  1. Amen to that TP. 🙏🏼 Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  2. The only thing I'd chip in as maybe price risk or time risk to sell is that MB do a lot of finance around the base models ( I mean engine size not trim) on E class including some stonking lease deals. At £25k price it's a big layout vrs one of these deals. You could get stuck between the two. Hope that makes sense. If you decide to go with it...... Good luck & hope it goes well. 3. +1 for sticky status... Most other forums I use have this and it's then easy to point an enquirer to it and then invite them to post if any specifics required. Can we add squeaky seats & DMF for manual please. Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  4. If he's not trade... The only ligit reason for changing wether VAT was applicable to the sale if owned by a business was that he did not realise until he had advertised the vehicle at a price he would have had to pay VAT on the sale as the vehicle was qualifying due to the business being VAT registered and having claimed the VAT back on the original purchase. Grasping at straws here to try explain his behaviour......does not explain all the other stuff though. Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  5. You're well clear of that deal! Don't beat yourself up over the whats and why fors. Somethings not right & you have done the sensible checks. Well done....& move on. There are so many stories of bailiffs etc turning up at legitimate folks houses taking vehicles with outstanding HPI / log book loans etc.... And the poor souls have not a leg to stand on because the vehicle was not the sellers to sell..... Still technically owned by the finance company. Your dealer will be aware and maybe intended to settle the outstanding loan with your hard earned dosh out of his margin..... But if they hadn't or you had God forbid gotten into a write off situation.... Then all kinds of sh*t then ensues. Well out of it. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  6. Good to hear your safe and sound. Looks like could have been a really nasty one without your evasive action. Good luck on the search. Out of interest .... Did you get full airbag deployment, front, knee & sides? V66
  7. Had a follow up call this morning asking if everything was ok. Speak as I find.... I'm way out of warranty and not part of any service plan.... So definitely nothing invested in me as a regular customer. Guess all dealers are not equal. I drive 120 miles ( not for maintenance ) to a BMW Mini dealer when I change my other halves Cooper S every couple of years. Better deal, better service, more professional & I have a local Bmw dealer 5 miles away. I think even on a recall with older vehicles the brand should be pulling out all the stops. Every penny of recall is money the dealers are pulling out of Lexus UK HQ.... Probably even the courtesy car daily tariff. So it's all business and a chance for customer retention and affirmation. I've also had a letter from the Lexus sales guys asking if me and a +1 would like to go to a (self) drive day at a flash hotel in the midlands to try a couple of the new models for ourselves...plus a bit of hospitality. & they don't know we spent £30k with BMW two weeks ago. We all know it's a sales pitch.... But if Lexus wants to compete in Europe & globally with the German stuff etc. It's the kind of marketing/event that supports that intension..... You don't have to be too long in the tooth to know you should never judge a book by its cover! 😇 V66 Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  8. Took mine in for safety recall today, fuel pressure sensor gasket change. Called the evening before to check all ok and let me know car would be waiting for me. Dropped it in just before 9 am. Quick chat with service....signed courtesy car stuff. Courtesy car (300h) driven around to where mine was parked for me to jump in. Called around 2.30pm saying all done..... Including the service Items I asked them to complete. Mentioned a couple of small jobs & one brakes issue they thought was a safety issue. Offered to order parts and complete if I wished them to. Emailed and text link to underside video of visual safety check. Car vacuumed and washed, tyres blacked. Paper work completed ready to sign. Very slick and courteous as I would expect. 9. Definitely worth asking about a price if you have any service or updating/upgrading requirements. Got a better than advertised tariff price for a couple of bits needed doing as they will already have it for four hours. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  10. Great photos John. I was reminded of our trip the other day when I saw one of the Sunday papers showing pictures of white sandy beaches..... Not the Caribbean ... But the north coast of Scotland. We started in Inverness and did the full loop around...Stunning stuff. We took the ferry out from Oban to a couple of the islands also. Those empty pristine beaches and the reminder that great tracks of the UK are still sparsely populated were probably the two things I took away from that trip. Always surprised when chatting to people how many have never been to Northern Ireland, Scottish highlands, Isle of Man, Northumbrian coast etc...... Met a lady last year who at 72 had never been to Cornwall!. Missing out on some stunning scenery & great hospitality. V66 Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  11. Good to understand ..... I first stumbled across this as I could not understand why a 5-30w oil could be branded up Vauxhall/ Ford or VAG engine specific??? Then noticed the Lettering after the viscosity..... V66 Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  12. No claims to being an expert on this subject matter .... Bit of background that may help on why possibly all 5-30w are not created equal.... http://www.jeeptrip.co.il/upload/File972259.pdf V66 Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  13. Looks a beaut TP.. Enjoy!!!! V66 Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  14. Thanks Mike..... I checked the handbook and position 8 is a white 25amp ..... I also swapped it over with another 25 ( steering lock I think it was) this afternoon, no change. No dumb questions... as I'm already scratching my head. 55 plate is250SE manual - front windscreen with wiper de-ice filaments. Activated by switch ...lower right hand side switches.....right of steering wheel - switch lights up orange when activated and if I remember correctly stays on for a set time. The switch light seems a bit of a red herring as the light comes on even when the fuse is removed????....... Does that seem correct???? Weather stopped play later this pm.....a bit wild out there! 15. Thanks .... I see what you mean. We put an interior light bulb in line between the male connector and female screen connector and got it to light up..... Which I guess means there is a circuit, but as you say not telling us what consumption. Must be a reason it has a 25amp fuse etc. I thought also this morning if may be one of those voltage detector pens would work on the glass to at least show current across all the elements?? Will have to borrow/buy some kit and start trying to eliminate. A(glass) are suggesting using a Lexus screen now..... guess that will solve it if it's not electrical. Out of interest I asked them what the cost of a Lexus screen was outside of insurance .... £780! ....WOW!..... £50 discount if ordered on the day.. LOL. Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  16. Evening all, Thought I'd share this and see if anyone has any thoughts... Large chip in the windscreen suffered after travelling on one of the few evenings when the roads had been gritted. Fortunately it was a couple of days after my MOT ( sailed through by the way) so no panic to get it fixed even though it was a pretty big chip low on near side of the screen. I did wonder if it was a bit too large for a repair.......but before that option was investigated in a matter of a couple of days the crack started to appear and spread. Called my insurance company......directed to A(glass) as expected and paid my excess. I seem to be in a wiper de-ice windscreen groundhog situation. I have now had two screens fitted, neither of which show any kind of tangible effect when the wiper de-ice button is on. Even in the absence of frost if I spray a fine mist of water on the door mirrors or rear screen I can see & feel the effect of the elements heating up. I've tried repeated cycles to attempt to get the area as warm as possible...... Nothing. The replacement screen is not a Lexus branded, but I have seen the elements in the screen and the three foil/wire connections on both of the screens fitted. Both replacements up to now have been from the same glass batch. The power and fuse (white 25amp) checked to the screen de-ice have been checked.....all ok. Am I / A(glass) missing something?? ....... Can two screens both be faulty?? Do we know from the forum that this is an issue ?..... I've done some searches but cannot find anything specific. Thoughts / ideas appreciated. V66 Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  17. Good to hear your ok and your car will be back with you soon. Mate of mine (Frank) popped into see me the other day .... Fizzing. He had just been trying renewing his car insurance..... (F) Why has premium gone up so much? (Ins Comp) You've had an accident in the last 12 months... (F) That's correct but it was not my fault .... Other party was 100% to blame and they paid for everything. (Ins Comp) Sorry, we still rate you as a higher risk. (F) WTF ..... hang on I've got protected no claims.... Over 10 years worth. (Ins Comp) that's right sir we've taken that off..... But your still a higher risk. By the way sir can we just confirm the status of your license while your on. (F) it's still clean .... No points. (Ins comp) have you been on a speed awareness course on the last 12 months? (F) Yes... I was done on a camera and elected for the course. (Ins Comp) We class you as a higher risk there also ..... I'll just add that on. (F) I give up .... Just email me the quote and I'll think about it. Of course he then had to add on the new higher taxation %. Which resulted in a almost doubling his previous years premium. V66 Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  18. Vlad ..... I can recommend a good body repair and paint shop in Cov area if needed to. I'm Cv12. I've had a few jobs done there over the years with different makes and always top class. Message me if it could be of any use. V66 Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  19. Just for the record .... My manual box has snow mode. Seems to numb the power if a bit heavy footed. 0-60 in manual .... Floor it in first ..... Take it as close to cut out as you dare.... Repeat process for each gear till hit 60....lol V66 Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  20. John - interesting and factual as always....... Thanks for taking the time to put that post together. While I would love to believe that premium octane petrol gives me more efficient burn for better acceleration etc......I suspect from a lay mans point of view that it's the detergent I'm investing in for long term engine protection. Just as an aside... Having driven many thousands of miles across the US you have to understand the mentality and culture of our cousins over the pond towards gasoline..... Politically there will only be small levers being pulled no matter what the latest environmental global agreement has been signed. I remember the street protests outside forecourts when it went over $2 a gallon..... About a quid back then! You only have to see the huge billboards on the side of the highways getting all excited about 32mpg highway mileage in a latest model...... Probably a sore point over here at the moment ;) (VW etc) V66 Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  21. I guess it depends on your budget. I looked into this a little while ago for my IS, the full detachable towbar, electrics and and a reasonable 3 bike ball mounted carrier was north of £800. My guess from having a chat with a witter fitting guy was that when the swan neck was detached you would see a small part of the fitting underneath the bumper. He did confirm that their solution did not require any cutting in any shape or form. The ball mounted carriers seem to be so much easier to load up, & reduce the worry factor of whistling roof bars and wobbly rear mounted carriers. Saying that though.....I do like the saris bones rear mounted carriers though as they look a bit more stylish!..... Even if you had to use a board on the back. I do know a couple of people that have been pulled for lack of lights showing by the old bill. So as I said at the top...... Probably down to budget. If you have got the dollar...... Ball mounted is easiest. V66 Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  22. I managed to get a set off eBay ( private seller) for £45 (black) and I believe they are OEM as they are good quality, have the Lexus logo embossed into them, plain cellophane wrapper with just a parts code sticker. They have proved themselves in wet, holiday sandy conditions many times over. Carpets good as new underneath. They do move around about as not anchored but not too bad, quick reposition after a good scrub up normally does the trick. Never seen these in beige tho.... ? Black mats in beige trim? Maybe ? 23. TP, I can tell your frustrated by this situation, but when that's past, don't return the ticket to sender just do the popla appeal at least, as it buys time to harangue your developer about the issue. Trust me unless your developer calls the dogs off (ethicalparking) reasonably sharpish......it will get pursued and if it goes proper legal (as only pseudo at the moment) you will get further pain later you cannot control if you have not taken every formal opportunity to appeal and state your case. I guarantee then your frustrations will definitely return at that point. As mentioned before do some photos (maybe of your IS at acute angles trying to access the space) and measurements etc. Hope helps V66 Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
  24. TP can I just advise that you complete the popla process and maybe have a look at this. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/parking-ticket-appeals The forum is also excellent and they guided me through a successful appeal. Hope you can gain some satisfaction on your original parking bay issue. Photos and video are really powerful ways of making the lack of manoeuvrability point. V66 Sent from my iPad using Lexus OC
