  1. I'm firmly in the school of if it isn't broken then I don't spend but I've got to say those led lights do look fantastic. If the 250c didn't have led tail lights already, I'd be ordering a pair myself Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  2. I have pirelli snow control 3 on a set of 16s for the VW alltrack Passat. Granted the Passat is allwheel drive but they are very good in snow. Albeit not the best, but then the price differential is quite large for the best which are generally the contis. I used to run all year round faulken as200 euro all season on my pug 407. Found those to be pretty good and never got stuck with those. But where as I will quite happily tackle mamtor from edale in 6 inch of snow to take the kids sledging in the alltrack, I doubt the 407 would be capable. Not enough traction or ground clearance. So a thumbs up for the pirelli snow control. They've done 3 seasons now and still plenty of tread left. Paul Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  3. As it happens Neil. Yes !!! I shift cars for a living with a car transporter. I get in a few million quidsworth of cars a week from your basic poverty level finance white pos to 200k+cars. One of the most stand out sound systems thats made me turn my head recently was the meridian in the range rover evoke... !!! That does sound stunning. Imho better than the system in the 200k lwb limo dogs nads range rover. But everyone has their own tuned ears. I have a midrange priced pair of akg headphones... Last Xmas senheisser had a big price reduction on a set of their premium headphones so I bought them and after an hour of listening, I preferred my akg's and returned the senheissers. I've never sat in a sound off car with a true custom system. I just get to have a listen at whatever is in the car I'm shifting. Premium sound or basic poverty level sound system. 4. A nice rega, with a Linn amp and Linn kabre speakers... With a rell stampede for the really low stuff. Yes a totally agree. You cannot better vinyl. It's going to be interesting when this new hd vinyl comes out. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  5. The biggest issue with the ml Neil imho is it doesn't sound good with any source that isn't excellent quality. FM, dab YouTube music etc and it sounds flat. Dvd audio does sound epic. There are some trial offers going at the moment on tidal which offers Lossless and high definition music. My local audiophile shop seems to think it's very very good. Im tempted to give it a go on the trial.. Any one else tried tidal ? Paul Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  6. Yes got nav with ml. Hard drive based nav. Only have the thick owners manual tho. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  7. Thx j Henderson. That's a relief. The Lexus handbook doesn't cover any of the systems little quirks at all. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  8. Can someone shed some light. I'm aware the auto on the left hand side of the centre console is for the Aircon on off. The auto on the left with auto recirculation / recirculation / outside air is on the right... This is where I'm confused somewhat.. If I set heater directions manually to wind screen and feet and then press the right hand auto, I get auto and recirculation. In the climate screen it changes the vent direction highlighted icon to feet. Is this normal behaviour and when does it switch automatically to outside air ? Is there a way of testing it's behaving correctly please ? Is it normal in the climate display to change to the feet icon too? Is250c Owners manual doesn't seem to be any use Tia Paul Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  9. I don't know how much the ml in the saloon differs from the convertible speaker wise, but it's certainly not lacking in the isc. I think the misnomer is that people expect the ml to be something it was never designed to be. The ml is audiophile. Its about authentic music reproduction. Hence the amp thd ( total harmonic distortion ) being 0.1 from 20htz to 20khtz. The full human hearing spectrum. The music sounding as faithful as to how the artist recorded it in the studio. Bass and treble settings don't make a huge difference to the sound overall. The pioneer based system could be best described as hi-fi. More punchy, maybe more dynamic sounding, i.e lively, but not sound accurate. As for bigger subs... This area is missunderstood. Increasing the bass can just muddy the midrange. I understand focal have a very good rep in car audio. So I had a browse. Linked below. Their p25 10inch sub is rated to 45htz. Some 25htz higher than the ml system. So it's not actually going that deep in the audio spectrum. https://www.focal.com/en/car-audio/car-audio-kits-solutions/performance/expert/subwoofers-bass-enclosures/sub-p-25-db A proper sub is a different beast. Generally found in home cinema systems, but again there are very few that can actually get near 20htz and even fewer that can do true subsonic bass. Bass you feel but cannot hear. Rel are one company that make audiophile subs that truly go subsonic. And they crack ceilings too... Everyone's ears perceive music differently. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  10. Well I had to have a play... I'd seen the DTS and Dolby logos on the ml. So after giving the is/c a wash I went in the loft and went foraging for a couple of DVD's.. Tried 3 in all and have to say, whilst in normal audio listening, dab radio, FM, cd it does sound above average Fed the multichanger my 3 choice dvd's from the loft. Back to the future 1. I particularly wanted to listen to the ticks and chimes of the clocks near the beginning. I wanted to see if the system would pull out the clicks and noises of all the clocks. The sound of the tiny noises as the mechanism of the clocks moved etc. Blown away... Gone in 60 seconds. The surround imaging was faultless.. from the start of the music to the crash of the glass as the Porsche is launched thru the window... Lastly. The start of the original terminator movie... All the lasers going off and the tracked vehicle crushing the skulls and then into the terminator movie sound track theme.... Just stunning... Gave me goose pimples. Which brought me to one particular conclusion about the ML system. Feed it the right quality audio and it really really blows you away. Feed it a lesser audio signal, dab, FM, analogue cd and it is better than most car systems but doesn't blow you away. Will the ml handle flac audio files ? As for the dvd side... I will keep a couple in the car for when Highways England have screwed the road network up and I'm sat in a traffic jam... Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  11. Couldn't agree more. At the point Lexus downsize engines and add turbos, Lexus loses its identity in that Merc, Audi, BMW, Aston, Alfa are all turbo. Chris Harris summed up the gsf nicely in his review against the M5 That Shelby does sound epic linas Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  12. If Lexus go forced induction on their halo cars then they should go the yank direction.. Supercharged. Superchargers don't kill the engine sound unlike turbos. Hence why the German cars have fake sound piped into the cabin thru the speakers. The German cars should come with an apology for sounding ***** poor.... As for fuel economy, at 100k plus for an lc500 f version,. It's not going to really matter I'd argue if you've spent that kind of money in the first place... Maybe not as loud as this Shelby but you should get my point... When does a turbo motor sound this viceral ? Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  13. Mx5 or daihatsu copen. Cannot carry loads of m8s round.... Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  14. Thx Normski. I'd just googled before seeing your post. That could be quite an expensive mistake...!!!! Euro car parts have 37% off this weekend... But I've got a visit planned to the Lexus stealers Monday.... Anyone any idea what main agents charge for cabin filter please Paul Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  15. Thx Normski. I will check the cabin filter over weekend thx The colour was aluminium silver. Took me ages to find the one I wanted in that colour. 2litre sport tech. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  16. Spoilt or just getting nesh in my old age ? Cloudless sky 2.30 am... 13 degrees. M18 motorway.... Is250c. Roof down..... Heater on cook mode. Heated seat on max. Sweat shirt on. Sadly not as pleasant temperature wise as the mx5 MK3.5 I had. Need to did my neck snuggle out for sure..... The mx5 heater was a furnace along with its seat heaters which both would near enough melt flesh... Don't think I will be roof down into single figure temps with the lex... Still.. the mark Levinson blows the Bose sound into the weeds sound quality wise. Ride quality, build quality, refinement... say no more..lexus quality quality quality I do miss the mx5 though for its lack of weight, level of feed back of grip thru the seat of the pants and playful nature tho...particularly in the wet. 17. Just stumbled on this so sorry if I'm resurecting a post... Back in 96 I was in the USA (first visit). The hirer car died...or I killed it lol. Anyway I discovered If you kill the hire car they will replace and upgrade you. So I went from a 2.4 Pontiac grand am to a 3.7l Pontiac grand Prix. Lovely car.. Anyway because the first car had failed second car came with a full tank of squirt. So outside Daytona I needed fuel. Went into this petrol station and asked which was unleaded as car said unleaded... And there were about 5 grades of fuel... Basically crude oil to jet fuel...[emoji23] So the silky smooth V6 got a full tank of crude oil... cheapest...!!! Pulled out, got to the lights sat waiting and the crude oil rated fuel finds its way to the engine. The silky smooth V6 that you could stand a pencil on its end on the engine at tickover was jumping about in a big way... It was running like a stroker V8 at tickover. Engine jumping about, car body shaking, mirror vibrations that bad you couldn't see thru them. If you think back to the future 3 when the delorean Blow's it's manifold off, your not far off. Fuel economy plummeted lol. Had to fill it within 3 days and put some better grade in.. Always used the correct grade in my own cars after that experience. Still makes me laugh to this day when I think about that Pontiac... Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  18. Are there any 4 season tires available for the 255x40x18 size of the rears of the convertible ? I've looked and can only find full on winters in that size Tia Paul Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  19. That could be sticking / seized caliper / pins m8. I'm sure far more knowledgeable owners will give you the full sp Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  20. I'd viewed it 3 times m8. The car was originally a proper shed. Alloys needed refurbishment. They were a real mess corrosion wise. There was a din't in ns front wing top near headlight. NS passenger door was keyed. Os passenger door had a vertical skuff where someone had opened a door onto it. The vertical scuff was about a cm wide and about 9-12 inch long. Lots of stone chips. It's a nice colour with Mark Levinson. They have supposedly smart repaired stuff and refurbed the alloys. I'd asked 5 times about service history and were never given any info. My experience matched exactly what other people have posted on Perry's FB pages... Be very careful. Have a read on Perry's FB pages. What was very clear was the car had not been cared for by it's previous owner. And that could make the car one big money pit m8. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  21. Well as some of you know I've just very recently joined the Lexus fold with a 250c Now I'm a huge fan of Lexus and their cars. I shift cars for a living and get in the latest cars often before the motoring press. All brands and types upto 200 grand motors. I've said many a time, there's cars that are just cars..... You get in them, go where your going and that's it.. it's a mode of transport. An a to b car. Then there are cars you actually want to get in. Cars that feel special. Cars that feel special for some reason. It can be any brand, any motor, but has that something.... It could be , drama, theatre, the experience.. For instance... New Mustang... Big daft V8. Retro dash with modern / retro look. Sounds epic.. and the body tilting slightly as it fired up brings the smile to your face. Fiat abarth 595. Silly performance in a roller skate..also sounds rude !!! Toyota Prius... Don't know why but I find quite appealing... Must be the dash and chimes and ride quality... Nissan gtr..... Nuff said Lexus lc500... Gorgeous inside and out and that engine sound !!! You get my drift. Well the 250c I said is the better halfs motor.. but I will use on a Friday for work... Well when I reminded her that I was going to use the lex Friday night for work..... The guys that have been married for a long time will know what I'm on about I'm damned sure... The tone of the better halfs voice... Well guess who decided it was a better idea taking the VW Passat alltrack Friday night for work !!! Had to slum it. It's probably the ultimate vanilla car.. But it's a shed when stacked up against the Lexus. And I was so looking forward to the Mark Levinson. YouTube music playlist sorted...... I hate crap sound.. I think the bh has realised what I've been saying for years.... There are cars you want to be in and the lex is hers !!! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  22. Also linas I'd tell your insurer your not happy with how they are handling it and tell them you will be InTouch with the insurance ombudsman. Then ring the insurance ombudsman... That will get more movement going forward than a hornet being locked in your car with said telephone minion . Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
  23. I would add carbon build up in the turbos is another issue, along with swirl chamber flaps in the induction manifold. Tho I don't know if the Lexus has the flaps. But... I've just traded my trusty 2.2hdi twin turbo pug. Whilst it's given me 8 years, 100,000 miles of reliable running, it has had twice yearly oil and filters. Every second oil change was a full service. Traded in with 121,000 on it's back. However over the last 6 months I've had countless depolution errors and the car has gone into limp mode for 24hrs before clearing the fault itself and running normal again. The issue... Carbon build up on the turbo variable vanes... Every so often it would stick and cause the overboost error. And that car was effectively serviced 4 times in the time period Peugeot specified for 1 service. We do have a euro 5 Passat diesel alltrack 177bhp. That is so up and down on its fuel economy that I suspect the lex will at least match that too. And no I've not let vw anywhere near it as most report a drop in economy after the fix I'm new to the Lexus fold but on my run up the motorway, the is250 matched the pug at 37.9mpg. fuel economy on the pug was always around that figure. Went skegvegas Sunday and traffic was heavy and still achieved 34.3mpg with 4 of us in the car. If you want diesel, go new and get one on PCP. Once the cars out of manufactures warranty your living with a liability imho. 1000 quid for an injector. High pressure fuel pump prices... Well you might need a cold compress on your head. Paul.
