart
  15. I carry one around in the boot just in case I get caught out abroad.- also replacement Serpentine Belt.
  16. Back from ten days on the Med (25 to 35 degrees) and really fearing having a flat Battery at Stansted, but it was OK - Yippee. Mind you not too happy when having pre-booked parking at Long Stay, inserted the ticket in the barrier it said we owe £228.50. No way! though we might have been five minutes out of the time zone owing to the rubbish slow e-passport checking system and missing a Bus to the Car Park. With much protesting over the intercom the lovely lady opened the barrier and we were away. (One days rate I might, just might, have accepted but eleven days! ) Good to drive the old Jalopy again and beats the Opel Meriva with some sort of electric handbrake which frankly just don't see the point of and almost had me stranded on the incline down out of the Car Hire park where someone had broken down two cars in front. Didn't have clue how I could reverse as sign on the dial said put foot on handrake to release. Needed a third leg - but no - apparantly it self releases when reversing. Was I going to risk rolling into the Mini in front of me - no way!
  17. but derrrrr, doesn't that mean your sidelights light up orange? which is surely not legal? You can get clear sidelights fromthe States - look on t'baydotcom
  18. Looking forward to seeing "lordturns" photo's of rust and any welding work done to compensate. Off to south of France mid week so may not see until my return. Not driving down as too far for me to cope with, as I just don't sleep in strange beds for a mid travel break.. Don't ask me why, I think the brain just refuses to shut off until 9.00am in the morning! Its all this wonderful News we are seeing on TV. If you have this good old English weather for all of next week and beyond I'll be thinking of you (not! - as the current vogue in pointless expressions, goes!) Whatever happened to the Indian Summer this year? I'll settle for early October please.
  19. ....until the motor fails....... Or they corrode from the inside, or the double glazing goes cloudy............hmmm, maybe I'll just make sure mine are properly shut. Rain sensitive wipers, self closing doors, automatic lights.............answers to questions that nobody asked imo, not to mention unreliable and costly to fix. You can keep the rain sensing W/W's and the automatic lights but self closing doors - yes please. Never had a problem on my S320 (18 yrs young) and no cloudy D/Glazing. Mind you the windscreen and the rear window had bad lamination at the bottom. Windscreen got replaced during my six years but not rear screen. Just had to put black insulation tape along bottom and part of the sides of glass to hide from MOT inspector. Great not to see any clouding on the Lexus - another plus! - and its quieter than the double glazed Merc IMO. But what if,,,d/glazed, soft closure LS400 Mk 2 - (oh and electrical folding mirrors) would have totally destroyed Mercedes sales.
  20. Mine Gott! - looked at first three minutes of part 1. Too painful to watch more. Thats one patient Man. Mention of older Cars - as i recall Sills were always a fail. Sixties Cars like the VoHall were total rust buckets. Velox and Viva. I think it must have been the main reason for their being condemned to the dump. People did get welding done as well as packing with "pudding" as I recall someone saying about a RR just under the windscreen.
  21. I've got an AA charger that I no longer trust. Shows green light and then when removed for five mins shows half charge. Motorcycle not Car battery. Whats to be believed - half charge me thinks and confirmed with multi meter that suggests past its sell by date. Used for tyre pump. Ps Malc - did I read INEXPENSIVE ?
  22. Hope nobody objects? but thought the question I asked on the Lexus Lad thread might get more of a viewing if a more appropriate seperate thread - so copy and pasted. Malc please copy you interesting response. Quote That gold LS400 [M13BOS] was my car for fifteen years until recently. I considered the car at the end of its life because of rust, particularly underneath around the rear sub frame. Bubbles also starting to come through on the rear wings and sills. If not for the corrosion it would have remained in the family as it was one of the finest pieces of engineering I have ever experienced. Now involved with extensive research on rust proofing [ok, reducing] the 2004 LS430 which takes its place. Unquote It does beg the question how much would it have cost to have a welding job done? We seem to pay hundreds for OEM parts with virtually only a flinch, and yet someone with good welding skills, sheet metal and strengthening bar just doesn't seem to light our fire or come into the equation. I've got simiilar rust issues on my car as I did have a good look recently. Whats the downside of having welding done? Is it the time factor, removing carpets too much of a fag, cost or what? If these cars are going to be around a long long time then owners will have to consider such work, surely? Anyone had any welding done -put up your digit!
