  1. Some sort of parrot type seperate system is likely a quick and decent fix with honest results. I don't need a phone in car (don't even have a personal mobile, spend too much time talking to folks at work, don't want to do it on way there or back, or at home lol) so can't really comment, but have spent a lot of time and effort trying to work round in car systems that weren't up to scratch in past. Always ended up with going the seperate route or proper bluetooth extension for car if available as seperate accessory and not built in already. Where you get new maps dvd - lexus? I need new ones 😐 Hope you get it sorted though and sorry can't help with the system, not got a clue about it.
  2. I had an s class 320, loved it, had all the toys, even some the lexus doesn't have but, that died to. Altornator went, 1300 to replace, 3 weeks later an air strut went, replaced that at 400ish for that new strut to fail whilst left at an airport. Flew in at 3am and burnt out the pump trying to reinflate the suspension. Thought screw it and drove home dragging its sorry ***** the 60miles home, that really killed it lol. Regretted doing that and missed the car ever since, that is until got the 450h. 95% of the toys, 95% as comfy, 90% as quiet, 150+% more go (if not more) and give or take the same frugal-ness on the old go juice. Mine far older than what you looking at, but from loving my sclass more than any other car (had over 50), I love the gs more, and the newer ones look better and I'm pretty sure must be better pretty much all round to. Don't forget petrol cheaper than diesel, and youll not have to boot it half as much as the oil burner, so if economy broadly similar, I say get the 450 and enjoy the power.
  3. Wonder if the principle of getting to speed faster, using more fuel, versus more time off the gas using less fuel. Either that or as it a bit warmer, tires bit harder and thus less rolling resistance, or wind speed lol Need someone with access to track or test ground to do some controlled testing.
  4. I did that day , but normally 30 is good, can get to 33 or 35 on a steady flowing run. I used to venture your way a bit to, went to uni in Glamorgan and used to blast the motorbikes your way on weekends, some lovely roads. Once did a cycling training course at Hereford for some army lads, was a blinder, especially the night in bushwackers, but I'm going back a fair bit lol.
  5. I got no motorways either John, not 1 in our county and a good hour plus to get to closest in neigbouring county, so know what you mean (we only got a handful of decent dual a roads lol). I can see the sport being better on fuel as in normal, when accelerating gently the meter is very low anyway, circa 10/15 mpg, but in sport it drops lower, say to 10ish, but your off the acceleration much soon as get to speed far quicker, thus less overall and more off pedal coasting following the acceleration. However, when i found the difference, it was my right foot that caused the issues, as got over excited and took every opportunity to stab it quick. I must have a word with it and charge rent if it keeps it up 😃 averaged 16 on a bit I normally get 30 on, oups.
  6. I'd not touch it. Far too little use in too long a time. I like high milers, as folk that use them and need them to run, generally look after them. Once bought a low miles (20k miles 6yrs old) vw polo for wife's first car, it was dead within 7 month. Everything had gone hard, seals popped, gaskets broke, sensors died, starter motor seized, you name it, it broke. Water pump only lasted 3 weeks. That had full service history (each year without fail) to, but just hadn't been hot or got lube and fluids moving. Drove fine on test drive, if a bit stiff, but when started to be used daily, get weight in her and up to temp, she couldn't hack it. Obviously the lexus is far better made, but, that's no miles and I doubt lexus build can be that much better. I'd say you'd need to plan to change everything rubber and all fluids, and lube everything at a minimum and be preparred to wait for this and that to split under heat and load. BUT, at £16,000, I'd not even open the advert. I just paid £4500 for my 450h, great condition bar 1 or 2 minor things, but 144k miles. However, I can replace the whole car 3 times oven and break even with the cost of this one, far too expensive. £1,600 worth a punt maybe if checks out (if the mileage is genuine, could well be clocked) but not 10fold price. Just my 2p. However that said, do buy a gs, even if have to come here or another country and drive it home to get proper price. I love mine and so pleased with it, so although not a 300, must be similar and therefore recommend the jump.
  7. I had a decent drive this weekend, so fiddled with the combos of these buttons. Sport definitely made a difference to throtal response, and not that mild, it's noticeably sharper and more eager to shoot off. Id go as far as saying, from normal to sport made more difference than going from sport to sport plus power. Apart from using more fuel, it's a button that should always be on. I'll be using it more now 😆
  8. I assume the fm transmitters will avoid such issues, but will still only be as good as fm radio signal can be. They are cheap, wireless and useful elsewhere, ie shed or garage etc where you have a radio, can then tune into your ipod station. I've used some previously, but so long ago I can't recall if they were decent, although I certainly don't remember then being duff, after all, most of us do listen to radio without it sounding too bad.
  9. You can do this Jeff, or buy a radio sender, plugs into phone (or can bluetooth ones) that play your songs on a specific radio wavelength, you then tune radio to that frequency and hear your tunes. Some sound clarity may be lost though, through either method. Do they make an ipod adaptor for the car? I have a 56 plate gs that has a specific ipod connector in glove box, so I plug into that and have control over ipod via screen and steering wheel, charges it, show track name etc, all via the cd changer mode. Have a lexus branded manual for it, but don't know if it was a factory fit or option, or upgrade later etc.
  10. Glad they did a decent job of sorting it for you David. No such luck for me, yet, service person off till Tuesday, will ring me next week and hopefully we can go from there, although sales chap said I'll have to back for photos and paint depth check to see if it can be covered by warranty (there is the rust, fix it, surely?)
  11. Did you have rust on the wings as well David, or did they do them for other reasons? Glad you got it sorted, I'm heading to local dealer today to see what they say on recall and bonnet rust. If they decent then likely a 100+ service and tpms diagnosis and repair to, fingers crossed eh. I'd meet, but far too far for me I'm afraid lol
  12. Thanks messi. Not had chance to ring yet, as trying to figure if I want to get a service done as well. Would normally do myself, but the free hybrid check, valve clearance check and hybrid coolant change of the 100k package might swing it for once and mean I get a day off, result.
  13. Thanks messi. Checked recall website today, and says it's due a recall, so will try to get whatever that is done, plus the bonnet. Trying to look at their service offerings to, but website won't let me download brochures to see what's included with each, so hopefully with a big service they may be more inclined to do bonnet lol. Cheers and here's keeping fingers crossed Glad you got it sorted and happy with the outcome Stewart. I've had mixed results with paint jobs, so good to see a decent job done.
  14. Anyone have any details on this? I have rust on the front lip and stumbled across this thread. Would love to have something to back it up, in case my local lexus folks aren't overly keen to resolve for free.
  15. Looks amazing, is a credit to you Mark. Glad she passed, although as Mike said, from looking there'd be no doubt.
  16. Agreed, trying to sell the mod would be rejected, but sharing the knowledge etc, that's fine as the site is full of it (how to info that is).
  17. Cheers kaycee, but not that kind of noise. It's electric related, and it's frequency (speed of click) is predictable, quicker when driving on ele or stopped but in drive, slows when put in neutral or park. It's as if an ele motor is clicking away, but it's on the front and I thought motors only drove back wheels, so doesn't match. But don't think it's brake related (thought it could have been the regeneration on front wheels), as still clicks when stopped, but ele still on. Will have to try and record it. Thanks
  18. Bought my gs450h at 33 on Saturday just gone. I'm 34 now though, so the car is ageing me quickly! (That's my excuse anyways) Always been old car wise, was driving an xjr jag at 20 lol
  19. Lovely looking motor britpus (same as mine , although looks like you have black interior, or perhaps just the tints, mine is creamy colour). See your wheels in good condition, all 4 of mine are flaking, need to figure out if / what can be done refurb wise. Very interested on getting the mirrors to auto fold, baffled that they don't, given all the tech. Also amazes me that the fold button doesn't work once you turned off the car. I always forget to fold them and then have to power on again just to fold before I get out, pita.
  20. Thanks kaycee. Have seen a few threads on this and the covers, need to see if she has them already, if not will get some. However, would this still be pumping/injecting (to make the noise) when the petrol engine isnt running, ie when on ele only? As that's when I get the ticking (similar sound to having the old lollipop stick clacking on by clear spoke). I'd have thought it'd only be pumping / injecting when engine running?
  21. Folks, Wonder if you can help confirm if I've got issues and bought a lemon, or if it's a normal sound from the hybrid please Pulled into work car park, lots of traffic so was going slowly. Nice day so window was down and I hear this ticking type sound as passing other cars. Pulled into space and still ticking, kind of like a relay clicking on off, but a fair bit louder as can hear it from in the car when the sound bounces off near objects. Get out of car (car still on) and it's coming from front wheel area, I only checked on drivers side, but sounded like it was front wheel area (didn't check under bonnet). Car sat there for few seconds and clicking slowed and got quieter, then stopped all together. Hopped back in, stuck in reverse and clicking returned. Moved her a bit, back in p and clicking slowed then stopped, same as before. Is this normal, and a sound from the ele motor being turned on etc, or should I get the old gal to Lexus for a hybrid check? Thanks all Upex (a slightly worried new 450h owner)
  22. Roy, yes, was private and half the price of a deal car with not that less miles, so it's to the moon I go! Far quite, I'll check that out, thanks. Love it so far, just a few niggles to fix and things to confirm etc, but so far so good.
  23. Britpus, that's a good idea, hadn't thought that it could just be well weathered, will take a very close look when light. Soramad, wow, £630, I'll keep looking over my shoulder if it comes to that, ludicrous. If Britpus Polish idea doesn't work (if needed of course) I'll check for a fleabay special, suppose at least it'll fit well and be plug and play, versus faffing with a new camera of generic fit etc. Thanks all, will report back once had a closer look for the good of future viewers. Edit: if I need to find a used unit, will any GS of 2005 to 2010 one fit and work, or am I tied to specific GS's and or years?
  24. PCM, don't know if sealed or not, but I've wiped mine thrice, no difference unfortunately, hence the request.
