  1. You've goto admit though, those tiny small plates on bike do look the business, if I must say so my self Especially the one i had.......it flipped up into the bodywork. :P ....of course, that's the answer to speed cameras, (AND one they deserve!?); have revolving plates!!! I already suggested this on a 'speeding' link here.... Take it one malicious step further? Get the local police chief/mayors number....you get the idea? Just make sure you see the cops well in advance, before you press 'reveal' or whatever...or we may never see you again?
  2. :yack: :yack: :yack: makes you want to do something slightly illegal;. I'd bet that 75%cars-say- will be doing 35 in 30 limit;it's partly how cars are geared, plus how we've all got to drive at a similar speed. But then ....£60 and the resultant 3 points, which ups your insurance (or negates it if you don't tell them!!!) is 'cruel and unusual punishment' in my eyes! I think careful application of sticky tape to your number plate could be the answer. You could change an 'F' to an 'E' quite easily, a '3'to an '8' etc etc. Get the concept? The BIG COMPUTER will either throw a wobbly, or send it to a Mini in Exeter.....Just don't leave it on for ever....keep changing. OR...get a foreign plate...? If people start getting abused in this way too much, as seems to be happening, they will react. I'd guess that the first party to rescind speeding fines or at least ameliorate them will get elected? I hope this goes out anonymously!
  3. :P THAT colour! He should be paying YOU! .You ,if you were patient, could find a lower mileage LS 400 for not much more. As for....'should you' change? YES! Smoother, quiet, potent....anonymous, bland, but supreme quality. All depends on whether you'll take to the squarer look after the curves of the GS.
  4. NO, BUT IF IT WAS A GRAPHITE LS 400 ON BRISTOL PORTWAY; GUY WITH AN AMAZING HAWAIIAN SHIRT, PLAYING SANTANA AND GRINNING WILDLY, WHILE SLIPPING SILENTLY ALONG....WAS PROBABLY ME! :zee:
  5. B) think I saw one on e-bay. Take a browse under Lexus LS400, or just Lexus if you've got all day!
  6. :P My variance on your scheme is that you need to be spraying that WD-40 all over the road behind you when you're doing that 80mph bit....to make the rozzers skid off the road who're chasing you! :winky:
  7. :P See?!! There he goes, ruining his new car already! There's a nice set of Yamaha NS1000s on e-bay, just crying oput to replace your back seat...... (good luck, but drive it a little too!) ;)
  8. Chris, Could I ask you to take some underbonnet shots & email them to me ? I ask as this was done for a mark 2 LS and there may be subtle differences (air filter, ancilliary layout) prolexuk@aol.com Ta Dave :o Sent Ser 3 pics. So.....? (come to Bristol and try one out. Lovely city; failed City of Cuklture.....laid back...oh, and I run the only vegetarian cafe here!
  9. ;) Yes, but what about my series 3 query, re struts? Did you get the pics? I need some chrome under my bonnet! Chris. cskelton@madasafish.com
  10. :P I can just hear it now in my cafe; 'Do you want Pink in your coffee?' Cream (colour) can be nice; do the metal bits Bronze/Brass.....Enjoy your elite car. You've been 'gone' all of 3 minutes...... :winky:
  11. :zee: Sorry Raz! Have no idea! Was on Ch 4 a while ago, and I taped it. Being a child of the sixties, and liking slightly off-the-wall things, it appealed. About a black guy, living in a pigeon loft with the birds, loner/contract killer working for the Mafia, but going by Samurai code of life (apart from boosting GS400s!!!)But you'd have to see it...this sounds TOO wierd! :zee:
  12. :D Can we have an in depth forum on Radar Trap sensors? (unless I've missed it?) Seems a very useful thing, seeing how easy it is to stray, even without being a 'boy racer'! (sed he, ruefully; 3 points/£60 for 43 in a nice empty road...30 limit!)
  13. :P yes but, Mr Rankin, only for you flash lads! Us older types would....have to have black chrome wheels! :zee: Nice to have the power! (Did you ever see the film 'Ghost dog?...where he 'boosts' a GS400?....) Prefer the swish of the LS...just. Chris-Dog!
  14. In twenty years time? No, I'd guess there'll be a lot of electric cars about. I recall in the seventies 'Scientist predict' etc, that oil reserves would run out in about 1995.....so....? But I think that this ever larger engine.BHP etc growth is a sign of lunacy/ mutual heads-up-****s obsession based especially in Germany. (It's mainly Bmw/VW/Audi/Merc, notice?) Where the hell are we going to be ABLE to use any excess power anyway. (And also, who the hell can drive that well anyway? By the time you can afford the price, your reactions have slowed with age anyway-NOT agist! I'm over 50!-or you're a footballer ....The projections on oil may be dubious, but the cars-per-head figure isn't! Perhaps we'll all be on rails like Scalextric? I like the trend towards more STYLE in cars though. Chris' prediction. Bonnets will get more featured/pointy/less rounded. 61 Pontiac etc style. Volvo are going that way; Nissan....Alfa. :winky:
  15. Tricky one! I bought my Series 3 with the idea of keeping it for many years. It's, now, only done 58k miles; full history, new cam belt etc...(Graphite grey, black interior). BUT, I may be tempted by a Ser 4 now. So, yes, if £10k appeared, I think I'd sell. I love owning this car, even though it's an occasional drive, so it won't be long before I'd return! Will be abroad for a few months soon, which is persuading me a little. Start saving anyone?
  16. ;) ...or you could bid for MY Ser 3, which has 60k miles, at £10k. Sorry, if I shouldn't put this in here really. But I may get a ser 4 myself so it's relevant?
  17. If you find a good site with Solenoid info, post the details on here? Helps the engine challenged -and computer challenged- amongst us to get by!
  18. Oh no you don't! (Want one). You could just buy a Zantia Activa, which has no-lean suspension that works! (And the famed Citroen suspension anyway, which, as a fellow LS400 owner, I can vouch for!) The Bose thing involves too much weight and will be prone to computer glitches.... . So; is it YOU wot screetches an LS400 'round bends at excessive speeds? :winky:
  19. Chris, Could I ask you to take some underbonnet shots & email them to me ? I ask as this was done for a mark 2 LS and there may be subtle differences (air filter, ancilliary layout) prolexuk@aol.com Ta Dave Sorry; didn't clock the Ser 1/2 bit! Well, I'll try the pics; but being non digital, camera wise, it'll take a little while. Perhaps I'll go out with printout of your pic and LOOK! (Or I'll just bend something to make it fit!!??) Will try a few measurements too. Or you could just accost a Ser 3 owner in the street and insist on inspecting his underside!! :yack: More soon. cskelton@madasafish.com :)
  20. :D Put me down for one too, please! Don't want to affect the comfort factor of my ser 3, but handling....of course (just in case I stop cruising and have to rush on occasion!) Let me know the arrangements. if and when? Thanks a lot. :zee:
  21. ....or you could be lucky and have a Mark Levinson system? If you're going to strip it out....I'LL HAVE IT!! (Let me know!) Chris Skelton in Bristol.
  22. :P ....So I waz only doing 115, NOT 125 the other day...phew! :zee:
