  1. I don't understand one thing... people go through the effort of getting a premium car and then end up with a diesel.... I read somewhere that diesel cars begin to return the investement after more than 5-7 yesr of owning it... but most people change their car by then...And if I think of it, dpf egr issues due to short run come more expensive under service expense... I understand in few years from now dpf egr issue will be no more as they will undergo a design change but... why do people end up with diesel... how do they give up on refinement... diesel is so noisey... Just want to understand why would I consider a luxury car with diesel instead of petrol or a banger with diesel engine which will be more economical. Anyway, most people I meet say 'oh when I saw the car I fell in love with it' so that answers my question I guess.
  2. Was this its first coolant change ? So it does seem toyota coolant or any 5 year coolant can make it to 10 years.... in europe only due to low temp. I had asked this before, is there any relation to water pump and coolant change ? I would have assumed coolant provides cooling, rust protection and lubrication to pump and engine... I wouldn't worry if you got 80% drain. More than enough.
  3. in UK, average person changes car in 3 years. In 7 years in uk, every person has changed their car. I read this somehere and thats the reason second hand cars are everywhere in uk. Explains why they loose their value. Long time ago manuals were considered superior to auto because no one could fix it. Now cars are disposable. No one fixes anything and a 10 year old car is binned. In other countries one sees 20 year old car all rusted but going from a to b.
  4. true. but after driven german brand for a while I think is250 is right for its own price. its too noisey, gutless as compared. thats my view for it.
  5. For uk and europe, stick to audi, bmw and merc. DIESEL not petrol. There will be buyers lined up. Lexus is just not for europe. And to be honest, they really don't come close to Merc. As for manual vs auto, anyone who has driven auto will never want to go to manual. ... Unless they are going on track. ... well maybe a few would but not all.
  6. might well be that. Lexus won't sell or be able to sell older version anymore. It's like that 100 pound shirt from tk maxx for a 10er because nobody wants it.
  7. Copy protected DVDs can be copied. Know it becuase copy protected reovery disk for PC can be copied. But yeah, it might fall in grey area.
  8. Guys I didn't see any mpg or performance difference between both these super fuels after 4 fills of tank of each of them. 34mpg tops with full daily highway drive. 24-28 mix driving. I know many things can influence the conclusion but thought it won-t hurt to share the experience. But one thing for myself is certain, I cannot cross 34mpg.
  9. Nice work dough. Would never question your work but have a question... So you didnt paint the full bumper? How did that blend in?
  10. Yes that's the one. Castrol 5w30 A5 Magnetic. And if you check later models they take very different oil. Just shows you doesn't it. Bet many people here didn't had a clue and might have used wrong oil by just putting in any known brand 05w30. . Don't blame them. Average mechanic doesn't usually know this important info. For few folk here... if you go to tesco or halfords, look on the shelf. You will find a range of Castrol Magnetic 05w30. Notice the marking A5 or C2 or C3 on it. Ever pondered why they sell it under different labels? ... :)
  11. Vintage posted some nice info. But its only about C1 C2 and C3. It elebrorated 2 key points. 1. C1 2 3 is low saps. 2. Its meant for vars with dpf. Hint: C3 is more viscous than A5. So if you buy 05W30 C3 it is not equal to 05w30 A5. And A5 is for better fuel economy.
  12. Read the label guys. Understand what A1/A3/A5/C2/C3/B1/B2 is. Or, go to Castrol Website. Put in your car reg and it will tell you extactly what you need. Cars owners manual is incomplete.
  13. There is more than that to oil. Look for specs and "viscosity" of oil 05w30 or 0w30 is not enough info. Lexus is250 takes Castrol 05w30 A5. Put that in a car that is meant to take Castrol 05W30 C3 and you will see oil burning and probable damage.
  14. sounds drastic. Is it something DIY? Still hoping its my driving style and I need to acclerate slower... Will compare it with another auto transmission car...
  15. about 47k. It is like, the acclerator paddle is very sensitive. Feels more like the car is in advance timing in the first gear if it makes sense... I would like to compare it to another lexus is250. Or take it to lexus...
  16. I have noticed from day one that one has to be very gentle when starting the car from still position in first gear on auto transmission. Else it jumps and anything on the seat moves or falls off. Is this normal?
  17. If you get a supercharger, how do you increase fuel? With added air there might be slight increase of petrol by ecu to compensate but if there is not a substantial petrol injection... nothing will happen.
  18. http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&item=172128636831&category=133193&pm=1&ds=0&t=1459584591433 anyone fell for this and how did it work out ?
  19. Wont work. Thats the conclusion. Even you cant swap sat nav between different years.
