  1. I think that having it in say 4, will mean as speeds get up to 5th and 6th territory, it'll not change up (that is increase gearing to keep revs lower). I'm making this up though, never tried it, but as there are no gears, the most it could do is alter revs, ie like the auto gear lever numbers, used for depending long hills etc, stops car running away with you. Perhaps it's in the manual, might have a look as want to know what shift lock button does as well lol
  2. Well the ipod touch works, so that's 64gb (vs my previous 2gb) for £40 quid, result!
  3. As tiger fish says, the wall measurement is useless on its own, as is the % of tire width, so a 225 60 could be standard as could a 235 55 or 245 50 etc (example fictitious numbers here), as it's the circumference that matters, not the width and profile. Any number of combos can give the same or very similar circumference. 3.5% should be OK though, just bear in mind your going a touch faster than you think and also get the proper sized rubber when renewing, don't go off the tyres next time and all will be good in all likelihood
  4. Don't know if the offset, pcd, bore etc are interchangeable or not, but they are the key elements. Offset can be adjusted out a bit with spacers if needed, but if the hub and studs are the same, not a change of fitting them to the hubs. Regards tires, that's about a 3.5% difference, so your speedo and mileage counter will be off a bit. You'll be doing about 72.5mph when speedo shows 70, 93.2 for 90mph, if speedo is actually accurate of course, most overread a bit. Not ideal as suggested max difference is 2.5% I think, but might as well use them and then replace with the proper size. Saves paying £80 to swap over and put in bin.
  5. If it were me, I'd be heading to longlife in Ipswich. Longlife Ipswich (Centre of Excellence) Address: Unit 14 Lewis Farm Stonham Aspal IP14 6AU Telephone 01473 200414 Never used them in ipswich, but used to work (high end audio visual custom builds - former life) next to the Cardiff branch and they were excellent. Great products and production, very good prices and service. I took many cars there for customers exhaust install once done the av installs. You can pick bore, pipes, even sound and volume you want, will depend on car space and existing pipework that your not replacing of course. All stainless and solid. Can't be wrong.
  6. Well, for anyone interested in the future, having just bought a cheap ipod touch (4th gen or less I believe have the 40pin connector, above 4th gen will not fit as have lightening ports), I've loaded it with music and just waiting for wife to come home to try it. Will update once I know.
  7. John, my ipod connector is in glove box, the old 40 pin type. The cable can be pushed back into the rear of the glovebox, so perhaps it's been pushed out the way when not in use and thus not overly visible? Going to look for the my lexus page and see what it says about mine. Love the sound of your dark wood, would love a less woody look on mine. Walnut grain should be reserved for furnature and shotgun stocks!
  8. Cheers Jon, will do this, although Web doesn't say what recall is needed, just that work is due, but hopefully a call to lexus will yield better results. Will wait to see about my rust claim, as dealer was overly hopefully that it'd be honoured, a bit of variance in paint depth so she said it may well have been resprayed previously. If it has, it's a cracking job and the best aftermarket paint work I've ever seen, can't tell at all and it's original bonnet (has the vin mark label). Overall, not overly impressed so far, but will wait and see what they say. Cheers,
  9. Humm, I thought that, Web says my car needs recall work done and to call or visit to arrange, so went to lexus norwich and they say it's been done, I'm dubious....
  10. Tiny capacity for large costs. The big bag going 75litres, that's not even a full size hiking bag. On the roof I say, do it right and do it once. Storage at other end not an issue, stays on car. At home, in shed or garage, with stuff in and uses next to no space, plus a roof box can go to next car, got to be a winner.
  11. assume you had some bands and knocks going on then? (Not searched for another of your threads to pair off against). We're they easy to replace, or a pita?
  12. Seemed to work, how random lol. Wonder what clock setting it's defaulting to when no signal to actually set it..... and perhaps adjusting that one can then mean both work ok?
  13. Thanks John. Regards techstream, what version am I after for tpms and in terms of cost v benefit. Would rather get a better one for bit more money if it can do lots more etc and not a clue of the differences etc.
  14. Thanks mike, and agreed, needs to be the old 40pin. Just not sure if an early touch will work, or if needs to be a classic.
  15. Glad you found a convenient and acceptable solution msdsx, and always better when doesn't cost a bomb. As this threads happens to be on iTunes and music in car, anyone know the best way to store music on ipod so it shows artist and album info? Mine as it stands says I have 2 disks to choose from, and only shows track title, nothing about artist or album etc. I'm after know who as well as what. Also, I'm looking to buy a bigger ipod for her, but anyone meow if an ipod touch will work? They going cheaper than ipod classics but not sure if it'll work ok? Have read the ipod manual that came with car, and it's the worst manual I've ever seen. Real hard work and I can't see anything about these 2 points. Thanks
  16. Can you code in new sensors with tech stream then? How much tech stream cost? Might have to buy a laptop and it if useful...
  17. Kind of linked, but does anyone's clock (older model) have some random time when first get into it morning, and takes a moment of two to correct itself? I leave circa half 7 in morning, and several times I've notice it be circa 1 and some minutes out, I.e. 6.11 random times. Few mins later its on the correct time.... made me think I'd left early more than once! Could get it if an hour out etc, but the random minutes are puzzling as aren't just a couple. Setting is on auto and I've rolled on the hour via summer time, but did same thing on winter time to (St off).
  18. I concur John, thus must blast off at every opportunity...... I'm protecting the environment offer!
  19. Yeah, and I wonder what's the merc does, 32/35ish? Is so, price difference pretty much makes it even, go for it gh421, can't complain at extra fiver here or there when get all the extra ommmppphhhhh
