  1. Thinking about it, yes I was. I put it in with everything when I part exchanged that car last August. I think from memory it comes with a code that applies to that USB stick in your particular car.
  2. I had to do the same when the clutch failed on my TR7.. good job the starter motor was strong.
  3. I had a 2011 RX450H and updated the maps from the 2011 to 2017. It cost around £160 and is done at the dealers. It comes on a USB stick and takes around 2 hours to install. I think the maps are updated every two years do possibly a 2021 version for yours now.
  4. The price of the service plan will depend on which services are due over the 2 years. If it includes the one every 5 year/ 60,000 miles the cost will be higher or if it does not include this service then the price will be lower. Any idea which Lexus you are looking at next? I went from a 2011 RX SE-i to a 2017 RX Luxury with Prem SatNav last year and love the changes included.
  5. Dont forget your next plan will include the 120,000 mile service which is the big one to change the spark plugs again. This one alone costs around £850 on a Gen4 RX so a little less if you are getting the essential service plans for cars over 5 years old.
  6. Put the gear selector into manual (right) and manually select a lower gear 3 or 2 as required.. this also works in winter to keep your speed down slow to a crawl if required downhill to keep control. Even though its CVT these "false" gears give you the engine braking you are looking for.
  7. Mine was a 2011 SE-i You just kept feeding them into the CD slot until it had taken 6 in.
  8. The one thing I missed when changing from the Gen3 to Gen4 was the 6 disc CD player that the Gen3 had. I had to copy a number of CD's to a USB stick and keep that connected in the centre Box. The only thing I need or want from my phone when driving is the ability to talk if called.
  9. Morning Rupert Maybe try posting this in the section for LS too, gives a better chance for an LS owner to see it. Good luck with the search.
  10. The old joke was that Italian tanks had 5 gears .. 1 forward and 4 reverse.. because the Italian Army was always retreating.
  11. As Phil has said, the mirrors are a big help and so is the camera when reversing, its just a matter of practice. Maybe those of my age, it comes more naturally, especially having driven hired vans a few times years ago that you could not see through the cabin and had no camera so had to rely on the door mirrors alone. In the drive of the house I used to live in if reversing a luton van in you had to reverse in until close to the mirrors then fold them in while getting through the gates, then folding them back out again.
  12. Pleased you are enjoying your RX450 SE-I, I had a 2011 version of it which I had for three years ... and it is the only time ever in over 40 year of driving that having had a car I changed if for the same make/model to a 2017 RX450 Luxury. After the 2011 RX the 2017 RX is another step up again, more refined.
  13. According to Toyota their first cars with solid state battery systems will be on sale in 2022.
  14. It all depends on the public transport and that seems to depend on where you live. Its OK if you live in a city with plenty of of it but there are villages here that dont even have one bus a day never mind something regular. As far as cycles are concerned, I definitely am not going to cycle 17 miles each way to get to work. As for councils installing power charges in lamposts that will just open up a big can of worms in litigation for people tripping over cables, kids stealing the cables or vandalising them and electrocuting themselves and others with them. The thing that will improve it is the solid state battery systems that Toyota is close to releasing with a 500 mile range and full charge in 10 mins.. as long as it is at a price that the majority can afford.
  15. I have currently got a UX300e as a curtesy car today and tomorrow while my RX is in for MOT and big service. There are a couple of things I like on it that my RX does not have, heated steering wheel and HUD but also a few things it does not have .. memory seats, etc. I prefer the size and interior of the RX and the limited range let's EV's down for me. I am pleased I am just working from home as I have nowhere to recharge it so the 165 miles has to cover the two days driving including 30 miles each way to Lexus Teesside.
  16. £186 per hour labour?? You are joking ..right?? Up here Teesside Lexus is around £80 per hour labour. I also asked about an update to the Sat Nav after seeing someone on here say they have been told between £200 and £250 and was tole it was £163.
  17. I have never had to replace an exhaust manifold on any car I have ever owned, that includes some quite old ones when younger, had to replace an oxygen sensor once on a Suzuki GV1600. Do they say it is cracked? Have a look around for a place near to you that makes custom exhausts rather than the dealer, let them have a look at it and they can maybe fix it or make you one cheaper.
  18. Anyone else just received a letter to say RMB (Lexus) has been taken over by Stoneacre? I have had good service from RMB over the time I have owned my RX's with it booked in for its big 60,000 mile service in a couple of weeks time but this morning I have just received a letter from Stoneacre saying they have taken RMB (Lexus) over .. well I received two letters both saying exactly the same thing, so I hope that is not an indication as to their admin side. Have anyone experience of other Lexus dealers being taken over by Stoneacre? .. did the customer service go down?
  19. In 4 years of owning an RX I have only seen it get that last top bar twice and both times was on my 2011 RX, never yet on the 2017 one.
  20. Just had a look at mine, seems like mine won't have that problem.
  21. Have you looked in the settings menu to see if a previous owner has switched the front ones off and/or got the sensitivity of them at short distances only?
  22. Thats how it worked for us for the programming but I am sure it was two weeks we had to wait. Remember the first Internet and modems, the noises that came out of them was fascinating when it was dialling up and transferring data. AceKid - what connections are on your phone as output and on the screens as input? Could you make a lead to connect an AV (aux) lead out on your phone to a input on the screens?
  23. Shows how quickly technology moves on from 15 years ago.. and even more for myself. I took O Level Computer Studies (in 1977 to 1979) which included programming using Basic. The school did not have a computer at all and in those two years we only got to see a physical computer 4 times when visiting the local University and College.
  24. How about going back to the rear seat entertainment from my days as a kid .. I Spy and Count the bridges. 😅
