  1. Don't know about that but knowing all motor manufacturers like to get their pound of flesh, probably not.
  2. I like the HUD and now never look at the speedo, and you can change the units to KPH for France etc. It also gives you directions from the satnav. I average 30 mpg but on one long run following friends towing managed 38. The LED headlight take a bit of getting used to as there is no fuzzy edge to the pattern it just draws a line on the road. On my car you can't adjust the height of the beam from the dash (no button). A replacement LED headlight unit is about a grand from Lexus.
  3. All Lexus/Toyota hybrids don't have a rev counter, they have a power display in its place as you can be powering the car just from the traction battery and the ICE will not be running.
  4. The only way to tell if the engine is not running is to have the power flow diagram on in the small LCD display in the centre of the instrument cluster or on the main screen. It is a bit annoying as you can't hear the engine unless it's working hard.
  5. You're out of luck there, no DVD in the boot, my 2011 450h doesn't have a DVD based system and only a dealer can update it. This was done by the previous owner at a cost of about £150. I think it's done via the USB input.
  6. Not quite true, there are in fact two motor generators at the front of the car, a larger one drives the wheels and is permanently engaged and a smaller one which is used to start he Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and mix the power between the ICE and the Motor connected to the front wheels. So when the "Brain" calls for the ICE to start the second motor turns to start the ICE and the reaction of the ICE starting is transferred to the wheels but because it is in Park they can not turn so play in the transmission is taken up and this feels like a jerk. Even our Yaris HSD does this.
  7. I just use Windows 10 software to burn MP3 CDs but make sure you burn it so that a CD/DVD can play it NOT like a USB Drive. Worked every time for me on my old 400h.
  8. Not into the majority of cities that will ban ICE cars in the future.
  9. Toyota/Lexus have so for been way ahead of the rest of the bunch but lately IMO have dropped the ball. They could have easily brought out PHEV versions of all their cars not just the Prius, which proved they could do it. They will get left behind. They are behind, even Ford get it with the new Mustang Mach-e.
  10. I don't think there are any sensors etc. for a rear end collision, just front and side impact sensors.
  11. My 61 450h have these flaps to fully cover the rear area also.
  12. Not necessarily silly but the regen braking on the 450h is much more pronounced than the 400h as more regen is used and the hydraulics don't cut in as soon. I had an 08 400h before so as Herbie said a comparison is not relevant, just try to adapt your driving to slow down a bit sooner, you'll soon get into it being the norm. If you have to stop quickly though it will.
  13. I had a towbar fitted in July which needed the battery disconnecting and when all the work was done and the battery was reconnected I didn't need to reset anything, all worked as before, so perhaps there is another fault somewhere.
  14. If the car is a hybrid then the A/C comp is also electric.
  15. The only thing is the maps are out of date even if you upgrade to the latest for your car, and they are prohibitively expensive too. My map was upgraded to the 17/18 version by the previous owner at its service and it cost him £175 for Lexus to do it. Google maps on a phone or tablet is free and up to date all the time.
  16. We also have a 68 plate Yaris and the satnav in that although not as good as Google maps or Waze etc is a giant leap from my 2011 RX.
  17. By safe I hope you mean in a shielded container well away from an outside wall to prevent relay type thefts.
  18. There are no problems carrying both the card and the fob. I keep the card in my wallet all the time and the fob in my pocket so that I can open the boot remotely if required.
  19. I use these guys https://workshop-manuals.com/ it's full of add's but I don't need it a lot.
  20. If you lift your foot off the accelerator the the car will coast with only light retardation. To get more regen braking start lightly pressing the brake pedal and you will see the power dial go fully negative putting about 30 kW into the battery. Pressing harder will apply the mechanical brakes, I try and judge the distance to stop so that I can come to a halt with minimal mechanical braking and get the most regen.
  21. I had a 400h for 5 years and towed a Bailey Senator twin axle at 1700kg with no problems, except for the 18 to the gallon. I now have a 450h which is a little lest thirsty, 22 mpg towing and I've even averaged 38 mpg on a long run from home to Dover. Your caravan is about the same weight at MRO 1534kg and MTPLM of 1740kg, within the 2000kg max towing capacity.
  22. When my kit was fitted to the 450h, only one wire had to be found and cut to splice in the bypass for the fog lights. The electronics unit knows when the trailer or caravan is plugged in and prevents the car rear fog lights from lighting whilst towing. The rest of the wiring was plug and play, down in the bottom of the boot on the passenger side there is a muti-pin connector that is unplugged and then connected to the new towing harness. This plug and socket is behind the Sub Woofer if you have one so that will need to be removed.
  23. I think it was for the reversing lights, as they got to the tailgate. On the 400h the battery is in the front so I ran wires in a plastic conduit to the rear under the car. I didn't use the dedicated wiring kit but the generic one and it worked fine.
