  1. Yeah great night. What we lacked in numbers we made up for in volume. I didn't realise you had to be so small to get in those Honda's! Yes we got stuffed but with zero visibility it just proved that Lexus drivers are more careful - got nothing to do with a kart wheezing up hill with 18 stone on board - afterall my LS doesn't complain. PS - who owns the Honda I found in my boot the next morning!
  2. No offense taken you young whipper snapper. It is true that most LS owners are more mature but low mileage cars are less common. That said though most will have been serviced exactly by the book and repaired regardless of cost. You don't run a car like an LS an put up with something wrong. I was talking to my dealer last week about the extended warranties and they say virtually nobody takes it out on LS's because they never go wrong.
  3. I run a 1998 LS400 and reset my consumption every month. Some months my average is over 26 and the worst is about 23. Round town is the killer. On a run I can get close to 30.
  4. Quick update. we need more drinking time! Ferry at 7 am on Saturday - Sea France crossing £107.(Booked via Expedia.co.uk) Returning Sunday 4pm Crossing. Hotel currently trying for Saturday Night at Dizy (first choice was full) Chemin "les Bas Jardin" Any one else on for the trip. A quick weekend away and plenty of Champers to try.
  5. The perfect christmas present - who's going to buy them for me. In the DVLA Classic Collection Christmas Auction (10-11 December) L3XUS (reserve £3,000) and LEX5 (reserve £2,700) are up for sale. I expect to see them at the next meet in the new year - unless of course you do want to give me a present in which case I'll see them earlier.
  6. If you all want the last laugh it needs one of you with a really quick IS (or is that an oxymoron) to get them to put it round their test track.
  7. The Euro is not the problem but EMU - It does not stand for European Monetary Union but Economic & Monetary Union. We would end ip paying for the pensions in Germany France & Italy which are so generous it looks like the pensions our polititions voted themselves as chicken feed.
  8. Premium £ 540 Excess £ 150 No Claims Bonus % Maximum plus protected plus legal fees ins. Age 45 What insurance company (name) NFU Car is 1998 LS400 Mk4 no modifications Cover is Husband & Wife with full business use renewal is beginning of February.
  9. I used to get it but have not received the latest one. Also used to get the Lexus supported function invite such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Summer Ball - which I wanted to go to but clashed with a big charity bash. I used to like it. So who do I nag to get on the mailing list again. Mature LS400 driver!
  10. I think it's just the rest of the car is so quiet. The dunlops are specific for the car and have a good noise level. I suspect others will be noisier but have no experience. The important thing would be to look at the tread type you will want a linear cut not a block tread.
  11. Mines due at the end of the month. £1230 for 2 years on my LS I reckon it's a bargain if something goes wrong and damned expensive if nothing does On the basis that I've had a fair bit done under the original warranty - mostly electrics I think I'm going for it (one of the repairs on mine was £5K) - now if there was a gold members discount
  12. Presuming the smell is not exhaust gases -which is unlikely unless you've got both an exhauast problem and a leak into the apssenger compartment I would think the first port of call would be the air con. I would suggest you get the gas in that checked for pressure.
  13. I've got a 98 LS400 and would love a 430 I think it's a huge improvement on the old one and the 400 is great. I just can not bring myself to part with the necessary loot.
  14. No got this open, the football open and the database and Lotus notes, just keep flicking between them. Trying to write telephone interviews for 14 different jobs at the mo. Just post them all here. Plenty of people looking
  15. Well at least while you're looking at this you're not working!
  16. With 3 services a year I get back the fee several times over - and the 63,000 one's looming fast!
  17. Most of the threads seem to be about the dashboard lights. It sounds as if the LCD have broken down and I suspect replacement is the only answer.
  18. Well one of the LS's was mine and there was one other booked to attend (Alan Andrews?) so 100% attendence from the LS drivers! It was a problem for a meet virgin like myself that there was no meeting point or focus for people to get together - obviously the weather was a problem. I did meet Rod, good to meet you, and one Toyota member. Gaydon was good though and you will see me again. I know there were a gang standing in the car park at the start, then in against the building, - it must have been hard for those who arrived later when everyone had dispersed and I know I spoke fleetingly to someone in the Entrance hall who was asking for where the Lexus Meeting Room was. I would have talked more but was whisked away by the Off Road ride man who had just arrived. Let's put it down to the weather - great to see the cars though if not meet many of the owners. And yes the journey back was awful. I got off at junction 11 and went cross country but it took me an hour and a half to get to junction 11 during which time there was no radio announcement to say what the problem was. I clocked the jam as 6.2 miles from when I was first stationary to junction 11. Got home to a power cut so had to go out for dinner - real shame!
  19. How come our meet isn't listed on their site as one of their events?
  20. I'll be there but first I've got to put the the tack room door back on, turn the sheeps hay feeders the right way up and retrieve my daughters trampoline that's now 2 fields away.
  21. Here's a real chance for one you mad idiots out there. The RAF Falcons have offered a Charity my wife does a lot for a tandem parachute jump complete with video of it. Obviously these can be purchased with normal parachute groups but with the RAF Falcons not usually. It's up for bids to the highest offer so any takers out there. Starting bid is £300.
  22. Can we have a dirtiest Lexus competiition. Had to go and visit a client yesterday after noon who's business is based at the far end of an aggregates quarry. The Lexus is now as dirty if not dirtier than the Landrover I keep for off roading! With the weather as it is it won't be getting much of a clean either. :duh: :duh: :duh:
