  1. I think it looks good with the colour of your car... It doesn't stick out too much or make a fuss of itself. Also, faultless professional install as usual - you really are a true craftsman!
  2. I'm currently seeing 31.8 out of a tank with a daily commute of 18 miles each way, which is a mix of motorway and urban roads. I know I can get much better; but my big, fat lead foot can't resist the temptation
  3. Yep, both of mine have done this. Consequence of a gearbox trying to creep forward and the brakes trying to prevent it. Something's got to give
  4. My first step would be to get some good quality halogen bulbs like Osram nightbreakers and see how you find them. If you really are still struggling, then start looking at alternative options. I don't think LED 'upgrade' kits for less than 25 quid are going to cut the mustard to be honest. Let us know how you get on!
  5. At first glance, it looked to me like a powerful air rifle or pistol. Something with a CO2 cartridge and a spherical projectile could do that sort of damage, but not necessarily go through the metal.
  6. Understated look and an unusual colour choice. I would say a job well done.
  7. German ebay for a pretty reasonable price compared to the Lexus main dealer cost.
  8. I can only speak from the very positive experience I've had with the Lexus extended warranty. I had an issue with a rattly door speaker (blown) and a non-folding passenger door mirror. These were all replaced with no questions asked, with the usual exemplary Lexus level of service.
  9. What Bruce said. Mine got written off and I bought another one immediately. It was a complete no brainer.
  10. I have the same noise, and lubricating the door seal works wonders. It needs to be done every 6 weeks or so to keep it from coming back, but it does at least prevent the doors from freezing shut when it gets icy.
  11. Sounds like a great result. It's easy to see why people get hooked on the whole Lexus experience when the service is as good as I and many others have experienced . I sure am. I'm with Big Rat though - I still try to eat them out of their biscuit supply whenever I'm there. It'd be rude not to!
  12. I've had nothing but exemplary service from Lexus when having servicing done. Halfords on the other hand managed to put a headlight bulb into a Mondeo for me upside down (fitting was free and I couldn't be bothered with skinning my knuckles that day!) - needless to say, I've not been near them since.
  13. As I understand it, the switch turns the TC "off" until it decides that you're driving like a pudding and steps back in for you. To turn the TC truly and fully off so you can drive like a pudding unimpeded requires the dance as described above.
  14. Keep us informed Doog, I can see the IS200t being my next one in a few years' time :)
  15. I had an NX300h as a courtesy car when mine was in for a service a couple of weeks back - I was more than somewhat surprised by how thirsty it was considering it has magical batteries and does the "pull away in eerie silence" thing. Nice car mind. I was particularly fond of the folding rear seats...
  16. As a keen cyclist and also sprayer of cyclists, I both condemn and condone this message :)
  17. Coming to auto dimming mirrors from a car that didn't have them, this was one of my favourite features. I guess I kinda take it for granted now though. You forget how horrible being dazzled by the turd in a Transit that's about 2ft from your rear bumper is.
  18. Ditto. I have the same design wheels as the OP and they look excellent in grey. The detail of them gets lost when they're black in my opinion, but as has been said previously, horses for courses and all that.
  19. I guess one of the most encouraging (depending on your view point I guess!) aspects, is that these issues are not Lexus specific. The Alfa diesel I had led me a merry dance with EGR related tomfoolery, and that's before we start to discuss suspension components forged from the finest Italian cheese! Likewise, my in-law's Skoda Fabia diesel's dash lit up like a Christmas tree and cost them the thick end of £500 following a clogged EGR/DPF. The issue seems to me to be a general lack of education of the motoring public - surely the sales people have a duty to inform the punter of the limitations of diesels when they... no, wait, they're just happy to take your money as the Government says diesels are a-ok! On a related note, on my way home from work I often see a Mondeo TDCi that the owner has added a little tag-line below the TDCi badge that reads "Have you been mis-sold TDI?" Always raises a smile.
  20. The postcode search isn't brilliant as it only allows you to use the first digit of the second half - for example: L12 1 which isn't great for narrowing things down. That said, I use mine all the time and have found it to be pretty good as long as you adjust where it's sending you by having google maps open on your phone at the same time to fine tune. It's vastly preferable to having something stuck on your windscreen though. I second what everyone else has said about reliability etc., it's a cut above most of the German alternatives in my opinion - especially modern Mercedes.
  21. Another handy aspect of using the paddles is descending steep hills. I find that dropping it into third is really good for helping safely descend things like Woodhead Pass. Leaving it in auto, it will just stay in 6th and offer little engine braking.
