  1. Well I've now had my 2015 RX450h Advance for a week and around 500 miles. How does it compare to the 2015 GS300h Luxury I traded in? Firstly Negatives; 1. Auto locking function is not available. 2. ML DAB radio is nowhere near as sophisticated and doesn't show details of track being played. Difficult to tune in, Media files awkward to find and no album covers displayed. 4. Auto wiper function not as easy to engage. 5. No blindspot indicator or rear cross radar. 6. Only one USB port in centre console. 7. Rear camera slower to come on when reverse gear engaged 8. No EV light when car running electric unless EV mode used. 9. EV mode very difficult to sustain compared to GS Neutral: No paddleshift on steering wheel. Main beam headlamps when flashed are not Xenon Positives; 1. Sat nav seems easier to program 2. conventional bulbs in interior lights ( GS always seemed gloomy with led's). 3. Creamy responsive V6 4. Excellent LED headlamps 5. Quiet luxurious cosseting ride. 6. Gorgeous deep soft cream leather seats. 7. Reclining rear seats 7. The way things like the coat hooks and grab handles are so beautifully damped. 8. Excellent bluetooth telephone connectivity. 9. TPMS system indicates actual individual tyre pressures 10. The indicator stalk is positive and not the annoying electronic sort. 11. The cruise control regulates the vehicle speed when going downhill The big plus is that my wife thinks this is the best car I have owned since an Alfa Romeo Mito in 2013. Cars since have been 2013 Mini Clubman with John Cooper Works bodykit, Mini Cooper diesel (2014) 2013 Mercedes 220 Amg Sport, "2012 Mercedes E250 diesel AMG Cabriolet, 2014 Lexus IS300h F Sport ( Ex Sir Geoff Hurst), 2015 Lexus GS300h Luxury ML. At the moment definately 'Living the dream'
  2. Apologies to start. I haven't read entire thread. Firstly you may have legal cover in your household insurance. Secondly Choose your own repairer and negotiate a free courtesy car. You need a good bodyshop to blend that white pearlescent paint. That doesn't always mean a Lexus approved bodyshop. Seek advice from a trusted source. My wife had a claim a few months ago and we went to a local guy who did a great job and insisted on replacing the front panel on a fiat 500 which only had tiny crazing in the paint. The reason is plastic panels once flexed can have paint issues a few years down the line. He specialises in classic cars and had a new porsche in for bodywork when our car was there The excess shouldn't be too hard to claim back as your vehicle was parked. Worse case scenario issue a small claim in County Court online. Very easy to do, but suspect third parties insurance will just pay it.
  3. Autosol is my preferred option after 'tardis' to remove any tar and other gunk.
  4. Well I've found the fusebox. The shroud carrying the passenger footwell is easily removed by pushing 3 catches back an releasing. Unfortunately at 64 years of age i am not equipped to be a powder monkey with microscopic paws so have decided that as the car is under warranty the issue can be sorted when the tailgate paintwork is sorted.
  5. My handbook show it located on the drivers side in the vicinity of the bonnet release. . Can't see how to get at it though on the car.
  6. Since I purchased my car I have noticed that although the 12v power outlet in the centre console works fine the lower front outlet and boot outlet have no power. I've consulted the handbook to try and find the fuse and cannot decide where it should be -certainly there is no fusebox in the dashboard as per the handbook. Car is Advance registered March 2015 . Anyone able to help please. If not its not a big deal as car is under warranty. Thanks Les
  7. A very negative effect of this legislation is that the history of a vehicle is going to be shrouded in mystery. The reason came apparent this week when I changed cars. I was going to supply the dealer with all my paper service documents but was told they had now to destroy everything with my personal details on. Okay not the end of the world BUT I changed my mind today when I received the new V5c for the car I purchased to find that it no longer bears any details of the last keeper...... A wonderful aid for the fraudster
  8. The car of course came with 12 months warranty. It has the panoramic roof and ml. The colour looks good. Some features aren't as good as my GS, but others are better. When I've got time I'll elaborate.
  9. here is the pictures of my new ride. Couple of minor issues with it - the most annoying is a small rust bubble in the paint below the number plate on the rear (size of my little finger nail). Only spotted it today after car had to be washed because of a bombing attack by a seagull with poorly tummy. Strongly suspect a previous bigger plate chafed the paint and then water has got in and travelled under the basecoat . I've spoken to the salesman who assures me they will come up with a solution to fix it (car of course is under 30 day Lexus assured warranty). Hopefully it will be resolved quite quickly as I know a good repairer will be able to lose the repair easily into the rest of the paintwork. Service book is apparently located and will be posted to me (again that I see is a condition of the approved used car waranty. another 170 miles today so I refuelled and my average mpg is in excess of 36mpg.
  10. Well 218 mile round trip saw the collection of my 2015 RX 450h from Inchcape Derby. Condition is very good and it looks and drives well. Mpg from computer was 35.6 on 108 mile trip home via busy M1, M42 and M5. Two issues so far, despite an approved Lexus warranty pack which nearly filled the boot the service log book isn't there although I know it was serviced by Inchcape then and 2 new tyres fitted on front prior to sale. The other issue is the front lower power socket isn't charging my Tomtom yet the centre console one is. I'll put up a separate post when I've had time to investigate (the car has a 175 mile journey first thing tomorrow.)
  11. With the type of 4wd used on Lexus no problem as I see it, but on proper 4x4,s there could be problems in the drive train as I understand it. Likewise having the same tyres on the same axle where one has been replaced due to a puncture for instance as the rolling diameter will be different. I think it's all dependant on the vehicle type.
  12. I've just bought a 2015 Advance in silver with panoramic roof and cream leather interior from Lexus Derby. Made a phone call enquiry and got details of the car's history. No faffing about -salesman didn't give me any guff, asked me what I was looking for in the deal and came back with a no nonsense figure which met my expectation. Deal done.
  13. Well i know rayaans has had experience with Lexus Cheltenham, so knows how they usually work. i have done my sums and am now looking for the right RX ..................
  14. Interestingly a so called accurate parkers private sale figure comes out at around £16500 and a trade in figure of between £18500-19k. I have traded in my cars every 9 to 10 months over the past 10 years and never had such a big drop on a used car. Admittedly I normally would barter to get a good price to change but I didn't see my usual salesman as he was on holiday and the young man I saw was more interested in selling extras than the ca r. To be honest I couldn't be bothered with the hard sell so left.
  15. Well my car had its first MOT today (3 weeks early while under warranty). and I was considering trading it for a used RX450h as an impending baby granddaughter will require child seat manoeuvres etc. My car has 36000 miles on it so is at this moment average mileage and the condition was commented on as being excellent by the dealer. I can now assure you that the term 'Falling Stone' seems to apply to the value of a GS at this time. You could probably make more money on it by breaking it for spares to be honest. My IS300h that I traded last year was surprisingly worth more . Having been so shocked I looked at a RX450H I had seen online in the Midlands and made a serious enquiry. The offer they came back with was even less. That dealer suggested that the demise of the GS was the cause of the low trade value. Put it this way i'm sure that a few people on here would be happy to pay £15,500 for a 15 plate GS luxury with ML .......
  16. I have a tomtom on the centre console of my gs purely because the speed camera and slow traffic warnings are far superior to any inbuilt system (apart from an alfa romeo where a special adapter allowed a Tom Tom to connect with the car). Also the mapping is far newer with the lifetime maps package. I updated my car Sd card last year and mapping is way out.
  17. Can't see a lot of difference in fuel economy as slight seasonal improvement I believe caused by warmer weather. Ride, grip and noise however is definitely much better.
  18. The RX would be on my wish list if I were a low mileage driver but I use my car for work and while i can justify 38 mpg as opposed to the 42 -46 mpg my GS does my 30,000 miles a year would certainly cost a lot more in the RX for the small amount of time i'm transporting children. Perhaps when I retire thought things might change....
  19. I've now covered over 30,00 miles on the Michelins and am still exceedingly happy with them. Today driving in a monsoon on the M5 I realised just how good they are on a wet road compared to my previous Dunlops.
  20. Well i've had my 2015 GS300h Luxury for 10 months and covered in excess of 23,00 happy miles in that time. I'm now thinking of changing cars in the next 3 or 4 months. With an impending baby grandaughter due in July I have been considering changing to an SUV to make the carriage of prams and babies easier.I took a quick look at the Toyota RAV 4 but was disappointed with the quality of the trim compared to Lexus so didn't try one. Today i had some time so called in at my Lexus dealer and took a 66 plate NX300h Luxury for a drive. Nicely put together machine I have to say. Salesman reset the mpg indicator to zero when I drove. Interestingly on a trip of around 15 miles of mixed driving it showed 39.6mpg so about right. Unfortunately the ride was for me was the deal breaker. Every imperfection in the road surface was felt through my seat and the road noise from the tyres added to the negativity. I certainly wouldn't want to drive 500 miles a week in one. Perhaps the facelifted version with the improved suspension is better (but sadly out of my price range). The seats were rather rather tight and unforgiving to the extent that my right side ached after the drive ( I previously had a 2014 IS F sport 300h and didn't have an issue). Perhaps an SUV is after all not the right vehicle for me. I think that I shall now have to look for a newer low mileage GS in the coming months.
  21. From my experience the first time it breaks down and there isn't a part in Europe....
  22. I've now covered around 1500miles of mixed weather driving and I am extremely happy with these tyres. The grip is phenomenal compared to the Dunlops and the car feels really planted on the road. I have tried giving it the beans in the damp when pulling away which on the Dunlops would have provoked the rear end to 'step out' and the traction control to cut in. So far I have been unable to provoke such a reaction on the Michelin tyres. So my view is to give them a try.
  23. My 2 Lexus [2014 is f sport 300h] and my current 2015 GS are the only 2 cars I've owned for a number of years without rusty calipers. That includes 2 minis and 2 Mercedes all post 2013 age. One thought is that the wheel cleaner used at hand car washes is very aggressive and causes the issue when sprayed on hot calipers. Still if you own a new Mercedes you need to replace the wheel centre caps every 12 months or so as they are such poor quality.
