  1. I've checked and the outside is 100% glass. The Lexus trademark and security etching are acid etched into the surface.
  2. I don't understand how the tints can be other than factory as the heated rear window elements are on the surface of the glass as is the etched finish on the inside of the rear side windows. Wouldn't after market tint be a film applied to the inside of the glass.?
  3. I totally agree that the suspension shouldn't feel stiffer. I wish I could find the build spec as I understood that the car had blind spot detection but not rear cross traffic detection. Well the car definitely has rear cross traffic detection. I also don't understand why iihaz rear factory privacy glass ZS
  4. Latest update. In 5 days 607 miles covered After refuelling my phone app tells me I have achieved an average of 46.7mpg in mixed motorway and b road driving. I have experimented with sport mode and puzzled. My Is stiffened the steering in sports mode. The GS in sport mode does the same but the suspension appears to also get much stiffer. My wife agrees. This shouldn't be the case as surely the luxury version hasn't got adaptive damping
  5. Well my first day with the GS. The first comment I must make is that the build quality seems to be up a level from the IS300h. The car is like new having covered 10000 miles in its first year and surprisingly only 950 miles in the last year. I'm told the rear privacy glass is factory option but haven't seen another car with it fitted. So far very impressed.
  6. Well went to dealer today and apparently the facility is no longer available :(
  7. I would be very careful if you have a Potenza on with the Turanza. They have a different wet weather rating and are a generic model tyre whereas the Turanza is a dedicated Lexus fitment. I was in this row only 2 weeks ago when my insurance company repairers fitted a Potenza with my 3 Turanza. . My insurers made them find and fit a new Turanza because of the safety issue.
  8. Glad it's sorted and you have latest version.
  9. When my Mercedes diesel lost turbo boost it had no warning lights initially. That was an air mass meter sensor failure.
  10. Well day 2 with the GS was full of pleasant surprises. A family outing to Herefordshire with a mixed driving route of around 160 miles revealed that I've made the right decision to buy a GS. Out on b roads the car rides extremely comfortably yet is easy to push into bends in a very surefooted manner.Meeting cars in a single track road proved no more awkward than in the IS. I feel that the car is far more responsive to throttle input than my F sport and when overtaking 2 steam traction engines towing trailers both my wife and 7 year old grandson commented on how quickly the car accelerated compared to my IS. On my IS the computer used to show an average during most tankfuls of around 47 mpg with properly calculated tankful to tankful consumption over 20,000 miles of 44.6 mpg. Today the GS computer showed an average of just over 52mpg since I filled up. It will be interesting to see what the consumption is when I refuel later in the week after another 400 miles.Seat comfort is streets ahead of the IS, but I put that down to the difference in having 45 series tyres, non-sport suspension together with standard seats .I reversed manoeuvred into a tight parking space and that seemed easier than in the IS. I will update later in the week after refueling.
  11. Having replaced my 2014 IS300Fsport yesterday with a 2015 GS 300h Luxury I am struggling to get a particular menu setting that I found on my IS. On my IS you were able to display a total journey time which remained in memory until you reset (rather than the elapsed time which resets automatically). This was brilliant for me when working as I get paid for my driving time during the day. Spent a happy hour last night trying to find it with the aid of the(much slimmed down from IS) manual with no success. All advice would be welcome please.
  12. Well my first day with the GS. The first comment I must make is that the build quality seems to be up a level from the IS300h. 13. To me the big advantage of a big rwd car is the great lock and turning circle compared to fwd. Being in a loan Astra auto for a month made me realise how much easier a rwd is to park in a supermarket car park and to parallel park.
  14. Very surprised to see that you are getting poor reception on your phone. Admittedly I am using Android (a cheapish LG flex2) and I get great reception incoming and outgoing. I know some manufacturers aim for Android or iPhone connectivity. BMW certainly with Mini aim for iPhone. I don't know where Lexus sit with this.
  15. Well I've recently got my F sport back. Had its first MOT today at 28,500 miles. Over the past few days I noticed my dealer in Cheltenham had a 2015 GS300H Luxury for sale with 11,000 miles. To cut a long story short drove it this morning and did a deal on it. . was pleasantly surprised to find that although not advertised it had the Mark Levinson sound option. Hopefully picking it up Friday. Must say the ride and seats are much softer than my IS which is my main reason for changing now and not in a few months time. I have been getting backache for a while and am hoping the softer seats and ride will help.
  16. I have received an apology from Lexus HQ admitting that there were issues in communication between the various agencies involved in managing my accident recovery and that they had failed to deliver a satisfactory service. My car is still off the road and I am in a Vauxhall Astra auto. Good news is that so far that is 1000 miles not on my Lexus. Strangely the auto version of the Astra gets the most powerful 1.4turbo petrol with 150bhp so at least it goes quite well but is otherwise pretty uninspiring
  17. Well apparently according to Lexus the documentation supplied with my car was out of date. The Aa should know how to recover the car as they have a dedicated Lexus team who answer the phone as Lexus. As for the comments about the knowledge of the bodyshop you will note that the approved Lexus repair shop is a Vauxhall Dealer who has held the contract for 3 whole weeks. That clearly makes them Lexus experts....
  18. Yesterday I unfortunately was involved in a road accident. Fortunately I was unhurt due to the great car. I decided to use the Lexus Assistance and accident management as promoted so heavily in all the car paperwork. To start with all appeared good. My car had been hit quite hard on the offside rear wheel but still drove and had relatively minor panel damage. I was in the middle of nowhere. Initial call around 12.30. About an hour later the Aa arrived and put my vehicle details into his computer which immediately told him he wasn't allowed to recover it . Low loader called and eventually arrived at 3.30 with an hour plus drive to dealer. On the way I rang the dealer only to find Assistance had failed to notify them the car was on its way . We were given the address of the approved body shop (a Vauxhall dealer) only to find it was wrong and involved another mile journey. Upon arrival all was good and car booked in around 5.30. This morning I rang Lexus dealer who didn't know if I was eligible for a loan car. By now having spent 4shocked hours waiting in the hot sun yesterday I decided I'd had enough and got my insurers to get the car to their repair centre. At least I know that I won't be worrying about transport and issues between dealer and bodyshp for the next few weeks .I am not blaming the dealer for this as Lexus are the ones pushing the service and clearly don't know their own vehicles or how to communicate with their dealerships about loan cars etc. After I told them the car would be repaired elsewhere they in fairness offered me a service loan car for the duration. But I was too miffed to be bothered. They are losing out because they estimate repair costs at nearly £6000 which is mainly suspension damage.
  19. Try chemical guys blacklight. So far beats anything else I have used and beads water for months. I also use their spray sealer after every wash. Just spray on and wipe with microfiber.
  20. Having once owned a car with a rear camera and no sensors which resulted in reversing the corner into a post off camera I would never buy a car again with just a camera.
  21. 15000 enjoyable trouble free miles in 6months makes me very happy.
  22. A lot of dealers have contacts at independent garages and sell cars direct. Lister Lexus Cheltenham however sold my trade in Mercedes cabriolet to a private buyer they knew. My previous Mercedes C class traded at Bristol Mercedes ended up in an independent garage in Barry South Wales...
  23. The warmer weather certainly is helping consumption. Filled up Today and my phone app indicates 47.06mpg.
  24. I don't understand what the issue is here. If the car is under the original warranty then surely it is down to the dealer to sort it out if it is faulty. Seems like they have brought this situation on themselves by cannibalising sales cars. Do Lexus UK know that this is the case I wonder ? This all sounds like the dealer hasn't complied with the warranty system put in place by the manufacturer and now is trying to wriggle out of the situation they have created. They probably can't exchange your unit with Lexus because the serial numbers don't match the unit fitted when your car was built. I wonder if the unit currently in your car came from a 'Grey' source and not the official network.?
